Thanks for the extension More time to fix my Tiger.

In any case, here it is right now. Not completely happy with the wheels though. Will go over it with some more pigments when I get back from a work trip.

Without giving to much away. It will get the rest of the items put on it still and then adjust the track sag.

Beautiful build, Lapman! Another master piece from you.

I have finished my 1/48 Tamiya I. I took some artistic license on the camouflage, but it looks cool.

For starters, thank you so much John for the extension.

Due to health and family issues I've been away from the bench since December last year. This would have been another campaign down the drain if the extension had not been approved.

I finally managed to get back to the bench and got this build going again.

Got the tracks assembled and weathered.

Camo is done. I resprayed the turret camo as I was not happy with the finish. Even though there is lots of scope for improvement, I'm really happy how this turned out.

All glossed up and ready for the decals and final assembly.

All assembly completed. Let's get on with the weathering.

And she's done

I feel I may have gone a bit overboard with the weathering. Ah well, I'll chalk it up to experience. Tried a lot of new weathering methods with this build and had a fun time doing it.

Dustin, Thanks a lot for an excellent campaign. I'm sorry iut took me so long to finish it. See y'all in the next one.

Cheers

Wow! There are some great looking cats here!

Nigel,
Your Tunisian 712 looks great!

Richard,
Congrats on completing 114. The striping is perfect!

Jesper,
Love the circle camo! I actually want to try on some German steel in the future.

Daniel,
Your mammoth 233 looks great! Love the damage!

LapMan,
Your 232 looks great!

Raj,
I've missed ya! Love the way you weathered those tracks. I gotta figure out how to make mine look like that.

Finished up my big kitty. He's a bit different.....

The Soviets had captured many German tanks and that raised the question of rearming them. They could be pressed into service and they would not have to worry about ammunition supplies.

This idea first came up in 1942:

Quoted Text

"According to the information supplied to you by deputy chief of the 2nd department of the Artillery Committee of GAU RA, engineer 2nd class comrade Getman on the necessity of re-arming captured tanks and SPG, and the discussion with engineers Sinilshikov and Pererushev, we decided that the following installations were possible:

76 mm F-34 tank gun on the PzIV tank.
45 mm tank gun on the PzIII tank.
45 mm tank gun or 20 mm ShVAK autocannon on the Pz38(t) tank.
122 mm howitzer M-30 on the StuG SPG.

There were also plans to rearm the Tiger with the D-10T and the Panther an 85mm gun. The soviets worked out that it would take 90 man hours for such a conversion. While the soviets made it through the tank shortages of 41/42, by 1945 there was no longer a need for rearming captured tanks and all work was stopped.

but what if....

Congratulations to those who have finished thus far; and I encourage those like me near the goal line to attempt a finish even though in reality you know you may not. Transfer to the Unfinished Business 2018 campaign and it's all good.

Less than 24 hours to go in my time zone; I will have pics to post tomorrow as it is dark here and I need the sun to help with lighting. I was going to apply light weathering but the sealing coat bubbled a decal so I need to fix that first. Other than that, she's finished. And I have learned I will either use aftermarket or paint my own markings from now on, rather than deal with thick Japanese decals that refuse to take setting solution. I am DONE with that.

It is 6:34PM July 1st, where I am, so this may be the earliest I have finished a campaign; i.e. more than an hour to go.

My initial pic from so long ago:

And some early work:

And the final product sans some weathering, pending the decal repair under the folded wing (extended wing is not attached as I need to add some non-visible means of support):

This is Trumpeter's F6F-3N Hellcat nightfighter. People say the shape is off but it looks like a Hellcat to me, and most people who visit me will likely ask, "Is that a Corsair?"
