Hello Everyone,

Thanks for the comments !

Tom is more into Hawaii Five-O rather than Rawhide although he is happy dancing to the theme music of either. I am talking about the real 1960/70's Hawaii Five-O not the rubbish modern "re-interpretation"

Anyway, I have been working on the hull roof support. The Academy one is crude and inaccurate, the Verlinden one laughably rubbish, crude and brittle, so I had to build my own version.

It is still not 100% completed, there are a few small gaps in the plastic that I need to fill but its glued in place waiting further refinements and additions.

Note how the roof support fits onto the hull. The placement of the bolts is critical

Thanks for looking and more to follow

Hello Everyone,

Dan, thanks for the comment.

I have been progressing on the Tiger 1 and I have been adding the mid section roof supports (something missing from the Verlinden and Academy Kit) and the tanks hull ammunition storage.

The first image shows the roof supports

They are not finished but serve as am important place holder for lots of other components in the tank, mainly the ammo bins:

They fit very well that was pure luck really

As you can see I have added in the hull storage boxes although they are not glued in

Here I have added some PE to add a little depth to the model. They are Griffon Model WW2 German AFV Tool Holders L35A003 and they look good.

The hull as it currently is waiting more additions.

Thanks for looking

Your attention to detail is exquisite. This build just keeps getting better. I hope my soon to start panzer turns out this well.

Amazing work Steven !

Glad you're back at the workbench !

The white plastic is your scratch work ?
The PE is from Griffon sets ?

Hello and thanks for the kind words Matt, John and Robert.

John, some of the metal work is from the griffon brass tube set which comes in various sizes other than that most of what's on display is my own creations made from left over brass. The hinges are from the great Griffon model set.

All the white plastic work is my own scratch building.

The build has temporally stopped as I am in hospital but it will start again when I am out.

Thanks for looking

Hello,

This is just a quick update, I have not abandoned the Tiger build, in fact I have done more work on it since the last update. Unfortunately real life issues have got in the way and my partner and I have to move again so that is not great either.

Regular updates should be appearing from Mid October onwards

Thanks for looking

Hello,

Just a quick post to keep you all informed about progress on the Tiger. We are moved and I am starting to spend more time with her. Its been over a year since I started the build and the plan is to get the hull fully completed by Christmas and finish the turret in the new year.

I will then start work on a Flakpanzer 1 with extensive modifications as usual.

I completed the floor supports and installed them in place on the hull. (these are the white things around the hull ammo magazines) Most Tiger 1 builds I have looked at seem to miss out these supports, I really dont know why they are easy enough to construct.

One of the most complex operations has been to build the hull ammunition storage bays, they are very complex and have to be strong enough to hold 1/35th 88mm brass projectiles.

I have completed framework of the ammo bays and need to add the supports and the folding doors. I have spent the best part of two weeks on this so far but they are still not complete.

Hate to say this, but you've put 2 black knobs on the firewall; they were for the submersion feature, and would not be present in a Late Tiger.

Thanks for the comment Alvaro,

This thread has had nearly 41,000 views

Another update on the Tiger, I was fed up with the hours and hours of interior work and decided to jump ahead a little and make the tracks. Nothing is glued and this was just a test to see if everything fitted properly, it does thankfully. I hate making tracks but I wanted to do something different.

The Tiger is very heavy with the metakl tracks

The Tiger is much larger than my little Panzer 1a

I have been working on the hull ammunition storage and have just about completed it of the drivers side of the tank

And with some ammo added

I have to complete the other ammo storage bin and then the hull is practically completed apart from adding wiring and a few other bits.I want to have the lower hull completed and painted before Christmas, just the turret left and that should take a few months

I am also on the lookout for Brass 1/35 Tiger rounds, I know of the Tamyia set but if you know of any others please let me know by reply, If you have any hanging around that you dont need please let me know too :-)

Thanks for looking

Steven

Hey Steven!
You are doing an outstanding job on your Tiggy!!!
If you need some ammo for your Big Cat, there is a good choice.

Hey Steven !

Always a pleasure ! Just like most followers here, I don't want your wonderful project to get stuck because of absence of goodies on hand !

Keep it going
