Turret fully primed, just need to add commanders .30 cal when it arrives. Then will be ready to start painting.
This is the first model I've done after getting back into it, and it's the first time I've primed a vehicle. I used Tamiya surface primer straight from the can, and I must say I'm quite impressed with the application.

Nick,
Your "fury" looks sweet, very nice.
I noticed in your build picks that your FDA looked grey. I'm just wondering why you used the DML FDA on your Tasca? Or perhaps it's surfacer? Anyways, it's looking super with all the stowage is spot on from movie pics. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Hi Pedro, by FDA do u mean the front differential housing? If so, it's not actually DML or surfacer, its from Panzerart, kit Re35-099. The Tasca kit does not have casting numbers or symbols on the differential cover, and the cast texture is a bit more authentic.
I'm starting the pre shading/ painting today. Wish me luck

First coat of olive drab over black pre shading. I've shaded the hull edges and joints a shade darker.

Check this out for references.
Oh my,
based on that video, Fury's engine deck looks like a radial and the rear overhang and deflector still looks like an A2. At about the 1 minute mark you can see the tank from the rear right side.
I'm confused, unless of course there are multiple E8 vehicles out there dressed up to look like fury for promotional purposes, but this tank if it does actually have a radial in it must've been a 105mm vehicle at some point.
If it is RON, would Bovington museum switch him into a radial engine variant? Maybe lack of parts for the diesel types?

Great find on the video and I think we should post links to each others threads, let me know what you think.

Nick it's going good, just a little mishap with the suspension on the co-driver side of the tank. I've started work on the turret canvas cover brackets, barrel etc.
Hey, did you use the RB barrel on yours?

Yeah by the pics, it didn't look like much fun. I can't say I've made dml hvss bogies before, but knowing SNL they would have been quite fiddly. Yeah I sure did.it was quite weighty, I had to glue the mantlet at the height I wanted and let it set for a while due to the weight.

Love those RB barrels, I weighted the turret on the bustle on mine and used silly putty to keep the barrel adjustable from the inside. I just posted some updates, take look.

I have started detail painting the logs, tools and various parts of stowage, and have just painted the name "FURY" on the turret. Thoughts?
I'm happy with the way the name came up, using reference pics from the movie poster n good old google images.
Surprised myself a little actually.

Nick,
You knocked it outta the park! Very nice! I think the letters appear on both sides of the barrel though, did you get the other side too?
BTW, I made a wheel spare from an old academy M-51 set of wheels I found stashed away in my spares boxes. I'm wondering if it was worth all the time I spent looking for it. It turned out okay, but I think I can do better, besides I have 23 more to practice on:) it'll be on my update later on.

Oh great, just the feedback I wanted to hear.yeah I painted the other side too.it varies from the other side as they wouldn't have been identical.I'm not as happy with the other side, it may end up getting re done.yeah I think I'm gonna have to buy the AFv club set I mentioned

Nick,
I'm so sorry bud. I'd offer to send you some spare wheels as I have plenty more than I need, but your in Australia. I'm afraid to ask the post office how much that would cost plus overseas declaration forms and all that bull. Then it might take forever to get there etc. I'm surprised the Tasca kit didn't come with a spare or two. I wonder if your not better off ordering some extra wheels directly from Asuka/Tasca. It'll probably only cost $4-5 American and their service is very fast. Do a google search for Asuka online shop and hit the sherman sprues links, they should be there.

Haha yeah I understand Pedro, thanks tho. Yeah I will check that site today, either that or I hunt for a cheap 1/35 hvss kit of any kind on eBay n then I'd have heaps of Sherman spares
So I ordered sprue B from the Asuka website. To be honest i never knew it. Existed. $7Au including postage, much better than $30 for just a spare. I have added the decals to my tank today. Came up a treat. I used Cartograf decals from DML's M7 Priest kit. I tried archer dry transfers first, which I've never used and it didn't really work out.

Fury is the last tank!!
Nick,
That's the same tank you posted in our previous youtube link. It's a weird mishmash of stuff and is probably being used for promotional purposes for the film in France as RON is probably sitting at the Bovington museum in the UK. I think some scenes might've been shot with this tank too because I found a still of it decked out with a filming apparatus attached to the turret/gun area. This tank appears to have the A2 overhang with the continental radial engine deck and the grouser covers. So it was most likely and M4A2E8 at some point that was converted to a radial perhaps due the combination of both shortages of the diesel power plant parts and an abundance of surplus continental engines. I think early Israeli Shermans were almost all initially converted to continentals for the same reason before the Israelis started using modern Diesel engines.
The first video you posted of it the fellas standing around it were speaking French, then you posted a video of the D-Day 70th anniversary celebrations so I'm concluding that this tank is probably in France
Here is a link to the article that featured that photo, just like the tank in your two youtube links, this tank has no mantlet attachment brackets and has a continental engine deck. Note the film crew taking a rest on the engine deck, the picture is about hallway down the page and shows the tank form the right rear with the gun at the 9 o'clock position. Check it out.
