These are the right hand tracks that drove me insane 2 montsh ago. You can see the gap in the top left
Following some tips from here and another forum the left side went together much better
So went back and repaired the right side:
Just need to give it a heavy weathering to hide all the glue it needed and can now happily proceed to start weathering the top half.
So, I'm back in the game....

Little more done the last few nights.
I assembled the resin 4.7" main guns, 4" High Angle AA's, and the kits qaud pom-poms. The resin guns were VERY fiddly to work with and needed some careful trimming to fit. None of which was helped by the vague instructions on the back of Niko's packets. They do however look very nice, so worth the effort. A couple of the barrels look like they need some straightening out.
The kits guns have gone straight in the spares box and will probably find a home on Matchbox HMS Kelly in the near future.
Just got to work out the most likely places to add the splinter matting and then it's on to painting.
Thanks for looking,
Stephen

Better you than me Stephen! Those would have had me half drunk or insane by the time they were finished.
Nice work!

Thanks Jeff. It's amazing how small they can make all these little extras for 1/700 warships. I'm on a bit of learning curve with it, never used resin or etch this delicate before. The real fun will come when adding the railings!

If they are in PE (the railings), then yes... you will have fun!
But it's all about having fun and learning. I need to build a ship sometime before it's all said and done.

I agree, its all about learning new skills and techniques. I model for fun and try not to get too bogged down with adding a load of aftermarket if I can. I've done plenty OOB without any aftermarket stuff and most turn out looking fine. But sometimes you have to flex your modelling muscles a bit and try and do something that really pops. Ships make a refreshing change after I've worked on a load of tanks and aircraft.

Unfortunately it starts to look so,that my entry wont finish in time.. Too much things happened in RL, that caused this delay.. plus I lost valuable time with my other kits. I'll try to do my best to finish but it may happen, that I move my KV into "Unfinished business" campaign.

This is soo friggin embarrasing to say, that you may not finish in time. It frustrates me so bad, that I have nowadays difficulties to finish my campaigns in given time. Makes me wanna throw my kit into the wall. Just can't understand where I loose my time? One should know, when you enlist on campaign, that YOU WILL finish in time. About extension, you can deside what you see is best solution. If there's others, then go ahead.. but I have to say extension could help me a bit.

Here lately, I too fall behind. Maybe it's being signed up for too many at one time OR I just loose interest fast.
I know for a fact... one of these Campaigns I will not complete.

That's good John!
I'll finish the IS-3M but doubt the KV-122 will meet the deadline.

An extension would help me a lot too.
Quick build update tonight.
Looking at as many photo's of Tribals as I could showed that splinter matting was very rare on this class. Certainly not as much as some Destroyers seemed to covered in. I decided then to add some only to the AA gun pits. I might yet add some around the bridge and aft search light platform.
The sub assemblies have also had a lick of light grey paint.

I'm glad the new deadline fits !
Here's my update:
Working on the wheel parts
Also started the Aluminium Coats
And today masking and painting the green parts too.
Still have to work on the weapons, wheels and canopy.
I guess I'll be busy these days too...

Still some work to be done here.. I'm out of my comfort zone here, I'll try to do my best.
It still looks like a Sukhoi

Rob, Great looking cockpit. Are all those dials decals, pre-painted etch or hand painted?
Finally managed some final painting of the hull today. Thought it best to get major work finished as we are off on a short break for the rest of the week. It will also give the paint plenty of time to harden up. I used Humbrol enamels matt 64 light grey for the super structure, 79 blue grey on the hull and the decks in 77 navy blue. Not sure how accurate those are but they looked about right. Just needs a little touching up.
I'll apply the hull number decals when I get back and then its more fun with teeny etch parts.
Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress.

Unfortunately I have to say my project for this campaign will not finish in time, not even close.
