Ah, fantastic stuff Jerry. I was reading about the fighting in this area the other day and I thought of this build! Great to see some more progress on it.

Got a bit work done on Obersturmfuhrer Sievers, the officer in charge of re-taking the sanitorium. Still isn't finished but he is shaping up.

I am tying to show the command and control problems associated with a night op. Him and one of his NCOs are trying to shift the fire of the Panther that was in close support, firing into each room before it was cleared.

Jerry,

Looking good.

I really like that it tells a story and in a realistic way.
Not sure how much more you're going to add to them, if anything, but I also like the lack of personal equipment. Too many figures have too much stuff, IMHO.
Look forward to further pogress now the weather's a little cooler....

Cheers,

Sean

Excellent update Jerry. As Sean already mentioned- the personal equipment is looking damn good. In particular I like the way the weapons are securely held- the pistol and panzerfaust for example- but also the NCO's MP40- the way it is hanging on the sling and being held around the front edge of the magazine housing is very natural and compliments the pose of the NCO with the torch.

Thanks for the kind words Sean. Yes,these guys do not have a lot of gear on purpose. The pics I have seen taken during the battle of this unit shows two types of soldiers. The track mounted grenadiers do not show all of the assault gear being worn as they kept the non combat stuff on their vehicles for the most part, carrying just weapons and ammo, etc. The other group of guys are probably from the Bn of the 1SS PzGren Regt that was sent up to LeGLeize to reinforce Peiper while the road was still open. These guys were foot soldiers and so wore the complete assault gear. Then of course, there were the tankers but that is a different matter altogether.
Thanks for looking pal,

Thanks for pointing that out Karl. As usual you have a great eye for the important stuff. As you know it is a pet peeve of mine to display the weight of the gear. If you ever man handle any of this stuff you would see what I mean. That MP40 is very weighty in person as is the panzerfaust. I always cringe a bit when I see them modeled as if they are weightless.

The nice thing about going to a hobby shop is that you may actually learn something!! At my local "Trains and Lanes" today I actually got to speak to a live helpful person and so got my flashlight guy wired up. I put him inside to show off his new lamp.

Hope it doesn't look too cheesy?

Niceeeeee! God this one is almost better than the Falaise diorama in terms of storytelling and setting a scene. I like that you're adding in Seivers too, this teally is a scene right out of history. Having read about it in the Duel in the Mist series, I'm really excited to see where this goes.

PS the light effect looks amazing

Great work Jerry, I like the way you pick out the best facial expressions on your figures and the way you reanimate them to suit the dio story. You really have a great talent for telling the story thru your figures. Looking forward to seeing more as it progresses. Best regards....Dale

That light is a brilliant idea- really adds a great touch to the scene. Can I ask though- how did you do it- those torches in 1/35 are tiny- I'm interested in the sort of light source you used and how its wired up?

Thanks Conor, the ghost of Christmas past!! Haven't seen you on this board lately and I hope it is only your schoolwork that keeps you away?
Yes,I am trying to get more into specific historical events here as opposed to generalities. Something like the incredible art of Don Troiani, just not as good.
Wishing you ad yours a great Christmas buddy!

Thanks Dale, for typing in such kind remarks buddy.
Sometimes I wonder if I pick the event and match the faces to that event or do I pick a face and make the dio fit the face? LoL
Who knows?

Thanks as always Karl,
I hope to get some pics today to illustrate how simple it is indeed to make this light set up. The model railroad supply stores are the best place to get the majority of stuff you need for this and also groundwork, etc.
Hope you and yours enjoy a very Happy Christmas!
