You are right. I kept double checking the instructions to make sure I wasn't missing something. The wheel connection seems very poor. Besides that a decent kit. I bought it in a kit that came with a 251 ausf C to tow it.

Update.
I got the base coat of dunkelgelb down. I used a mix of 50% Tamiya XF60 Dunklegelb and XF57 Buff over NATO black. I'm not sure if I like the result but I think it will improve with filters/washes. The periscope/ optics were painted seperately and are not attached yep. Well, let me know what you think. Thanks.

Bryan, might be a bit dark, but I am sure it is realistic. The whole academic discussion on shades of paint is superseded by reality, weathering, wartime conditions etc.

I say keep it as it is. It will look great when finished.

Ended up mixing a little white with my dunklegelb blend and shooting another coat. Much happier with the results. Will post a pic after I complete a few more steps.

Ok here are some updated pics. The instructions did not say where to put the decals. Did 2 filter washes with yellow ochre over the lightened base coat. Will do pin wash soon.

Would a missile launched anti air kit qualify for this campaign? It is technically classified as air defense artillery after all or would this be too far from the spirit of the campaign to qualify?

I wonder if MLRS would be acceptable?

For some bizarre reason the tyres are part normal styrene and part dragon styrene. Given the flexibility I would prefer they had done them as a single piece of dragon styrene so there isn't a seam that's impossible to clean up properly. Didn't want to risk trying to sand the stuff and ruining it completely.

I would actually prefer they had just done the tyres in normal styrene since the yellow/orange rubber really doesn't add anything to the kit, and paint just seems to rub right off. At least the old Tamiya rubber tyres are black like the real thing.

Painted, dirtied, and finished unless I decide to abuse it some more.

I wasn't planning a crew and diorama. I usually only do 1-2 figure sets per year and am focused on a different build right now. The possibility is not ruled out.

So dragon have screwed up the ammo limber.

I spent about ten minutes going over the relevant section of instructions to see what I had done wrong, and then realised the offending part is molded on and not one I added in the wrong spot.



I will need to cut the offending part off and relocate it before I can add the wheels.

I was hoping for some honest opinions on my artillery piece. I got home late from work last night and decided to start chipping the piece while everyone was asleep and I had some peace. I'm afraid I may have gone overboard though. Tell me what you guys think. I want it to look pretty beat up but not like it was in a field for 50 years. Note to self, paint the tools after chipping next time.

I agree with the others Bryan. The gun looks well used but cared for in that it's not allowed to get caked with mud and other crap. The wear is subtle and not overdone.

I'm with the guys Bryan, I'd say the gun's weathering is just right and not overdone. Do the same with the wheels and you're all set.
