Absolutely... put a figure in front of it and it looks correct! Great looking figures BTW! And I figured there must have been a reason for the taut cable... so you couldn't get some small round balsa to bend that tight? Even if it threaded through the eyelets? Won't small plastic rod bend with a little heat? Just wondering... round rod would look okay... but when you put in perspective of the whole piece, play that artistic card... hell, play the whole deck on this project. It is a massive undertaking and looks incredible!

Hi Cheyenne
Nice to see your progress, looking very good. The discussion on scale (and home repairs!) is pretty interesting. I use a fair amount of eyeballing and no plans per se myself...sometimes it's a ok - and sometimes, not. I remember working on a street scene some time ago - a particular European model builder (our dear friend Romain) was sure my proportions were wrong, wrong, wrong! I thought something was wrong, but just couldn't figure out what...so, I did the same scale test you did...and, Romain was exactly right!!! One door was about one scale foot off - too short!! Crap! Out came the knife! And the door and its opening grew!! Haha! It made a difference!
Happy building
Nick

Hi Patrick , yeah tried plastic rod also , no go .
Hi Nick , I've also had my fair share of scale modeling faux pas .
I also build outta my melon but I do keep an assortment of figures around for " does that look right reasons " .
Even figs. from different manufactures have scale issues .
Claude of Clervaux fame and I used to go round and round over architectural issues . He once told me " change that , in architecture that doesn't even exist " and he was right . All in the name of getting it right , because when you're finished it may be too late to change something you worked so hard on ......... and have to totally rebuild something rather than nip it in the bud .
Well I rethunk [ that is so not a word] the black and white tile around the base walls by the pool .
Something just didn't look right , to me it clashed with the blue and white tiles on the walk around above the pool .
It was Art Deco-ish looking enough but the two didn't sit right with me for some reason .
So keeping with the whole Victorianish , Art Decoish , Art Nouveauish styles I'm shamelessly mixing ............
I've reworked the walls where the black and white tiles were and replaced them with a painted Art Nouveau mural look instead .
I keep having to remind myself also that this is just a backdrop for the debris which should be the focus when viewed .
Pics to follow tonight .
Besides , what could go wrong , if everyone doesn't like it I'll just blame Patrick .........
Just kidding , the two tile colors have been bugging me for awhile now , and the changes I've made will stay no matter how garish it looks .
The important thing is I'm happy with it .

Well,I don't know what the answer is with the tile color question. Maybe you could contact Nichole Curtis from the DIY channel? She could probably fill you in on what's what?

Who? Me? Do I need to be quiet? Sorry, if I offended... I don't do new guy well... and trust me, as someone with five figures in a dio to do and never done figures, I will make plenty of mistake!

and I had a beer and looked at the pics and the real build which made me decide on this new path . I thank you for that .
Weather it'll be a good decision or not we'll see .

I changed the black and white tiles [ didn't like the look ] to a Art Nouveau painted wall mural of a good ol German forest .
I can add chunks of bricks and blocks strewn around with parts of the painted mural on them when I start with the debris .
Messed around with the lounge , piano and such , did some wall painting in and outside on the lounge walls .
The sooner I finish the first floor I can start on the roof and start adding the debris , .............. building from the ground up .

It looks really excellent. You are going to have to tack down that rug. Its a tripping hazard.
