Ok, since the tumbling guy didn't seem to go over very well how about the severely wounded guy? ... He still needs some work on the scarf and other details but....you get the drift. He cannot get outta dodge as fast as the others.

I think the 'Tumbling Guy' can still be salvaged — maybe with some twisting at the hips. But I agree ... 'Severely Wounded Guy' is better. And just like me ... he's draggin' ass!

I like the "tumbling guy". His facial expression says "How did that happen?" after he's gone A over T, to me. Once again a really imaginative pose. I know what you mean about frostbite. I ended up with it in 1988 on a NATO exercise in Germany from stagging on in the snow in just normal combat boots. Since then I've hated snow lol.

I think severely wounded guy, and tumbling guy are worthy of the call Jerry. By the time you have them knitted out and painted, I think you will also agree. My favorite guy still has to be falling fast down the hill guy! But they're all great Rutmans's!

in my opinion, I think they're both well worth keeping. Really adds to the scene.

I think the falling guy looks good- the 'what the hell happened there?' expression is spot-on just as the other Karl mentioned! The crawling guy also has a very convincing 'determined but clearly in a lot of pain' expression- I think its perfect for the figure and what you are trying to convey.

Mike,
maybe he will make more sense when you see what position he occupies in the dio?

First Karl
Dave and Conor,
Thanks so much guys, for the words of encouragement. I am kind of getting bogged down here gain and it was nice to get the verbal kick in the buttockle area.
Karl,I had frostbite a number of times while stationed in Ft Carson and also training in upstate Minnesota during the winter. Average temps in the minus 20 F range! You really have to treat it like the adversary it can be,if ignored!

I have not posted in a few but have been busy.
The basework is about 90% finished. Looking at these pics I can notice things I need to remove/replace or enhance!! This is my first cliffside dio. I flew over this spot with my computer and Googleearth to confirm the color of the rocks, etc. We actually have several areas in Pennsylvania with this color or colors,red/pink and grey mixed together.

This was later in December and so I included tiny patches of unmelted snow. There were conflicting reports about the snow but as there are no pics of this area with snow on the ground during that period I have to assume the snow mentioned in some anecdotal evidence was found under the trees in the forested areas above the cliff. The road was also a bit wider but had to be compressed a bit here to get the point across. Sorry.

The water draining out the cliffside didn't project as much as I thought. Maybe needs some enhancement?

Anyhow, these are the pics,I hope you enjoy them!

Hi Jerry..,
Just stated looking through your post, really great stuff!!
The animation and the work you've put into your figures will give you great looking guys at the end..., look forward to the painting! Started working on something new myself involving a rock face, and yours looks superb, very realistic. The differing shades & levels work well.
Will look out for further updates now, well done!

Simon.

@Greg-thanks buddy! I appreciate your comment.
@Simon- Good to have you on board Sir. This is my first cliff type project. I sometimes forget to reference real nature but I did so this time. Hopefully I will improve. I am more comfortable working on figs.
Thanks for the kind words!

Hi Jerry,
You have been busy, indeed. That’s some serious headway ... simply amazing!

You’ve managed to create some very realistic looking groundwork here … reminds me of the shale cliff-bands along the Delaware River.

Looking forward to the figure additions!

Hey Jerry- been working on some rocks myself for Bundeswehr dio! This particular rock-face is amazingly detailed- the natural formations and erosions in the rock face look very true to life- in fact with the right out-door lighting and a careful photo-crop you could probably pass it off as a real cliff! I'm curious as to what material you used for it as it seems to hold the natural look of the rock very nicely? The scree and vegetation are also really well placed and further enhance that natural look- plus the water leaking from that area is nice- I'd agree it perhaps needs a bit of enhancement though to show it off more clearly. I can't wait to see some of the figures on this!

Hello Dan!
I was up there in Camp Ripley 3 times. Once for getting qualified as a winter warfare instructor, then returning to train the company I was in at the time. The third time was during the summer to be on the eval. team working with the Mn National Guard.
Had some free time during that one to enjoy the upper Mississipi. Lots of turtles!
But man...that winter stuff was brutal! Average temp without windchill was around zero F

@Kimmo-Thanks for the kind words buddy!
@Mike-Yep! Lots of places in Pa. like this, specially up in the coal regions
@Nick- You are kind of making me blush there buddy! Thanks for the very generous words and also nice to see you back"at it".
@Dave-Thanks for taking the time off from your monumental work to type in something buddy!
@Karl-Thanks for the on the point statements as always brother! The Irish do have a way with the language.
No big secret to the cliff. Hardware store variety Plaster of Paris for the rocks, etc slathered over a base of stacked cardboard. I used to prefer the stuff I got in Germany as there was about zero shrinkage but I don't live there any more!
Scree was stuff scooped up from my driveway ramp after a good rain. Wintertime bushes are part of a floor cleaning pad, pulled apart, leaves are good old Birch tree seeds. I still have to paint the road a bit more as it is too uniform in color and too "light" for winter maybe? I see my bits of leftover snow also shrank so now they are almost invisible. Oh well, this is why I take this in progress pics, isn't it?

Thanks so much all,for taking the time to comment and also all you lurkers! Thanks for lurking but don't be shy!

Awesome war face! Damn. Only thing I might add is a bit of gloss to the blood running down his hand, give it a bit more of a realistic and fresh look, not to mention accentuate it a bit more.
