@brezkinaprez, the people who model WW2 German stuff without swastikas reside in Germany or France where that emblem is outlawed. I've never seen a American modeler who omitted a swastika from a Luftwaffe subject. Ever

I don't know if that applies to models built and displayed in one's home, but I know what you're talking about. However, I have encountered a few folks from other countries who claim they won't do it for ethical/moralistic reasons, mostly on airplane forums since that is where you usually see a swastika. But I believe the big black and white crosses on the wings and sides are still enough to make the average joe think "black cross=German=Nazi", just like most of the people I know who see a red ball on a plane and think Pearl Harbor.

I just hope Archer don't do a set of 1/35 posters featuring Muhammad, because I have no tolerance for those who promote idolatry.

The only picture of Mohammed on a 1/35 poster I would like to see is that of my pal Moe, who operates a doughnut shop (Moe's Doughs) in my neighborhood.

No connection to the dead people turning up in the park, I hope?

That white stuff looks a lot like hair from someone in their 50's.

Of course we're all on a no fly list. Anyone remember the Clint Eastwood movie "In The Line of Fire" where the bad guy knows how to perfectly use resin casting techniques to build his gun? And as Clint Eastwood investigates he flips through a model magazine and says something like "They have a weird sub culture?"Eventually, wikileaks is going to upload the files on all of us and the model sites we use.

Reminds me of the song Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie.

"And friends, somewhere in Washington is a black & white study of my fingerprints..."

Or, the point in the movie Clue when the phone rings, and somebody asks "Why is J Edgar Hoover on your phone?" To which the cynical answer comes back "Well, he's on everyone else's phone..."

Those are coconut creme doughnuts and are the best in the city. He also makes a fantastic maple bacon doughnut.

What dead bodies in which park? There have been so many, it's hard to keep track of them all.

I overheard pogo stick-shaped Emerson and Palmer discussing the vibrant "art scene" in BushPointBurg. So, I introduced them to Lake and drowned them.

I've just found this picture of a model built by a social justice warrior. Notice, if you will, it doesn't have a flag that denotes any country that could be offensive to anyone from another country, it doesn't have any religious icons or imagery so it won't offend anyone of any religion. It has no color so it won't offend people of color or people who lack color. It has no corners so no one can be hurt. It doesn't glorify violence, oppression, history, truth, imagination or creativity:

Moe doesn't; but, there are some good Polish bakeries that do, along with chrusciki. What's the sitrep for flacki, bigos and kielbasa up by you?

That's racist. It's white. Snow has incipient racism because of its whiteness. Anything white is a slap in the face of people of color.

Sorry, but in this game of PC you cannot win.

Lets be open to an opinion here. I can understand those that are uncomfortable with this due to it bing current, what it represents and the activity taking place in the Middle East and Europe. Yes there is the argument about the SS and swastika, but these are in the past and so represent events that occurred in history rather than the current news feeds.

Yes the swastika is in the past but in some countries they don't let the past die. Here in the U.S. I've seen the flags with the swastika being proudly carried by white supremacists during rallies and the confederate flag, which goes back even further in history, is still a rallying cry in the south. Here in the Pac Northwest people proudly fly the number 12 flag which really offends many Bronco and Green Bay fans (I hear about it constantly from family members who live in Wisconsin and Colorado). We have become a world of over sensitivity where people over react to very minor things. The swastika and confederate flag are not minor but a decal on a modelling site was way over blown by an effing moron. If we remove everything that offends everybody than this world is going to be a real boring place. So save your indignation for something that truly deserves it like people who over react to very minor things.

Well, yeah. A couple of years ago someone got real angry because a diorama depicted a dead US pilot. It's the same indignant rage culture as the different "gates" on Twitter: shirt-gate, for example.

Hi guys

Wow, this thread is running fast and its full of passion.

I think some folks jumped to the wrong conclusion with an earlier point I made. It was simply to say that trying to put the models we make into camps of 'good guys and bad guys' is of course subjective and doesn't really get any of us anywhere. After all every soldier, sailor and airman has been a bad guy to someone - the enemy.

Ultimately what we model is a choice, and we should all be free to depict the subjects we choose. Trying to ban things by outrage or other means puts the whole hobby in jeopardy in my view. What's worse a swastika or an Isis flag? The answer of course is it depends on who you ask.

I say we should defend each others right to model what we choose, and understand that our personal emotions aren't a good reason to stop others from doing something that they think is right. I believe its called free speech of a sort.

Happy modelling (whatever your subject!)

S

Scarred, please clue me in on why the #12 flag would offend anyone? I haven't heard about that, but then I don't follow sports much.

The "12" flag is a tribute to the Seattle Seahawks fans who, being the loudest fans in sports, are considered the team's "12th man" at home games.
