Howdy,
Here are a few in progress pics of the M6 Fargo I'm working on. These are just to see what it looks like as the major parts haven't been fixed in place yet. The base kit is a Skybow WC51/51. The rear bed is from the Peerless M6 kit.
Why you may ask? Because I bought an AFV Club (Skybow) WC63 and found the sprue containing the seats and floor, among other pieces, was missing and couldn't get a replacement set. Needless to say, by the time I started mix and matching parts from 3 AFV Club WC 51's and 2 Italeri WC kits and bought an Eduard brass set and a CMK 37mm anti tank gun, I ended up casting the missing floor in resin and made the other parts in plastic (including 2 different food storage bins).
Anyway, this is what I have so far.
I blame Roy Chow for this madness. It all started after seeing his wonderful take on the M6 in MMiR #52.

Hi, All! This is EXACTLY the kind of thing that I'm talking about! If we could have a "state of the art, build it straight out of the box" plastic kit of the M6, obviously we could save a lot of time and frustration. (In some particular areas of a kit-bashed/scratch-built effort, that is...) Yeah, I'm becoming lazy in my old age... Nice job, Brian! Keep us posted on your build!

The 135 was short lived but I agree it would make a great model. Let's hear it for more Super Singles.

For anyone who has not seen the special AA 50 cal. bumper mount on the M6 I thought I should share the photo.
If I were doing an M6 I would definately have to add this detail!

That's coal gasification alright. Never would have thought the US has done such experiments.

So, I'm fairly amazed at the sheer numbers of former military vehicles strewn across the Texas countryside. I just staged and completed an artifact recovery mission from Ft. Sill to Camp Mabry to pick up four pieces and then return them here. On the way, I saw a bunch of very cool vehicles. This one was probably the rarest. I apologize for the photo, as we were driving and I was sitting in the gunner's seat of an M1083A1.
The rear axles are visible, as is the top of the cab, but that's a Diamond T 4-ton tractor sitting there. Had "Mater" eyes painted on the windshield and everything...

Another model inspired by a photo posted on this link.
I am thinking of calling this dio "Packing for the Long Trip Overseas."
Just a simple concrete covered base with a back wall papered with this photo mural and maybe a few small props out front of the vehicle.
Used the many extra Tamiya brake drums I had squirreled away in my spares box to do those rear axles, plus the many extra spare tires that come with each Deuce model to complete those same axles. I will add lug nuts later.

The trucks in the photo above are being "knocked down" to their smallest shipping size prior to being loaded aboard ship for the trip overseas.
This is why the Army requested the design of the open topped cab (originally a Studebaker concept) so that more vehicles could be stacked for shipping in the hold of a ship.

The model above is almost all Tamiya however the all metal bed came out of my CCKW spares box. I think it is from Heller but a friend gave it to me so I am not really sure.
If anybody has any old wrecked 1/35 CCKW's on their shelves they want to pitch I'm your man.

Out of curiosity, has the Hobby Boss White 666 been released yet and does anyone know when their Diamond T is coming out?

Hi, All! Nothing yet as to when EXACTLY these 2 kits will be released. I'm sure that ARMORAMA will be one of the first sites to get accurate details... The "new kit lists" on various other hobby sites only give "2013" as release dates; "caution" is the word, as to any real release dates. For instance: AFV CLUB have been saying "FUTURE" for the release of their "Dieppe" Churchill and M8 HMC kits for YEARS... I'm not going to hold my breath...

Both kits are certainly on my must have list though the "T" is at the top of that list!
Cannot wait to add them to my US motor pool! Very glad that the interest in US vehicles seems to be catching up, somewhat to the German vehicle models available in the market.

More and more photos of the pre-WWI Louis Brennan designed gyro powered monorail:
Above it looks like he is saying, "Daddddd aaare yyyou sssure ttthis iis ggggoing toooo wwwork?????"
Of course the real weekness of this design is that each car must be independently powered to run the gyros and stablize the car and the load.

Changing the angle of the gyro will cause the car to move forward or back but clearly Brennan knew this in itself would not supply enough power. He therefore added separate power units front and back.
By today's standards those power units would be a machinist's gem all by themselves!

Can anyone think of other items that I should have stripped off the vehicle and loaded in the back?
