Just an update, I have just added the "spent" 50cal shells, mainly on the turret and engine deck, also various other places not seen in this pic. I have also dirtied up the sign in the background, and put a gloss coat on the mud in the middle of the grass.

Hi Nick,

I know that you are down under, but that's not a reason for inverted photos IMHO!

Dio looks good, inverted or not!

If you would allow me just one comment: the wave crests in the mud are too regularly placed and too round towards the centre!

But the mud itself looks superb!! Well done there!!!

Cheers

Romain

Hi Romain. Yeah I dunno what happened there. On the iPad it was the right way up when I posted it. Fixed now...I think .

Yeah they are a bit round and regular but it was my first ever attempt at water/ mud. I appreciate the honest feedback though

Thanks for the compliment and taking the time to write.

Cheers, Nick

Have just added the M.G operator and the driver. I haven't painted figures for many years, I forgot how finicky they can be.

I said I wasn't going to upload a photo until full completion but I couldn't resist. I have just completed the water/mud puddles. As I said I still need to add some scene accessories and figures.

Feedback greatly appreciated

This is looking real nice Nick!

Nick, the tiny wakes in the muddy water are a touch of genius, it really creates the illusion that the model is in motion.

Everything looks super cool, I like that your rain or wet effect is really working, the grass and the vehicle really do look like they just got some rain.

The sign is a really nice touch too, super nice Nick!

Almost finished. A few bits of scenery to go. Crew is finished. Must say I didn't enjoy painting them as much as I thought I would....I haven't painted figures for almost 5-6 years. As I've read in a few forums practice, practice, practice.

I have added a few field flowers as can be seen, and also the ration boxes.

Feedback greatly appreciated.....

Ahhh, the figures ... just what this dio needed to bring it to life!

Do you intend to tone-down the bright white sign just a tad?
A very small amount of wash in the wood joints and some dirt at the bottom of the support structure might help.

Hi Mike, yeah still need to add a wash to the sign. These photos aren't the best, but there is a bit of "muck" on the sign. I need to use better natural light to capture it all. I will also be getting a plaque made up soon with the title on it.

So I went to the local model shop to purchase some paint for my next build, when the owner asked if I was going to the model expo this weekend (it was Saturday at 10:30am). I had no idea it was on,so I grabbed a flyer and thought to myself il go tomorrow and have a look.

Thought about it some more and got the idea in my head I should enter this dio... So when I got home I rang and asked if it was too late to enter a model. They said entries close at 1pm.... I had to get my butt moving if I wanted to make it. I raced up to the local engravers to get a plaque made, took half an hour then I drove to the expo and entered the dio with 15 mins to spare...PHEW!!

So I have just entered this dio in my first ever comp. fingers crossed.

I got some good feedback even before I sat it on the display table. Will be judged tonight and awards tomorrow arvo. Am a bit nervous.

So results from the judging. Second in my class (large dioramas), and first place overall novice (first ever entry). So it was definitely worth the rush around yesterday. Met some amazing people, and in the next few months will be joining SAPMA, (South Australian Plastc Modellers Association).

I'd lift up a Sheaf Stout to toast you but it's 6:30 a.m. here ... and I can't find the bloody stuff any more!

Looks great. Just saw the film yesterday and I highly recommend it.

Curious about something: in the previews and still photos released over the last few months, it was pretty obvious that the tank is camouflage painted (with black over OD). Why did you choose not to depict this (or did you just not notice)?

Oh great to hear, it comes out here in Aus in 5 days. I think I will be seeing it multiple times on the big screen.

I did notice the black, I decided to to paint it on as personally the plain olive drab symbolises the U.S ARMY. I think the black would have been a field mod, which not all tanks would have applied, remembering the M4A3E8 was thrown into the battle very late in the war when the Allies were on a push into Germany was moving so rapidly.

True, but in the 2d Armored Division in NWE, even late, finding a tank without the black is tough. Either way, you have done a great job with this. When you see the film, you'll find the tank is even dirtier, but I think you've done great with the tank and terrain/mud/water. Great job!
