Steven, your attention to detail is just amazing. The driver's floor is a perfect example.

Hello Everyone,
I have been working hard on the Tiger, progress has been a little slow in the last week but I have taken a few more steps closer to the finishing line.
I have added a glass block to the Gearbox/radio. There were infact two glass blocks designed to replace the drivers vision port should it be damaged in combat. I will add a plastic strip to make it look like two blocks at at a later date.
Here it is installed in the tank.
The following are images of the hull floor. I have added the redundant steering gear and linked up the clutch to the gearbox through a series of connected linkages.
I have also redesigned and lengthened the drivers chair, but I dont seem to have captured an image of it in place.
The very last image is showing just how busy the hull floor is getting, various gear linkages, hull supports etc and it is still not completed.
Thanks for looking
Steven

stunning work... if I was, for example, wanting to go a similar scratchbuild on a StuG II E what references would you recommend (or perhaps a Pz IV Ausf H....I do like making things individual but lack decent references for armour at the moment....

Hello and thanks for the comments Kenny, Chris and Robert.
Robert: Before I start any build I look to see if there is a workable interior available this is normally an after market interior. Dont worry too much if you purchase a Tamyia interior for a Dragon kit sure you will have to make some modifications but thats all part of the fun. You can only scratch build so much and you will rely on a good solid starting point.
So for a Stug III or a Panzer IV I would start with a Dragon kit obviously and then check with Verlinden to see what interiors they have available and if they match the correct Ausf number I was looking for. Then once you have identified what you want to do look for interior walkarounds on the net.
Griffon Model do some excellent Panzer 4 upgrades by the way and you cen purchase them from Historex in the UK. I would also buy the kit from E-models as Modelzone is frankly laughable where I live. Both of these companies offer excellent service.
I try not to purchase books in the main, they are mainly poor images of the interior and in black and white while being very expensive. Then again the Nuts and Bolts and PanzerTracts series of books are first rate.
I get most of my info from the internet, Type Stug III into the internet and try to get some images of the interior or start a build log and ask folks here for images, I have been given lots of help for my Tiger build.

thanks for that - was going to start with a cheaper exteiror (Tamiya Pz IV Ausf H for example) and then add PE scheurzen and barrel... but maybe if I can get a Dragon for not much more it is a better start... and yes I spend hours poring over google for images and usually bookmark page after sit afetr page....

Hi,
have a look at this upgrade kit for a late Panzer IV H
http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxproductdetail.php?ProductCode=GBPL35010
For £34 it repesents great value, there is a Verlinden Kit for a Panzer IV too, that and some able references will make a great model.
I was going to start a Panzer IV after my Tiger but I will make a T-55 instead

Steven, this Tiger build is simply stunning !!
I'm running out of words as you keep building... fantastic & stunning isn't worth it.
The only thing I saw that matches your builds is this:
Steven's Italian Cousin
You're going for the T-55 ?
I've been collecting all the items for a similar build, CMK sets, Aber PE, Legend & Blast sets, cables, etc.. just missing the new SKP Lenses
Review
Before we start our T-55 builds, I'm really looking forward to keep coming here check your Tiger !!
Thanks again for those tracks and congrats on your trainer, hopefully he will follow your footsteps !
Cheers !

Hello Everyone,
Its been a long time since my last proper build log post, almost two months. I guess I was burnt out on the Tiger but I was building on and off and making a few improvements.
Since the last update I have properly fitted and glued in the firewall, added all the lubrication lines and finished off the rest of the oil lubrication system.
I also made the Tigers two batteries, they started life as the Academy batteries but have been heavily modified to be more realistic.
I have used Masterclub nuts and bolts for the Tiger, they are really excellent value for money and very detailed.
Thanks for looking
Steven

Hello Everyone,
I have restarted my Tiger project I am pleased to say. Its been a few months since my last post and update but my life has been dominated by this little monster:
and I have not had the time to research and build the Tank. Well thats changed, I am now back building but at a slower rate, every Sunday and some weeknights. Full time work and a small monster do not leave alot of free time.
I have been working on the hull storage bins. One of the bins contained six 88mm rounds for the Tigers main armament and the other general storage.
It was a real pain in the bottom making these things, especially making the Tiger Ammo fit, and I am still modifying them. They are not fitted into the hull yet and that will not take place until after hull painting.
You may notice that the storage box on the right is not properly seated. This will be sorted before the next update.
The 88 rounds are not absolutely flat in the ammo bin, this will require attention and possibly a rebuild, I have not decided.
Anyway thanks for looking

Glad to see you back at it. Can't tell how the rounds sit, but I can understand being CDO. I paint tanks according to how they were done, in real life. You usually can't tell any difference, but it matters to me.

You have heard it a lot, but here it is again. Your work is amazing. Did you ever consider publishing your projects in book form?

@SDavies – Steven,
Congratulations with your new baby, he’s absolutely precious! Whatever you do don’t go and rush this build, it’s a one of a kind and so masterfully put together thus far.
Enjoy the baby and get some rest when you can?

Hello,
Thanks for the comment Villiers, I am not talented enough to contribute for a book
Braille, thanks for the comments, Tom has his moments of being cute.
There is an update comming soon btw, I am almost done remaking the hull roof support (assuming that I do not make mistake and have to start again) soon. The Verlinden and Academy ones are rubbish
