Hi all, I am in the process of making a diorama from a scene from the upcoming Brad Pitt movie "Fury", due out November.

While I'm not the most advanced or experienced modeller, but I'm gonna give it a crack. I make them for fun and not the authenticity. For the kit I'm using Tasca's M4A3E8 HVSS. I've got an Eduard photo etch set for some additional details.

For the scenery I have various grasses and trees for the background. I am chasing up one HVSS wheel for the scene, if anyone could help that would be grateful. Photos will follow eventually. I'm about 75% through building the M4, though I only make it on weekends

Any creative criticism or hints would be greatly appreciated.

You might find this handy. A pic of the 'fake' used for filming close-up's of the crew. I took this pic at last weekends war and peace show. Unfortunatly it was the only pic I took of it.

Are you building a dio based on the movie making process with a camera crane, director's chair etc...?

If yes, then you'll need to convert the tank into a M4A2 used for the film.

OR are you making a dio based on a scene from the film?

If yes, I'd like to know how you got to see the movie already. If you haven't, wouldn't it be a good idea to wait until you see it and then choose a favorite scene in the film to base your dio on?

I have a feeling someone will release decals for 'Fury' as I believe I read somewhere on here that a set of crew figures was in the works already.

Not to copy you, but I was already planning to do this myself, but not until after I see the movie and see what items are released as a response to the film.

Good luck and have fun, the Tasca was the best choice unless your making a M4A2 in which case kit bashing 2 DML kits might be the easiest way to go.

Look forward to seeing your dio.

I have already built a Fury model. I did not find out that they used the A2 until midway through the build, so I built mine using what an army unit would have had at the time. You will need to make a frame for the canvas cover on the mantlet and turret, or you can purchase resin options from Tiger Models. You will also need a .30 caliber M1919 for the commander. For the unditching logs, I carved them from Balsa wood blocks. Hope this helps. I used photos from the Net as a guide. Just Google "brad Pitt Fury" and you will get some options

Sorry,
I don't know. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Maybe Colorado Miniatures? Red Lancers?

I'm building it from a scene from the movie. I haven't seen the movie yet but I am using a bit of imagination and artistic flare and references. I mean isn't it all about been creative.

I was going yo hand paint the name fury on the turret, only believing that these would have been hand painted 1:1 and not be identical on both sides. It would have been done in the field.

As for figures I'm going to pose my own through various companies releases and modify them where needed.

Hi thanks this definitely helps. I've got a lot of images from Google (one of the best references) and have just ordered an .30 cal for the commander. I have a legend Sherman stowage set for the unditching logs and various packs tarps etc. Id be interested to see some pics of your tank completed.

I have noticed that the tank in the movie has t84 tracks. Would this be accurate for April 1945, or would t66 or t80 tracks be more accurate? The tasca kit comes with some great t66 tracks, shame not to use them.

If you use kitmakers site for the photos there is a line at the bottom called "linked Thumbnail" and just after that there is a little icon. It looks like a picture frame with a chain link on it. Click that icon and it opens an "html code" line. Copy and paste that line here.

T84 tracks are more suited to post WW2. T66s were the first type of HVSS track with the T80 appearing during the latter stages of WW2.

Cheers Garry, as a few references I have seen I cannot find any reference to t84 tracks used during ww2 in combat.
