And after the first evening at the bench on my SAM 6:
It's going together very well. Some filling will be needed around some joins, but not much. The number of parts, before I get to the link & length tracks, is quite high but gives a great level of detail. I'll do it as 4 major sub-assemblies for painting before putting it all together: lower hull & tracks, upper hull, launcher and the missiles themselves.

I like the look of that Sal. Can we get a better photo of the interior where you've left the doors open? My only comment is the insides of the doors look too clean. I'm presuming the inside would also be quite dirty from the guns and general wear & tear

Glad to see everyone chugging along with their builds!
Sal: Looking great! You are really tempting me to get into some 1/35 railroad subjects. Are you going to do a base for your build? Lots of possibilities there!
Keith: Your sub looks awesome. I'm in the process of doing my first sub model (Revell of Germany 1/44 U-Boat Type VIIC/41) and you've given me some ideas on how to weather below the waterline.
Sean: I've thought about getting that SA-6 kit more than once. I'll love to see your finished build!
Here's where I am with the Panzer 38(t). It's more or less finished, but I'm not calling it done just yet. I'm working on a commander figure for the cupola and a base for it, and once I get those done the tank will officially be "ganz fertig." The only thing extra I did wth it was as an old MV Produts jeweled headlight lens. Otherwise it's OOB. I was really impressed that Trumpeter molded the MGs with open barrels, sparing me the work of drilling them out.
One think I'm kicking myself over: I somehow put one of the tracks together backwards. When I was putting the tracks on I realized the tread on one of them is facing the wrong way. No idea how it happened, as I KNOW I went put of my way to make sure that didn't happen. Doubleplus
And I'm also moving along with the Il-76. All the painting is done at this point.
The white went on a just a tad thick in a few spots along the edge of the tape where I masked off the underside grey resulting in a few places where there was a slight ridge of white paint sticking up. I've sanded all those down and applied a light coat of clear gloss.
The next step will be to do a wash to bring out the panel lines, more clear coat, then decals. Since I'm doing this as a Soviet era bird, I have to come up with a Soviet flag for the tail as well as CCCP wing and tail markings since the kit only comes with decals for a modern Russian version. I'll either scrounge them from my decal archives or print my own. I'm sorta thing I'm going to have to print them, as I'm not sure I have anything I can cob together an accurate tail number with.

Here you go Sean I scuffed it up a bit more but the flash makes it appear to bright
Eventually there will be a figure standing in the doorway receiving ammo
@ Bill you got some nice looking builds going on there yourself This will be the main part of the large, largest for me, diorama that I am building for the Steel Wheels Campaign. Here are some more shots

Some great looking builds in this campaign. Construction of my entry is complete (some parts tacked in place for the photo before being removed for painting), the seemingly very popular Su-152. And I can see why its popular, its a great kit at a great price. Well detailed, great fit, metal barrel, etched fret and individual track links (that push fit together) all for just £30, great value!
I'll probably put it on a base, this one is part started from another campaign. I'll pick up some Russian figures tomorrow to go with the wagon.

Has any progress pictures been shown here on this? As far as the rules go, "Must be a new, un-started kit. Can add AM parts, PE, resin as long as it is a Trumpeter based kit." Cannot use a kit that is for another Campaign.

Sorry jeff, I wasn't clear, the base is part started from an old campaign, the kit is new (pretty sure I posted way back when the campaign started).

Hi Sal, the insides of those doors looks much better now.
Well, I've not had as much time at the bench as I'd like lately but the SAM 6 is coming along slowly but surely!
Still a long way to go...

Some small progress on the Il-76: panel wash applied, and a pre-decal gloss coat applied. I started the decals this morning (no pics yet) and hope to finish them in a few days. I kinda forgot about painting the engines and need to do that this evening.
The Panzer 38(t) is just about done...base, figure and all. Will be putting the final touches on after dinner and will post pics tonight if I can.

OK, I'm finally calling the Panzer 38(t) done now that the commander figure and base are finished. Here are some pics of the finished piece. Final pics for it have been loaded into the campaign gallery.
One thing I still am going to do soon is add some leaves, debris etc. to the gutter and base of the wall. After seeing the photos, I realized the street looks too clean and sterile.
Now I just have to finish the Il-76 (and six other projects) before a contest on March 8.
Great builds, everyone....keep 'em comin'!

Well I have now just started the painting and weathering of the cab interior.
And then I was thinking, this is a nice truck so it needs something to tow, therefore maybe I will add another Trumpy kit to this build lol!!!!!

Thanks, Keith! Love the idea of adding a civilian! Thanks! I was originally planning to add a lamp post, but when the base was finished thought it would have been a bit too much. But a civilian figure would be perfect.
