At that scale, how much thinner can you get??

Clayton, you’re right, it is pretty small!

I had already replaced the thick kit connector piece between the headlights with a length of Plastruct .020 inch diameter rod; Angel’s photo has prompted me to replace that one with an even thinner .010 inch (.3mm) piece!

With basic construction complete, the ZIS is ready for paint. Those goofy ski-things for the front wheels are kinda cool, but I don’t have photoetch chains on hand to attach them and the campaign deadline looms, so I’ll just forgo them for now.

According to Soviet rules, you can have your truck in any color you want, as long as it is green...

@ Tim - I'm enjoying your little 1/72 build immensely! Those "goofy ski-things" look fantastic! — reminds me of Dutch children skating on an ice pond!

Hello fellow half-track mates,
Wish I could post some pics, but as you can tell from my previous installments, Photobucket has screwed me over royally.🔩

[Edit: Image links have been repaired]

Meanwhile, I’ve been busy doing … well, busy work on the M21. Stowage has been painted (50 shades of OD!) and is getting strapped down all over the place. The dashboard has instrument decals from Archer Fine Transfers, and the driver is in place idling the M21 while having a smoke.

In addition, I've been doing some very minimal weathering as I go along.

Dashboard & fire extinguisher decals.

... and a little strap detail for the Value Gear resin US Army Musette Bags.

Please stay tuned …

Cheers!🍺

Calling this one done. I let it sit around too long.

Hi Chris,
Awesome! ... Your T19 came out looking great. I love all the 105mm gun details in the cabin. Congratulations on a very clean build!🍺

Thanks all. Noticed that I forgot to paint my rear marker lights. That's a quick fix. Inspired now to do one of the mortar carriers in the stash.

My contribution to the campaign:

I've held off on the oils as I intend to do a whitewash as a future exercise. The kit-supplied decals were unusable so I had to dig up some from the spares box. "Loki" came from a braille Morser Karl kit.

Enjoyed building this one -- this half-track surely came out as one big beast.

Thanks for having me in this campaign, and congrats to all!

Cheers,

Tat

Tat-Very nice shading and tonal variation on what otherwise would be just another bland dunkelgelb finish.

Fantastic Tat. The last part sure lived up to the promise of your chassis pics.

Will be interested to see the whitewash finish when you get around to that, so make sure you post them!

Lovely panzerwerfer Tat, hopefully one day mine will look half as good.
I got the photobucket email a couple of days ago, and while my pictures are still up here, I have decamped to imgur anyway and hopefully I can get it to work (techno-luddite)
Last views before the hull is closed up

Given how many variants of the 250 that Dragon have made you might have thought they'd provide a driver who actually fits the position - this poor man has lost his right foot and half his leg just to get him in the seat and when in the hull his left arm bumps the spare vision blocks while his right arm fouls the instrument panel on the upper hull piece (more surgery - right arm amputation and carving).
And the finished article

I suspect the commander will be having words with whoever mixed the green Tarnpaste, too thin and came out of the AB as too wide a line.
The star aerial made it almost all the way through painting before a careless knock snapped it halfway up, the repair spot looks better to the naked eye.
Thank you for giving me the spur to get another box off the heap

Richard, Really nice work on your Sd.Kfz. 250/5 and the camo scheme!🍺
I feel your pain when it comes to driver fit ... and all that third-party image hosting BS!

Hiya kids! It's showtime! ...

Dragon 'M21 Mortar Motor Carriage'

Some serious weathering (Ardennes Forest mud) will follow with the construction of a diorama base sometime down the road. Meanwhile, this one is done for the campaign. ... Whew!!! 😅

Thank you Clayton, for hosting this awesome campaign. It was a great pleasure to be a part of this fun group and to see all of the fantastic Half-Track builds!

Cheers!🍺

PS: Hope to see you guys in the 'Jeeps' campaign!

Thanks all for the kind comments -- glad you liked it!

Mike, that half-track of yours surely is packed for one serious mission. Congrats on your finish! Yeah I think I've signed up for the Jeeps as well.

Richard, your camo looks fine. Freehand AB -- that is something I have yet to try myself.

Cheers,

Tat
