Hello!
First of all: Happy New Year for all modellers!
After a long "creative crisis" I've started my new project: Tamiya Tiger I Initial Production for a DAK diorama. The Tiger even in its infancy, but the two camels for diorama are finished.
Regards
Antal

Hi Antal
looks like you have the Tamiya Dak Tiger, Voyager etch and after market barrels.
Coincidentally i have the same planned for my next build minus the turned MGs. Don't tell me you're modelling Tiger 121 as well?
Watching with interest! Looks good so far

Thanks, Sir!
Andy:
"looks like you have the Tamiya Dak Tiger, Voyager etch and after market barrels."
That is correct!
About the turret number: I planned that I build Tiger 111 based on this pic from Squadron Signal 2047.

Are you interested in accuracy, and fixing the various problems in the kit? I could give a few pointers if you like.
For example, that P.E. lock on the loader's hatch, should be on the midline.
Here's a resource about Tiger 111.

Hey David
Have you got anything on Tiger 121?
I have a list that I've put together. It's after the battle at Hunts Gap:-
Missing front fenders
Missing 2nd outer left road wheel
turret bin lighter in colour
Missing air intake pipe
tool box over right rear fender
I have this link by the way
http://tiger1.info/tank/A2A
But anything else you have would be gratefully received
Thanks

Andy;
I believe the turret bin had the original tan colour, and the rest of the tank was overpainted crudely in green. But I try to stay out of arguments about colour.
The box on the right rear mudguard is actually an MG ammunition box, larger than the Tiger toolbox.
The loader's hatch was of the welded type.
The front left mudguard isn't missing in your photo; it's bent upwards. See above.

Andy: You're welcome!
Frank: Thank you!
And here is the modified front hull. It needs some more refinement.

Nice work.
I would like to think I will have the same attention to detail - but realistically I don't think I will
Looks as though you're going for hatches open Ant. I haven't checked my kit yet, is there much interior detail or are you going to put figures in there?

All hatches will be open, but only in commander's cupola I put a figure. The rest of the crew will be outside the Tiger.
My diorama plan: a beduin with his two camels in desert, a small cactus scrub, and two telegraph poles on the edge of base...and a few accessories.
Otherwise, the Tamiya kit is not too detailed, therefore I use a lot of metal.

Nice work.. One thing I haven't seen mentioned (might be there but haven't seen it ) Is the reinforcement rectangle under the radiator caps should be removed .. I started this kit years ago but quit when the Cyber hobby kit came out .. That was the end of that ! The front extentions look great ..
I'll be watching as it brings back memories..lol

Antal, have you enough photos of "111" ? I might have one or two.
We don't know for sure what happened to "111", but the best we can work out is that it led the charge against the British guns at Sidi n'sir and it was "holed 3 times in the turret".
David

I have some photos of Tiger 131 that I took at the Bovington Tank Museum. It's the only remaining operational DAK Tiger in the world.
If you think they'd help inbox me your email address and I'll send them to you in installments.
The photos aren't the best quality from my phone, but I have most of the interesting views.

Antal,
To say that this is impressive work is a gross understatement. I love builds like this with so many others adding information. Builds like yours have always added to my limited knowledge; so thank you to yourself, Andy, David, and others, you are helping everyone who sneaks a peek here!
Cheers,
Rick

Thank you everyone for your helpfulness, infos and kind words. I only have this photo of '111', so all imagery will be appreciated.
"Is the reinforcement rectangle under the radiator caps should be removed"
Rick: I apologize for my misunderstanding, but what do you mean exactly?
Andy: PM sent.

I guess the best way is to show it.. Dragon has this right on their initial Tiger kit ,but Tamiya just kept the hull from their early kit..

Something wrong in that photo; the antenna tube (right hand edge of hull roof) should be slightly further back, with the wide portion hanging over the edge.

Thanks, Rick. Somehow I forgot this...
Today I added the weld seams. My procedure: a thin styrene rod I glued to the surface with extra thin cement, and after the softening I pushed the sample with a modelling knife. And finally here is the corrected lock on loader's hatch.
