Hi Sean,
Right, I noticed that... after I had all glued on. I thought I could get away without doing them, but just looks wrong.
Thanks for the last pic, havenŽt had such a good view on them before, although I besed my armour on exactly this vehicle.
As it will still take some time until I get the bolts, IŽll add them within the next few days.

@Sean: Now, that IS indeed small and the alignment won't be an easy task. Any solution/idea for a rig to help with that?
I got my ASLAV painted yesterday. It was my first try at Uhu Patafix for masking. Except for a couple of small parts that got stuck and ripped off as well as some PE parts being partially ripped, it all went surprisingly well. Will post some images after the "repair" has been done.

Hi guys!
Paint time! I love camo schemes...
My Boxer is growing.
In my last post I forgot to mention that the supension is really strong and is almost impossible, because of a smart engineering, we don't have all the wheels touching the ground at the same time.
So, an update.
Starting glue the little (and not so little) pieces.
First on the back:
Towing hook (it's a beautiful part):
And all the other things, minus the mud flaps:
And the mud flaps (each one has two big popout marks tha I won't show because they are so ugly and I forgot to take pics of them):
Soom, you'll see the top of the Boxer.
Cheers!
Marco

Once the yellow and green were on, I followed on with the black and then removed the masking. There is a minimum amount of overspray to correct and some of the smaller parts were ripped off in the unmasking process. Nothing that cannot be repair, tough.
Thoughts? Thanks!
Cheers,
Cristian

If you can get it use silly putty. Never had it pull parts off.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I might have pressed the Patafix too hard into the details, tough as I find it overall sticking very well and removing good.

That's going to look awesome with all those details, Marco. But that part count and the size of some elements... that's serious work!

Hi guys!
Thanks Cristian! You're right man. Any little part count and made the model better.
So, an update:
Drivers hatch (I'll use just the upper part):
The exaust (it isn't just a pipe):
Commander's hatch and gun mount:
Although it seems convincent, it's hard to build and don't have some atachment points.
Now, those little black parts that I'll paint separately:
And everything right to paint:
Next, paint work pics.
Cheers!
Marco

Hi guys!
Paint time!
I always wanted to paint an model in those german three tone desert scheme.
As I don't have especific sets with correct colors and don't have time to buy an wait one of these, I did my own colors and I think they are good and the vehicle will looks very similar to the real.
So, lets see the step-by-step:
First of all, a light hand of automotive grey primer:
Them, is time to make the "sand" color that I used as base.
To do this color, I used automotive colors white, yellow, a little red and almost nothing black. This mix result in:
After the first color sets, I mixed yellow, black and white to get a light, faded, olive drab and aplied it in the same position of the black in the original three tone camo:
The last color is a RLM79 that I had already ready in my paint tray and, I aplied in the same place of the NATO brown:
Is it perfect? I don't think so. But I think it's a good representation of this beautiful scheme! Hope you liked.
Next decals, varnish and weathering.
Cheers!
Marco

I have been applying a (for me) new technique to emulate the tire sag by inserting a screw in the rubber part and fastening it to the plastic rim below. I think it turned out OK. The only thing I don't know yet how to solve is how to glue the rubber to the plastic. I tried both cyanoacrilate glues I'm using for the PE parts but none was sticking.
Apart from the tires, the rest is pretty much done:
Cheers,
Cristian

Love the ASLAV Christian. Never seen that idea for sagging molded rubber tires before - really neat!

Thanks, Brent! I have the idea from Fabrizio Pincelli's BTR-60PB build from the January issue of Military Modelcraft International.

Cristian,
Nice idea for the tire sag. You have some nasty looking seams on some of those tires. Nice work.
Sean,
That plow would have driven me bonkers.

Thanks, it nearly did drive me insane
I've not forgotten about this build....just slowed down a lot as life gets in the way. Some small bits & bobs added. The marker dispensers, jerry cans, lights, tools, tow-rope etc Soon be at the weathering step and that's the bit i keep putting off.....
