Feels like I'm on a monologue, but anyway here's the latest on my artillery observation vehicle.

It must be because everybody is left speechless! Seriously, I'm absolutely amazed by the idea itself and by how well you have implemented it. Great work! I'm surelly following this with a lot of interest.

I am with Cristian on this one. Definitely a learning experience watching your model come together. Might have to put this on the To-Do list. Hope you can sling paint at it soon.

Will be checking out your store too....

Thanks guys - now I'm embarrassed!

I was just hoping I'm not the only one still building this late in the campaign...

Don't worry you're not alone. I've primed mine but cant seem to get time to actually put down some paint.

Uugghh!! I'm having serious paint issues. I love their colours, but mig ammo paint sucks. paint separation/adhesion issues are making a mess. not going to be able to finish my Leo. sorry.

That looks bad, Ian... Have you tried cleaning the surface before painting? Might be "just" body oils affecting the adhesion.

Don't give up on this!

My 1/72 Leopard is waiting for the weathering then I can call it done.

Hey Guys! My Pre Production Gepard is coming along fairly well.. everything apart from the tracks has been completed. I purchased some excellent aftermarket parts from Leopard Club. I apologize for not posting photos on the campaign thread, most of my posts have been on the leopardmania 50 facebook page... off to japan tomorrow so hopefully i will be able to finish it in time :/ we'll see
also, it appears i have no more space left in my Kitmaker Photos so i'll upload one only when its finished

Ian, ouch! Is this perhaps a reaction between primer and paint? I'm not a huge fan of Ammo - I prefer Tamiya mixes because they have plenty of "bite". Did you manage to wash it off? Or can it be stripped?

I managed to get my own priming done today (rattle can ran out just as I finished!).

Rivet-counting question to all - when the 1A5s were made (by reworking older marks) did they repaint everything in NATO-flage? I'm thinking insides of hatches, backs of road wheels, belly plate of hull, etc... Answers on a postcard!

Hi everyone, thanks for the concern. I wish it was just a "dirty" model, but I had just primed it (last week). AMMO paints are notorious for seperation/adhesion issues. I won't be buying them anymore. thankfully i'll be able to strip it and start again. who knows maybe I'll can get it done on time, but right now it's been boxed.

The weathering is finally done so I'll call this finished:

Not 100% satisfied with the weathering and there are some very visible building problems but I noticed them too late to be corrected without much effort.

Got some 3-tone pint on my build over the weekend, but had a small drama. The hose on my compressor (from pump to regulator) sprung a leak! Fortunately I was able to rig up a patch, and the replacement should be here by the time the paint cures enough for the next step...

2 weeks to go until the Campaign ends. I cannot extend it as it could go on forever, so I hope those who are close to finishing will do so. Good luck guys!!

Don't forget to add photos of your finished model to the campaign gallery on Armorama. https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/30157

Broke the air hose yesterday AM, ordered new part that afternoon, found it on doorstep today! Super service from the Airbrush Company!

Glossed the model just now (to test new hose, honest!), waiting to add decals and minor pin washes - should make the new deadline...

Well, I could do a bit more detailed weathering, but I'm out of time so this is officially finished! The tracks were a real problem - the Meng end-connectors tend to break with little or no provocation. I lost several even BEFORE painting, and had to repair a few when installing the painted items. The odd thing is they break a couple mms inside the pads, so you get a loose connector with two stumps that slides out when you pick them up! Never had this level of fragility with Bronco tracks of similar design. And the only paint I used was acrylic, so no chemical issues here.

Still, it's been a fun build. Mike, thanks for running it and offering the extension! I copied two of these into the Campaign gallery.

Fantastic build, Kenneth. How did you do the camo mats on the armor?

Great builds in this tread!

4 DAYS TO GO chaps!!!!

For those who have finished and have forgotten to put their photos in the Campaign Gallery, please do it now: https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/30157/page/1

Well done to everyone who has finished. I can't say well done to myself as both of my entries are far from complete.

I think I will keep the Leopardmania FaceBook page going, so for those who cannot finish in time, we will still be intersted to see how your models are progressing over there: https://www.facebook.com/groups/798668223575193/ I will also open it up to Leopard 2 modellers, so let's keep this going after August 1 as a non-campaign bit of fun, and keep on posting on FaceBook!

I forgot my progress shots,.. maybe because i was embarrassed about what i brought to this campaign,.. without really looking into it i bought the "old" Tamiya kit (cheap) but not worth it due to a small problem with the plastic,..not mentioning even the inaccuracy of the kit which i found out doing a little bit of digging into it,.. oh well, kits need to be build so why not give it a shot,..

deformation,..not nice

super glue even did not help!

so after long thinking what to do with this little frustration i dicided to shoot it,..

More to follow this heap of junk

Some excellent cats..... definitely a campaign that I will be bookmarking, and hoping for a second installment soon!

Jan.... Shooting the old kit was a great idea! It formed the basis of my BARV and did a solid job at that. One thing, have you seen this book review over on Leopard Club?

http://leopardclub.ca/reviews/books/Trackpad/Vlieland/

Might be useful for your build...

If you have completed your model and are not here in the Campaign Gallery, then please hurry to do so or you will not be entered.

There are still TWO DAYS LEFT for those who like to leave things to the last minute.

We haven’t announced a judge, though most will be expecting me to make a decision - I guess. Well, I am finding this hard, so can I make a proposal?

1 Judge your favourite 1st, 2nd and 3rd entries and choose from the list above.
2 Fairly obviously, you cannot vote for your own model:-)
3 Post your results here and I will work out the winner on August 2.

Does that sound fair?
