Peter, best of luck on your wife’s recovery. Sounds like she knows you well and she’s a keeper! And best of luck on the old kit.. some of those are rough.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I'm living off a few hours sleep as she can't get comfortable for very long. Our 20th wedding anniversary was not spent as we intended!

Peter, I wish your wife a quick recovery. I thought it was very touching that she could make a wisecrack about “plastic junk“ right after such a serious accident. The best of luck to her!

And good luck on that old Crusader kit, too!

Sorry to read about your wife's accident, Pete, and I know how uncomfortable she will feel over the coming weeks - been there, done that...

On the plus side, in years to come this is one anniversary you will remember and get a laugh from!

Just wanted to comment on everybody‘s progress....

Shawn, the Flak 38 and the figures are coming along nicely.

Kalin, your Flak 36/Sd.Kfz. 11 combo looks good! Those are really clean builds, and the dunkelgrau/dunkelgelb contrast is striking.

Mike, good progress on your ZPU. After such a tricky build it must feel good to lay down some paint on it.

And Bogi, hope you can get that compressor problem sorted out, what a pain.

Jerry

Well, not yet. I still have my daughter and her boyfriend here. I can already ask for extension... And I think Peter will follow in my foot steps.

An extension would be great! I'm about to start working on my Trumpy SA-4 Ganef while the paint is drying on my M9 ACE.

Yes, not getting much bench time at the moment as the smell of styrene glue can set off my wife's migraines - not being the brunt of her anger (more than I am now - she is not a good patient!!!)

Feel more like a yo-yo, up and down all the time. At least I can still visit here on my Ipad….

Peter, you sound like you are married to my wife.
Considering that now you have a situation where you are really needed, work bench comes secondary. And, as I remember when my wife was in similar condition, real pain is yet to come. She has been sleeping in seating position for three months. So lack of bench time is totally understandable. And it will last for a while...

She has been sleeping sitting up on our Sofa. I have to sleep there as well, so she can get me to help her. Our bedroom is the opposite end of the house. It is NOT a sofa bed. Luckily it is a long L shape so we can both have room. Great to sit on, not to sleep on. 3 hours sleep in total last night. I feel an afternoon nap will be calling.

I hope you wife improves too Bogi. Maybe the family visit will perk her up.

In the home stretch on the ZPU-2. A more fiddly and more challenging build than either Meng's ZU-23 or ZPU-1.
Needs the wheels/fenders added, some detail paint, attaching the scratched charging cables, and pigments to blend it to the groundwork.

On the plus side, the fit of the ammo box racks to the gun was much more solid and easily achieved than I had feared.

Thanks gents,
This one is plenty fiddly, but the linked and movable gun and sight assembly is really nice.

I am going to finish this one and take a break before tackling the ZPU-4. I hear it is a fiddly beast.

On the other hand, the new Das Werks 3cm flak looks like fun. Probably ought to finish this one first though, it's not like I don't have enough stuff for the unfinished business campaigns already.

Pics going into the campaign folder, wish me luck..

I'll post a pic of it on an existing base later tonight. Still have to place it on its own base.

Thanks gentlemen, it's an interesting subject for sure and not a shake and bake kit by any means.

I do see I need to repair that footrest and paint the stretched sprue cabiling I added to the charging handles. I wish I'd going with a much lighter base color on this as the weathering has really darkened the final effect.

Of well, next time.
Sign me up as interested for Anti-aircraft 2020.
I'll stay subscribed and keep an eye on the rest of these fine builds as well.

Now to paint the Millenium Falcon and finish the Ka-50..
Mike
