Some lovely stuff happening....
Anyway, slow progress on the SAM6:

Sean: Nice work with the SA-6. I've never seen one built up...makes me want to build one now.
Jon: Love your camo! Man, you got that together fast! Looking forward to seeing both truck and howitzer painted together.
Here's where I am on the Il-76: decals are all done, just need to finish the engines, tail gunner position and landing gear. I won't be using the tail guns as my reference pics show they had been removed.
The Soviet flag and registration numbers are homemade laser printed decals. The kit only came with modern Russian markings, and I wanted this to be a Cold War era bird. I ended up having to use two layers of decal for the flags and the red was just too translucent. No biggie, just one of the pitfalls of printing your own decals. The font for the tail and wing numbers isn't 100% exact but is the closest I had on hand without spending hours on the Interwebs looking for "the one." It's close enough for me. The numbers just about 100% match the kit decal sheet, but the "C"s are supposed to have serifs. I didn't feel like adding them. Oh well.
Into the home stretch with this one now. Keep up the great builds everyone!

Looking very nice Bill.....
OK, I officially hate "link & length" tracks!
Will have another go at this again tonight, but currently I',m left with a gap where one link is supposed to fit but it's too narrow. Plus trying to get them all in place has taken hours....and that's just on one side! A very frustrating evening last night

@Christian - You need the pe for that kit to boost the detail. I built it with the same pe some years ago and it came out very well. Enjoy, I'll be watching closely.
Almost done with my builds now. Washes completed using various items from the AK range, followed by a mist of buff for overall dusting followed by pigments. I like the colour contrast between the howitzer and the LMTV. Now I have to figure out how to take photos of something this long! Once I have taken the photos I am sure things will become apparent for me to go and touch up.

Boy is there some great builds for this campaign!
@ Jon: Wow man, you are an amazingly fast builder! Great job on those two kits!
That PE set isn't the greatest, but it's better than no PE at all and since I have 3-4 of those in my stash, I'm not going to get a better one!

There are so many impressive builds on here, especially armour which i haven't tried but now tempted. But anyway back to the job in hand. I signed up to this,my first campaign, with a Trumpeter Dreadnought 1907. I have made progress but failed to update the campaign. And now I see there is only a few months left and at my build rate some serious overtime is required. So here follows a snapshot of the build:
The hull
The deck and superstructure with some extra detail
Gun deck
Smoke stacks, mast and something we all like to see - big guns
And last, some spider webbing and boats
Time wise I think i am about half way there.
I will try and do better job keeping the campaign updated.
Thanks for the all the inspiration from the other builds
cheers
Michael

Glad to see everyone had stayed busy and out of trouble while I've been away. :-)
MSCorley: LOVE the ASU-85! Great job! I'll be starting the same kit shortly. What figure did you use? I'm looking for a crewman to compliment the two ANT Miniatures Prague '68 Soviet paratroopers I just ordered for use with my ASU, and I love the pose and facial look of the one you used.
John: I'm watching your SU-15 build with great interest. I'll have to do one to replace the horrific PM Models one I did last year.
Well, I finished up the Il-76 a couple of weeks ago but just haven't had time to post any photos until now. I added a few to the campaign gallery, but here are some others of the finished bird. It ended up being more or less out-of-box with the exception of the homemade Soviet markings and a couple of MV Products lenses for the landing lights on the lower radome.
The model won first place in the Aircraft category at the local HobbytownUSA in-store contest last weekend. Once I got past the fit issues, it was a fun build and I'm almost sad that it's finished. I've wanted an Il-76 model since I was 16 (and that was a VERY long time ago) and am happy to finally have one in my collection alongside my various 1/144 airliners.
With this and the Panzer 38(t) finished, it looks like I'm done with the campaign. But, I'll keep watching the progress of everyone's builds. Thanks for a great campaign, everyone!

I used Verlinden 1/35 Russian Tank crew WWII. I use them because the uniforms match up with the soviet paratrooper corps. Just a little paint and weathering and they are good to go!!
Have fun!!

Bill, awesome woek on the IL-76. I imagine it takes up quite a bit of shelf space!
With one campaign finished I can finally get round to making a start on with this one. Hoping to to make a start on the Zulu tomorrow.
