Hey Kurt,

Fantastic effort on the groundwork, it looks very amazing!

Good luck with the figures, you made a good decision not to use the Dragon heads

So Kurt, what you're saying is, on "this" cold morning in December you're doing something other than working on a "cold December morning"! Haha!

Hope you're enjoying the holidays!
Cheers!

Ola Kurt

Took me a bit to read through the whole thread but you have another great dio in the makings my friend. Love the groundwork and the chaos around and on top of the Sherman.

Looking forward to how this progresses.

Hello Robert ,

it is a pleasure to have you in my topic my friend. Thank you so much for the visit and the time you took for reading this crazy topic. Your comments are (as always) very much appreciated.

Okay folks ,

i don't have updates yet about the paint work of the two WSS figures. So i have to ask you to have patience please.

Meanwhile , i took some photos of the Sherman from another angle and with less brightness. The difference in green color from the fir trees is noticeable and the monochrome color of the snow is less predominantly. It shows more realistic to me , what do you think ?

Here are the pictures

Merry Christmas to everyone !

Hi everyone ,

a smallish update (WIP)about the two WSS figures .

I'm pretty satisfied of the paint work on the officer figure on the right side because he looks convincing to me , the other one on the left however is not so good i've tried to paint a plane tree pattern (spring)on him.

The photos ,

Thanks for looking in !

Hi everyone ,

this evening on Christmas day i did a little bit more work on the two Wss figures.

i didn't like the bare hands of the officer so i gave him leather gloves and it was a good idea i must say !
The WSS officer has also a map in his right hand giving instructions to the NCO right in front of him.

The thing is i've placed those two guys in front of the Sherman and for the moment it looks like they don't care about the wounded American tanker. That means also that i have to find a solution for the interaction with the tanker...But hey , it's me Telly Savalas !!!

Ow ! I almost forgot to give the pictures

Thanks for watching !

I agree the plane tree could use work, but that Italian Pattern... Wow! That looks like it came out just great, really good from what I can see. I also love where you posed the two figures. The Germans chatting about what to do next while the GI looks on in disgust... So, mad props for that. Really like how you're throwing this all together.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Conor .

thanks for the compliments ! Coming from a specialist in painting camo patterns that really means something . The idea is to create a scene where an American unit was quickly overrun in the pine tree forest , the German elite forces forced the unit in defeat and there's no time to waste.....

Thanks again for looking in , much appreciated !

Hi everyone ,

it's very silent here and i don't mean my thread alone !!!

Okay , i've noticed on the increasing number of views that there is still a lot of interest for this project. I thank you very much for that !

On the pictures below you will see that i have made 4 more WSS figures . The bodies of the figures and the equipment , weapons consists intirely of Dragon parts from different boxes . So if you're looking for these figures on the net , you won't find them i'm afraid except for the heads they are from Alpine Miniatures .

The guy on the left with the goggles (spare part from Tamiya ) is the driver of the motorcycle with sidecar ....Yes , from MB or MasterBox.

Please have a look ,

Thanks for watching !

Good choices for figures. I agree about the lack of posters. It has been really dead around here for a few weeks now.

Kurt, it looks real good to me, I only see one thing that may be off kilter (out of place) From the top view it looks like fresh snow on the right track but no snow on the broken one or path from the right one. If it snowed after the fact then there should be snow on all, if not then no snow on the good track. But I really am enjoying this thread. Keep it up!

I read through the entire thread and I must say that this is an inspiring build! Great work so far.
For the interaction with the wounded US tanker, maybe a German soldier pointing his weapon at him like a guard? Another idea could be a German medic, tending to his wounds? Possibly even combine those ideas

Yes you're right , but the broken track isn't finished yet. It needs a little bit of work and then at last i'm going to add very light snow on it. Well noted and thanks again John !

- Johan , thanks for the visit and the possitive comment.

Yes indeed it is my intention to have the wounded tanker interact with a German figure . If you look on my previous post (concerning the four figures ) You will see the figure with his greatcoat holding a semi automatic rifle in his hands .. that's going to be the one standing in front of the tanker .

The scene with the tanker is very dramatic because he is badly wounded and the only survivor of the crew + the Germans are not from the werhmacht in fact they are very fanatic and battle hardened soldiers with no compassion to their opponents. And my idea is to create a hard scene between the tanker and his adversaries where there is no room for sympathy. No medic !
Nevertheless , you have good ideas !

This evening (Western European time ) there was a Christmas parade in my hometown and with this picture of the event i wish you all Happy Holidays !

Gelukkig Nieuwjaar, Kurt!

Your diorama is fascinating! I like the idea of a medic for the tanker. I read in Infantry Aces: The German Soldier in Combat in WWII by Kurowski that Wehrmacht medics were armed - Feldwebel Franz Schmitz (Knight's Cross winner). You could combine the medical care with an armed guard.

I like the parade train!

Perhaps the medic can dangle his first aid kit in front of the GI. "NO bandagez for you ze American!"

Thanks for the possitive comment ! The tittle of the diorama is ''in the cold morning.....'' to me it has two meanings ,
firstly ,the weather is freezing cold and a deeper meaning , the whole atmosphere on the scene is stone cold !!! The WSS unit was ordered to not have any delays and to push trough as fast as possible....

So the American tanker has to climb out the tank all by himself without any help and hoping that his life will be spared.....

It's true that German medics were armed espescially on the Russian front.

Thanks again Frederick ! Much appreciated .

- Johan , well i guess that would be a very stupid thing to do . He will need every clean bandage to take care of the wounded on his side . And thus the German medic would grab the first aide kit inside the ruined tank. But your idea shows that you have a great sense for interaction (if you know what i mean) . That's talent in my humble opinon.

Thanks for the reply!

Not true..!!! I'm still here...and kicking (sort of)!

It's just I've barely left hospital (second session of my new chemo) and I'm unfortunately gravely fatigued!!
So I'm not kicking heavily!

Best wishes for you guys!!

Cheers

Hi buddies ,

a very Happy New year Jerry and to Romain ein glückliches neues jahr, ich wünsche Ihnen gute Gesundheit !

Happy New Year to all of my buddies too !!

I'm back with sleepy eyes but nevertheless in great shape .
I agree with Jerry , its like a very long time ago when the dinosaurs lived on earth and all of the sudden a meteorite struck the earth....just a few crocodilles survived the impact... euhm something like that

Well , this crocodil is still alive and kicking

Stay tuned !
