Hi Nick,
A super job on the vehicles. Lots of lovely detail and a cracking finish.
Nice one.

Nick I agree champ!!!😱
I remember the day you posted the shots of your PVC Bushings that became your Sheepsfoot wheels. In fact I used two of them that day to reconnect a couple of valve in head units on my course's irrigation system. I may well have to look around my shop if I ever start another diorama!

HI guys - -
Thanks for having a look -
Mike - well, no, I don't have a separate roller haha! - but, I did form some "foot marks" in the base? - where the wheels would have rolled - you'll see below - as part of my multi tasking, I'm working on the base, and the next vehicle - an FMTV dump truck -
First tho, Alan, Romain, Jerry, Matt, Dave and Matt - Thanks for the positive words!! I appreciate them...while this is indeed a hobby, it does take some endurance -
OK - on to a brief update.
First, if you look back into this log, you'll see Brian's reference pics of an armored dump truck - yes - that's being built now! what I didn't know at the time was that, like many things, there are several variations on the armored cab - long story short, I bought the wrong one -so, I'm converting it to something closer to what its supposed to be - please see the next ref pics:
and, in the second pic, you can also see an MRAP to the left, but not an MATV on security, along with the dump bed detail -
and, what I'm doing with the kit:
And so on - this is coming together, and while not a perfect representation, I'm ok with it - I really didn't want to rebuild the whole cab!!, or buy another kit so , I didn't!
Next - I'm adding layers of paint to the base - Nothing is glued in place yet, and I have a way to go still, but, you'll get the point, take a look:
Ok - sorry for the quick pics and the quick lunch time post!
thanks for checking it out!
NIck

Nick, I may sound like a broken record, and you may actually be getting tired of hearing it over and over...but I ageree with what everyone else has said once again!!!!
That said, have you considered the way the Sheepsfoot sits on the roadway it is working on? In my meager and modest xperience around construction sites and spending nearly every day driving to and from work on a nearly, but not yet completed ring road, I think the mass of the vehicle as well as its very function would see the Sheepsfoot teeth to be pressed into the earth.
I will try to take a picture of this phenomena tomorrow during my travels and post it, although I'm sure many images already exist on the interweb.
I know what you're thinking, has your Canadian born and raised modelling buddy from the great white north lost his mind? Has he had one or two too many double doubles from Tim Hortons? Is he complaining about your modelling ability?
Sorry, but the answer of course is no, no, and no! Okay, maybe I've had too many double doubles ( I usually take the extra large ), but I just know you would want to ensure that the Masterpiece you are creating is as close to perfect that a mere mortal can make it.
See how I apologized there. Canadians! So polite! Ok, so technically I didn't apologize, but I still think the weight of the vehicle would cause the wheels to sink into the dirt a lot more....
Anyway thanks for letting me ramble on. And I'm sorry if it causes you grief or stress trying to fix it, if you so choose to. Happy Thanksgiving my Cali bro....Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend. Have a good one.

Hi Brian, first, thanks! Second, thanks again, for the info on that cab - I was a bit bummed when I saw the kit was the wrong one!!! So, I feel better about the "close" scratch version! And, the possibility that the right one doesn't exist in a kit...
Mike, Matt, Matt, and Jerry - well, I think you guys know, once you get into a build, you need to decide if you're going for it or not - and, this time I am! As this one is based on something currently happening in real life, I'm trying to get it close! Thanks for the positive words!
Dave, well now you get the "eagle eye" prize!! The good news (for me!) is this is only a pic of the parts sitting there - nothing, not even the buildings are attached yet. Yes, ground will get more treatment - that is, I'm going to press more tracks into the foam base, but who knows how close I'll get - next, more layers of paint etc. If you can get a pic, post it!! I've found several on line, but real time is best! I've been wrestling with the color - it still needs attention, and aside from the point you raise, I'm pleased with the texture.
For tonight tho, still fooling around with that dump truck - still working on the cab....there are lots of little etch bolts on the turret ring. It's not all that hard to do, just slow and a bit tedious - and the mirrors are a pain in the xzy!!! To install and not destroy!!! I'm sorry to say, so far they look just OK....I'll fix them.
Hope your getting in the fall golf bro!!!
Cheers, and still building!
Nick

Lots of things to like here as always but the main thing I want to admire is the mix of crushed wood at the edge of the road. Very very nice touch. The surface of the road is about the best I've seen and is a work of art in itself. Do many imprints and textures plus the color! Spot on. Brilliant as my friends from the UK like to say.

I figured you were not finished with he road and all that entails Nick. And I will take a shot today on the way home of the work being done on the ring road here in the GWN. It's still dark when I pass that area in the mornings, but by the time I come home it's still sunny.
I played 18 holes in 2:04 Wednesday and shot a 78, so not too shabby! I'm hoping to go out this afternoon also, as it is supposed to hit 20 Celcius
sweet is all I got to say about that....
Later dude

Dave!! Good man!! Thanks! You've sealed my fate for the weekend - the plan was to go into San Francisco for fleet week to see the Blue Angels - they are unbelievable! But - it took me two hours to get home from work tonight...about 12 miles!!!! from downtown SF!!! The President is in town - it's a big mess!!!! And I took transit!!!
Instead, it will be a haircut, model building, and Giants vs Cardinals!! Go Giants!!!
Have a great weekend, and thanks again for taking the time!
Cheers

It is my pleasure sir. Fleet week would be very cool I'm sure. A big fan of the U.S. Navy! The Blue Angels are almost as cool as The Snowbirds!!!
Glad I could have some real input into your magnificent creation instead of just gawking all the time. Have a great Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend mate!

Hello - - only a brief update today, supplemented with the somewhat mediocre, on-the-way to work photos! - first up, the dump truck:
This is coming along - not much left, until paint and weather.
Next, on to the base, in addition to Dave's heroic recon effort, so harrowing in fact as to result in the loss of his highly prized athletic footwear, all in an effort to gain an "action" shot of, well, holes in the ground....I have also opted, at much less personal peril, to go on line and review these two pics among others:
and, what you can see is that in addition to making holes in the ground, these machines also till the ground - I've punched about 100 holes in the base - which, while more interesting and better, are not going to be enough. So, on to project "dirt clod" yes, that's right...making scale dirt clods from coarse pumice gel.....yeah, good times for me. That task will wait until next weekend -
thanks for checking it out
