I have decided to start a build blog on my Bergpanther D. I have had the TMD Bergpanther conversion for a few years sitting in the "stash". It is now time to start it.

Question...can I post pictures from my computer or do I need to have a photobucket account? Any help would be great.

Anyhow...I'll start posting pictures once I figure it out.

That should get you started. Am just not sure how much gallery space is given per member -- 10MB??? Like myself there are members who pay a monthly subscription and one of the entitlements is additional gallery space -- 500MB, the last time I checked. Photobucket is an option as well.

For the photos, apart from uploading them to the site, you can use also www.tinypic.com which is very simple and does not even require you to create an account (although you can, if you want to keep track and manage your uploads)

Ok...here goes. Like I said earlier I have had this conversion in my collection for a few years. I was lucky enough to pick it up from a collection.

The panther kit is of the D version with zimmerit from Dragon.


I have already started. I cleaned out all the extras from the lower hull and have the floor and side walls installed. I will post pictures when I can get a chance.

Looking forward to seeing you working on this kit. I know you've had this one on your wishlist for a long time. Good luck and happy building.

I take it the Tiger Models resin conversion offers a full winch kit as well???

Yes the conversion come with the winch, spade and complete interior minus the engine compartment.

And I agree....I am really surprized there isn't and good plastic model of the Bergpanther. The Italari offering was lacking in a lot of detail. But it was a start. This is why I snapped this conversion up when I had the chance....

I will follow this build, I just got in Panzer Tracts 16 in the mail. I have been thinking of buying this kit.

It is well worth the price. TMD really out did themselves on this one. The only problem with my kit is that the upper hull is badly BADLY warped.....to the point i am going to use the Dragon upper hull. But all the other castings are good.

Stayed up late last night and got the lubrication lines built and mounted in place.......

Lots of good work right there but the result is really worth it! And you are still only on the floor!
This is going to get complicated.

That looks like it was tedious! Coming along nicely, will be following this.

Hate to be impatient but at least it means I am very interested: de winch, de winch let's get to de winch!

Many moons ago I took two of the Italeri Berge kits and tried to build the most accurate model of this recovery vehicle that I could muster adding in some individual track links, some etch and a few scratch built parts!

Great job Michael! Hoping mine turns out as well lol. And yes the lubrication point were a trial in patients lol. But you will be able to see them when the upper hull is on. As for the winch...I will be starting on it after I get the transmission sorted out and fitted. The instructions are very firm about following them until you get to the winch.

The transmission is quite a "kit" on its own.

Sorry I haven't posted any pics the past few days...getting up for work at 3:45 am and putting in a 12+ hour day really wears you down. But don't worry...work is still being done...slowly lol.

Hello Chris, nice job on the lube lines. I am watching with much interest, I have looked at buying the TMD set many times but it is expensive and competeing with other items for my limited hobby budget. I look forward to your next update. Best regards....Dale
