Hi guys ,
- Conor , glad to have you back mate and thanks for the support it means a lot to me. Well said , this diorama is a summary of little vignettes....
- Nick , thanks my friend for the nice words and for following up this project . Much appreciated !
- Jerry , thanks for staying with me and to give me advice brother. The interaction of the figures is an important aspect on dioramas because otherwise you're not able to tell the story properly. And that's something that you can handle also very well, in fact you're the Master !
- mike , hey buddy thanks for looking in and the possitive comments !
And now to everybody again ,
I have finished the second panzergrenadiere , he's standing next to the machine gunner and it's not looking good for the sake of the sergeant ....they're hesitating what they are going to do with him ??? That is the scene i had in mind with the sergeant .
Please take a look at the pictures , and yes Romain there's a shine on the helmet that's the coat of matt varnish still wet
Maybe i'm going to add a third figure to the scene but i'm not sure yet , it is almost time to start building the Panther.....Yeehaa !!!
Thanks for looking !
Kurt

Hi guys ,
i've added a third wss soldier to the scene and i don't regret my decision. The small scene with the sergeant and the wss soldiers looks very realistic to me....
There are no more figures to paint (except for the Panther tank commander) so this part is finished and i'm pretty satisfied with the result so far.
It is time for the Big Monster......but first , please have a look on the pictures.
Thanks for having a look !

Hi Kurt,
I think the third soldier somehow adds balance, not to mention adding even more tension to the scene — good call! Looks like his left hand is grasping the tree — a little hard to tell but if so, nice touch!
And now that Sergeant is really shaking in his boots!!!

Hi Kurt,
agree with the comments above!! The third figure really adds to the scene!
I like your photos very much....they are very consistent with the cold surroundings! Great show m8!!

Hi Kurt,
This scene is really shaping up well - really nice placement of your soldiers in the forest! Looks great! I know the trees and landscape are "old news" but, they still look great!
Looking forward to your next post!
Cheers

Hi guys ,
thanks for the replies !
- mike , you are absolutely right about the third soldier buddy , he's holding his balance with the elbow against the trunk of the pine tree...while he aims the Sturmgewehr or MP 43 on the American soldier . The Sergeant does not surrender because he's afraid or scared, he is just holding up the WSS so that his squad can escape to safety....a desperate attempt to buy some time for his men. The American GI's who were fighting during the Battle of the Bulge are my heroes ...i just can't help it . Thanks for the positive comment .
-Nick ,Romain and Jerry also thanks friends for the nice words and the support really appreciated .
I have taken better pics of the third guy, please have a look;
And now it's time to start with the BIG BEAST...
Thanks for watching !

Hi guys ,
unfortunately , i didn't have the time yet to start with the build of the Panther so i'm sorry for that. No updates!
Anyhow i'm going to finish this project for sure!
I have found a link on You tube of a real life Panther tank ausf G which is displayed in the museum of Bovington . It's the same tank and version ,only mine will be smaller in scale of course.
Okay here's the link ;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ouJGApkWzU
Does someone have an idea why there is no zimmerit on this version of the Panther tank ???? Any thoughts ???
Thanks for watching !

They stopped applying the zimmerit around the middle of the summer 1944. So I think maybe very early G models may have it but none after that.
For example all of the Panthers in the 1SS PzRegt used during the Ardennes were mid G models issued around Oct/Nov.44 and none had the zimmerit. IIRC a few had rebuilt turrets that still had zimmerit but that's it. Same with the TigerIIs in the 501 Schwere SS Pz Abt attached to the 1SS Pz Div during the Ardennes. All new tanks without Zimm.

Basically anything built after September '44 had no zimmerit, with the exception of, like Jerry said, re-fitted tanks. I know Ostwinds and Wirbelwinds often had old Pz IV chassis with zimmerit still on it.
Excited to see the kit build up, for some reason that particular one always appealed to me. Probably the great box art
Good stuff dude. Still following, but not in a creepy way

Nice work Kurt.
I really like how you've got the forest to look dense.
Quite foreboding...
Cheers,
Sean

Thanks mike for the reply A little bit late for my reaction but it's nice of you to keep following this project.
I was crushed by the elephants after the yelling of Tarzan so next time i need special assistence i call '' The A-Team ''
So far the joking now more about the diorama . A little while ago John had mentioned me that there was no snow laying on the broken track . He was right so i've added snow on the track and also the surrounding area. I also changed the color of the soil , it's painted black so the contrast between soil and snow is much more noticeable . But besides that, it looks better too IMO .
Concerning the panther , well.......euhm..... i have to confess that i even didn't start building the tank yet. Shame on me ! But okay , this week i have more time to spend my energy in this project so updates will follow soon.
i have two pictures , the first one shows the terrain and the snow on the track.
The second photo shows the large size of the tank by laying the hull on the muddy road . There isn't much space !
Thank you for watching guys !

Hi Kurt - you are indeed the king of chewed up, snowy, twigs and mud! I almost can't believe how good that looks! I'm glad you're still at it on this build - maybe I missed a post or two? Anyway, looking forward to you getting the big iron on there too!
Cheers

Looks perfect "Ardennes-cold", wet and dirty and unfriendly!
Reminds me of my youth!
Enough space to fit the Panther in, but just so!!!
Well done my friend!!!
Now we want progress! Think you can manage??
All the best

I'm enjoying this build Kurt, well done, as I said before it really works for me, the instant cold dark and dense feel, everything blends together nicely.

Hi guys ,
- Nick , thanks for the kind words . I don't feel myself as the King of chewed up , if i'm able to put my thoughts into a visual creation , well then i'm a very happy modeler. So far so good for the moment although your compliment is very flattering. To be honest You and Jerry , Romain , Claude , John,Conor,Dave and others are also Masters of creation in dio-land.
-Romain ,also thanks m8 for your reply.
And you know what you're talking about for sure !
Let's hope that i'll be able to build and paint ''The Beast''and to finish the diorama. You want some updates?? ....wait and see ....hihihihi....
Take care !
- John , it's nice to have you back and i'm glad that you are enjoying the build . Coming from you that means a lot to me !Thanks for the nice advice and don't forget to show us your Hürtgen Forest or some progress.
