There was also a long wheelbase wrecker as well:

I don't know if you saw this michael but it looks like hobby boss is planning on releasing a 1/35 CCKW-352, a 750 gallon fuel tanker and a soft top white 666

I knew about the White but not about the Hard Cab CCKW tanker.
Even more significant to me is the very next listing! The Short Wheel Base CCKW with hard cab and gun ring.
If there was any US prototype that I wanted to push into existance with this blog it would be this model ! ! !
Cheers and thanks for the report!

Don't mean to make you folks feel any colder than you already are but check out this wintertime photo:
Short Wheelbase CCKW set-up as a towing tractor with fifth wheel! Note the side pull tow bar mounted over the rear tires on both these vehicles (never been exactly sure just how this accessory is supposed to work) but you usually only see this item mounted on recovery trucks. These guys must have been pulling a lot of cars out of ditches this day.
Happy Holidays!
Mike
I have a book called "Redball Express", which shows a lot of trucks, carrying this bar over the starboard(?) rear wheels, but can't recall any pics of these in use.
PS looking forward to the Hobby-Boss Jimmys' they be a lot more affordable than some companies di and there will be lots of variants! yummy.

Anybody make a 1940's era forklift in 1/35th?
That photo of the guys unloading the Dragon Wagon tires out of the CCKW has great possibilities!

Interesting pictorial history of Clark Lift Trucks from 1917 until today. Just grab the timeline slider and move forward or backwards in history.

And another interesting one, which never made it to any battle field.
They are in the movie about 7 minutes after the start. And a whole row at 10 min.

Interesting type, I guess developed for the Air Force.
But maybe somebody knows more!

What about this one from Verlinden (#2622) ? :
Looks like a Clark to me :
But even though they say it's OK for the 40's, I'm not sure it's OK for WW2. The one above could be a postwar YardLift 40...

Same question for the Hyster YT-40 from MMK :

Duane Pfister built that training truck, converting Italeri's CCKW 353. He wrote about it in the august 1990 issue of Military Modeler.
