My MEXAS is finished, although I'm not too happy with it. Starting with a "2D" infantry phonebox (which was replaced with Revell, as were the taillights), a warped TC's gun carriage ring (which was replaced with Revell part), and a matte finish which turned the tank from bronze green into greenish grey. I tried to cover it up using dust...

Being a Leopard fan and ex-Leopard commander it has been great to see all of your builds regardless of whether you finished them or not. It is fantastic to see that interest in the Leopard 1 is still very high.

Michael, thanks for running a great campaign! Applause to you for the effort and dedication you put in from start to finish.

My top three selections:

#1- Leopard BARV- Bob Wiber...for the pure amount of scratchbuilding work put into the build and the excellent unique result.

#2- Leopard 1A3DK (with matts)- Kenneth Ostergaard...for the imagination and effort put into creating the camouflage matts and finishing the project off with a scratchbuilt crew.

#3- Beobachtungspanzer- Tom Cromwell...for the work dedicated to converting the kit into a great looking Leopard 1 variant.

Bob, Awesome built! i think i did not realize you used the Tamiya, thanks for the link i based the end result of the built and the dio on some internet pictures but i might be tempted to buy that book.

The result without dust and pigments,.. i just ran out of time and the mud pools did not completely set

and although i never been to the range i have a couple of the slugs used to make the Leopard look like Dutch cheese,..

Thanks

For me it's:

1) Bob's BARV!
2) Ken's 1A3DK,
3) Jan's range target.

Jan, I really love what you've done there! I'm a sucker for the truly unusual, and I do like these abandoned old hulks.

Some magnificent builds, and a lot of ideas that I hadn't considered, and will be incorporating into my own builds in the future.

And Michael.... thanks for all the encouragement, the management, and then assigning the hardest part of the entire campaign.... the voting.

Not easy to pick 3... felt like I was splitting hairs...

Just got my Leopard finished, lost time for various reasons, even with the extension. I think fear of the unknown does not help in my second year of building models to a finish after nearly 40 years of not modelling. I think I am improving and hope the model looks ok. Not much weathering but never had the time.

and the finished model

Thanks for running the campaign. I learned a few things which was good.

The Leopardmania 50 Campaign is now officially closed. Many congratulations and thanks go to those who completed their models in time.

We had 49 entrants with 13 great modellers being successful.

The Campaign covered 15 pages in Armorama with 366 posts and over 55,000 views. I would call that quite successful!!

I guess you all want to know the results?

I have used a medal system of Gold, Silver, Bronze for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Votes were made separately on Armorama and also on the Campaign FaceBook page.

In third place was Kenneth Ostergaard with his imaginative matted Leopard 1A3DK, also the only model with a crew. Kenneth received the greatest number of medals with 3 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze.

In second place, Tom Cromwell’s marvellous Panzerbeobachtungspanzer received 6 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.

In first place, many congratulations go to Bob Wiber for his very brave, largely scratch-built, Dutch Leopard BARV. He received 7 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.

Jim Carswell, Bobber Moller, Mike Norris, Jan Jansen, Kevin Brant, Jurgen Schulz were the other contestants to receive votes, with Jim getting one last gold medal.

Now someone needs to tell me how each of the 13 finishers should get their ribbon, ‘cause I don’t have a clue!

Bob also gets 100 euros worth of Leopard Workshop parts, plus a refund on any parts he used in his model, so I will be in touch, Bob.

An excellent campaign, Mike! And thanks for the extension!

Bob, that BARV deserved even more Golds! Can't wait to see what you make with the prize - hopefully in another Leopard Campaign? (Mike, that's a subtle hint...).

Since I haven't written here on Armorama but on Facebook I just want to show here my detailed pictures of my Leopard. The kit was build out of the box except:
- tow cables and brackets
- MG butstock
- handles of air cleaner and fuel covers

Hello John
How do I send them ribbons when I don't know their email addresses.

And once they have them, how do they put them on their signature strips?

A little bit of help would be gratefully appreciated.

On the Campaign page there's a link, "add/remove award" and then you have a check list with all Campaign members, select them click SEND AWARD at the bottom of the page.
It will be on their profile page in a few seconds.

For fear of seeming incredibly dim, the Leopardmania campaign is no longer there as it is no longer active. Also, looking in other still active campaigns, I do not see "add/remove award".
