Mecanix, she's looking good.

Here's a little progress from my Paladin:
Armoured cover for the drivers hatch - 0.3mm plastic sheet with some
Dragon bolt heads.
Anti-slip made from 400er sandpaper (0.2mm thick)
Gun barrel with added diameter at the turret side (0.3mm), I checked some pics on the net and noticed that the barrel was thicker
in this area. I also caught an Adware virus doing this , so be careful if you google M109A6 Paladin. If the pic you wish copy ends in a download then bin it and check your PC.
I also added 3 mm in length to the Kit barrel because it just looks too short, well according to the pics I have seen it's so.
Here's the picture:

05.09.13 001

That's it for now, hope you like it.

Well after much consideration, I have decided to change my mind, yet again, so I can preserve the other two options for when I have more time and are more confident in my skills.

In order to not back out of this campaign I have decided to join with a 1/72 (my first!) kit.

I will be using it as a base for testing out some AK products I've bought, not sure which yet but so I don't change my mind again I have started work on it.

More pics will come next week sometime if I get a chance.

Very impressive builds so far! Looking forward to seeing some more.

Hi Alex, nice kit there, she'll look good I'm sure .
Do you mean this is your very first kit or a first time for 1/72?
And you couldn't have chosen a better place to learn, everyone
here is helpful

Hey Paul,

First 1/72 but only my 5th kit overall. Still new but I'm adventurous hehe.
I actually posted early on in the thread with a pic of my Great Wall Hobby 12.8cm gun, then later on when I had changed my mind and was considering a Sturer Emil instead...now settled on this. Anyone notice the (unintentional) pattern?

Yes this is definitely a good place for beginners, I've learnt a lot already now just need the time to put it all to use on some kits!

Hey everyone, great work as always going on in here. Those SPGs are quite the beasts.

I sat down this weekend and finished construction on the Howitzer.

Now I'm working on some crew members, I bought the 6 man crew from Master Box and whilst the poses will make a nice scene I spent some time shaving copious amounts of skull to try and get the helmets to fit so I may have to order some nice resin replacement heads

cheers

Hi Guys
Not that I'M anywhere near starting this campaign but I was wondering if a Sturmmorser Tiger
http://www.scalehobbyist.com/images/products/ITL/ITL00000299/ITL00000299_3_l.jpg
would qualify here it has a 38cm tube
If so I will most likely go with that here

I hope a Sheridan does count. 152mm should fit the bill.

The basic build was extremly fast (a few hours) now for the details

I signed up, and started a kit, but I became quite disenchanted with it, and sort of gave up.

I just received the new AFV M109A6 Paladin 155mm Howitzer.

Does it qualify? I saw some comments earlier that a "howitzer" wasn't a "gun". What, exactly, is the difference? I saw something about muzzle velocity and range (howitzer being less).

At a minimum, I'll post some pictures, this looks like one nice kit.

MBR a nice Sheridan you have there, what colour scheme
have you chosen?

Hi John, I built that kit 3 or 4 years ago, it's a cool build
compared to their first version in the 90's. be careful when adding the side armour plates there's a small fit issue
there.

Here's a quick update. Tracks will be started tomorrow, the gun cover is going to be changed, I shall use a 50 from Academy, and I'm waiting for the water canisters to arrive as I refuse to use the Italeri versions. I also used PE mesh for rear stowage baskets from Eduard, instead of the strange kit stuff.

05.10.13 003

nice work on here, keep it up.

And Dave as you can see yours won't be the first on here, looking forward to seeing the AFV Club Paladin version

I read the rules and didnt see anything about what if's ,,are those allowed ? i have a project in mind and it would fall into this campaign nicely .
The main vehicles are totally unstarted ,,the gun is started but will be pulled down a bit to this project and highly modified .

Hi John (Nito74),
there are couple of questions being asked regarding kits to build in this campaign, alas without answer from our campaign leader

How long do we wait before someone can(provisionally)take over?

@Sal

Yes, no problem !

@MBR

No problem with the Sheridan.

@Dave

Paladin's are welcome !!!

@Phil

I see no problem's with "What If's".

@Paul

I will try to answer them the best I can.
I don't know if there's a standard period for taking over Campaigns ..
Do you want to step in as leader ? or anyone else ?

Great work everyone !

I'm joining late, but since I just started my M109A2 a week or so ago, I thought it would be ideal for the campaign. This kit will be a gift for a friend of mine who served as an artillery officer commanding a squadron of M109A2s in the early 1980s in a cavalry unit. He's retiring from his current job and will be moving away from the area in a few months, so now is as good a time as any to get this done. I'll paint it in the MERDC gray desert scheme his tracks wore.

Here are the pics of where it stands. I also have a build log going in the Armor forum here .

I've finished the hull and most of the main gun (I won't detail the breech as the SPG will be buttoned up).

And up:
