Some progress on my Puma. The muzzle brake may look a bit odd, I dropped the turret off popped the muzzle brake. It was promptly devoured by the carpet monster. I substituted a 1/72 Pershing muzzle brake which comes close.

Wow everyone's builds are coming along so nicely!!!!! I finally was able to secure a few hours at the bench and was able to get more accomplished then I thought. Here are some updates of today's progress and where I'm with my build

As with most trumpter kits, and or my experience with them, I needed to fill some gaps and use putty.

Got some preshading done

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel with this build!!!!!!

The springs finally arrived. I can now finally finish off this baby

While waiting I've been trying to sort out the stowage that's to be added. Been playing around with different combinations. Definitly going for the well loaded look. Lots of Value Gear and other bits from the spares boxes.

@Sean: That's going to be a beauty when done! Looks great already!

@andromeda673: Great job! I'm not much into freehand camo but this one looks great, indeed!

Cheers,

Thank you! free hand camo is not something I struggle with, however decals and gloss coat are! Regardless this was a rather fun and easy kit to build, and since I didn't have anything in my collection that was an 8 wheeler, then this campaign for me was a total no brainier!

Nice details there, Sal! I'm sure it's not going to be an easy paint on all those suspension bits when assembled... Do you have a special technique you care to share?

I have been building a BTR-70 lately and ended up brush-correcting a LOT of places on the suspension.

Cheers,
Cristian

Started on the springs. The small plastic U shackles that come with the original kit are very small and fragile and I kept breaking them. And the small size chain was too small so switched to a slightly larger size. (Daughter is wondering where her necklace is gone Just kidding). Got the 2 side chains on which kwwp the plow close if it gets blown off. One is slacker than the other but they are actually both the same length. That’s how fiddely they are

Then started on the springs & chains in the front. Will attach all the chains to the PE at the end of each arm before fitting onto the plow. As I had no U-shackles left I opened a link at each end of the chains and fed this through the hole in the PE before closing. Very delicate work and while not exactly accurate is the best I can come up with.

And then disaster strikes  Don’t ask, but I think it can be recovered….

I know Im late to the game, but I will be building a BTR-70 for this campaign. It will represent one of the Soviet's BTR's in the Afghanistan war. Im also building a BTR-80 for the UN campaign, and this is my first 'twin build' Should be fun.

Even more detail gets added, I love these Dragon kits no special technique, I just take time with the AB and everything gets covered. The hard part is weathering all this mess.

Would a MkII be 8x8x2=16?

Finally completed! This has been both one of the most challanging and rewarding builds I have undertaken to date. It's a great kit and any flaws in the build are entirely mine. And there have been a few, but I think I managed to hide most of them.

The extra stowage is a mix & match from the spares box but mostly Value Gear Details and Meng. And i think I'm going to have to do my first base to really do this credit....

Thanks for watching & commenting. Your support & suggestions have been appreciated.

Hi guys!

Wow, great models!

After a long time w/o any news about my Boxer (camera problems), here the last updates and pics of the finnished model.

I used raw amber oil paint and turpentine to made the pin wash and acrylic artist paint mixed with Vallejo black and water to did some kind of filter. After paint the final details, I used a mix of VA sand pigment, VA Iraq Sand and water to did the wathering.

You can see the result below (hope you like):

Cheers!

Great work Sean, Shawn and Marco!

@Sean: I'm glad you didn't gave up on this after the small accident. It turned out to be a beauty. The complexity of this model surely imposes respect.

@Shawn: When you think you've seen enough BTRs there comes another great one! You've done a great job on the chipping.

@Marco: This turned out great. I just love the way the colors blend together! Was that achieved by a thin layer of base color on top of everything?

Cheers,
Cristian

Hi guys!

Thank you!

Cristian, I think I achieve the blend more because Testor's Dullcote and the "filter". I never used the technique you described. Maybe I'll use in future.

Cheers!

Hi all,

I passed a difficult stage of my 8x8. I modified some front gear structure to make it can be steered.

Almost slow. But think, modelling is such funny.
Sincerely,
K.
