I never have the opportunity to see a UM Models in my hand. How is the quality of the kit and the fitting????
The overall quality is good. I have bought a few of them recently, the OT-26 and 45mm AT guns. The main reason I did it is because they go for something like 5 Euro a piece, so its a real bargain. One word of advise, buy only those kits from them which dont have rubber tracks. The rubber tracks are rubish. Here are some pictures of the 45mm AT gun built OOB.

Here's my entry.
I got it in a trade just as you see it. Most of the parts removed form the sprues. No work has been done.

Good luck with that ASU-57 John. Expect a lot of miss-fitment and a lot of sanding. Just hope you know what you are getting into.
I haven't finished mine yet as I set it aside (too long ago) but will return to it as it's a cool vehicle.

Howdy Y'all
I just enlisted and will be building a 1/48 Tamiya T-34/76. I heard there were some issues with the kit: narrow turrent and track links not fitting. The M-8 is for the Armored Car campaign starting today also.
Take care,

yeah time to roll out!
This is what I will be building:
Its an IS-3 from Trumpeter, 1/72 kit
All in all the details look pretty good, especially the optional fast-assembly wheels and tracks:
Wanted to use them at first, and then at a closer look, realise the tracks have no internal details! The return rollers are also molded as one solid piece, whereas the actual ones are in two-halves. Oh well... have to do this the hard way then

Good kits everyone. Like the variety.
Don - the Tamiya t34 track issue is really one of the front idler position. Tamiya puts the idler in the close position which can be seen in war photos but most people prefer to move the idler so don't glue it to ensure your tracks will match up.
Also check your turret sprue as tamiya did correct this. If the sprue has a ' -1 ' or maybe it was a ' -A ' after the sprue # then you have the corrected turret. Theres not a large difference anyway.

Started yesterday, 1st sept!
Just finished tidiying up the road wheels. Bought this kit when it came out. I had done a little, assembled the barrel mainly to check a couple of after market ones I bought but they were both useless and were no good.
More soon.

Looks like we're going to have an interesting mix, can't wait.
@Greg-Thanks for the tips on the Tamiya T-34. It looks like I have the narrow turrent. Maybe I can find an after-market part.
Take care,

I'm remembering why small scale armour is such fun now - it just flies together! A couple of days work and I've already got a coat of green sprayed on - note its not as brown as in my pic, that's just the way my camera has taken the pic
Now I'm spoilt for choice on the markings. I'm tempted by the winter whitewash scheme, but afraid that it'll just look like a bad paintjob by me! Whaddya think?
Anyway, tonights job is to hand paint the rubber rims on 20 road wheels

@Greg-thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it later. For now I'm planning to use the narrow turret and populate the tank with Tamiya's Russian riders. Maybe that will make the narrow turret less noticeable.
Take care,

Well since i have it sitting next to me, here is my kit. It even has link by link tracks. Time to work a little on my scratch building skills with this one.
John what are you going to do with that, keep the running and scratch everything else around it?
Good luck whatever you decision.

Hi all,
Some progress and a little advice...
I have added a little more texture to the main hull casting do you guy's think it looks ok?
Please take a look at this weld should I replace it with one from Archer?
I have also replaced the figures heads with better resin ones. I would appreciate any comments.
Cheers paul

Paul,
I can't advise on the weld seam. It looks fine to me. Maybe a little too uniform but other than that it looks fine.
IMO you should take some fine grain sandpaper and go over the added texture a little bit. It looks a little too rough to me.
And a good call on the replacement heads. It's rarely a bad decision to replace the regular heads with resin ones.

Howdy Paul
I would have to agree with Bill. If you aren't satisfied with the weld seam you could soften it slightly with plastic cement and rough it up with a knife blade. Personally, I think I would just live with it. You look like you're off to a good start.

Some nice early starts in here, I have the base model for my entry:
But I won't be starting until closer to christmas which gives me some time to shop around for some aftermarket goodies and a crewman or two.
