Do you think that looks like rust on the shovel? I was going for paint/primer/bare metal. Maybe my color is off?

Hello Jerry

Now you say that it does look like primer. Reddish brown, brownish red, not much difference
So nothing wrong with your colour…...

I am in a "mediocre modelers" group on that platform and I can tell you that lots of that work is far from mediocre. The name is just sort of tongue in cheek and the page was started by a LHS owner in the Phoenix.

Whenever someone asks about figures, I always refer them over here to look for three names... Rutman, Tim Dioramartin, and Cheyenne. Don't know if they bother but boy, can they learn sum stuff here!

Well, thanks for the huge vote of confidence buddy. I appreciate that. I don't think you have anything to be shy about. You build great stuff!
J

I always enjoy seeing what you are working towards... it gives me a place to dream and have hopes of someday achieving. But I muddle my way through...

Keep it up, Jerry!

What was odd about it was I did reply. I put my response in the middle of your quote though,so It's kinda hidden. Sorry, another manifestation of my encroaching dotage.

I was thinking on putting a few POWs from the HJ in next to the officers group, waiting to be interrogated.
I have this guy from Miniart. Here he stands right out of the box.

He is supposed to be wearing the 4 pocket erbsenmuster cammo suit but the jacket is too too long and his pockets way too full for a POW that has just been searched. Plus, his arms are in a wonky pose.
I also doubt he would retain the belt. That would have been dropped along with the rest of his combat gear when captured. His trousers were given some volume as these tended to be very generous in cut.
Here I began measures to fix those issues. I need to smooth things out and add buttons. I think his pose looks way more natural now.

Hi Jerry,

I have to say - at the risk of your diorama becoming designed by committee (!) - that the POW might be a figure too far. The Brigade Commander confirming orders with his senior staff officer and the Tank commander is one thing, but the presence of a POW? Not so sure.

It may of course depend on the size of your base, but a separate POW would require at least 1 x escort, if not 2, and he would possibly only be present if he had something to say which would impact on the Brigadier's plans/thinking, so you'd also need an Interpreter figure, and possibly a presence from the Brigade Field Security Section.

If he had no relevance he'd be doubled smartly to the rear to await interrogation - eventually - in the POW cage. And would a diehard Nazi such as an HJ or former LAH soldier be that likely to offer anything up of value ie to be present at the Brigadier's Orders Group?

Anyway, this is me possibly overthinking the scenario; it's your call Jerry and God knows we've always been wow'd (Note: is there a verb to "Wow"?) in the past with whatever you produce so over to you! Please keep at it.

I have thought about everything you wrote as I was building this guy. You are right,he wouldn't make sense to someone who knows how these things work. Brigade Cmdrs in the middle of an Op.have way too much going on for this to concern them.
I will just take a mini break from the big thing so I feel like I finished something!

I tried out my new Andreas flesh colors paint set and worked on his jacket. I love the Andreas set. It sort of blends itself!

Jerry, I'm afraid to say that I have been guilty of a little lurking on this post... I just never seemed to find the time to post.

I'm loving these Brits and your first foray into armour for several years.

And now this fantastic German. He certainly looks suitably cowed...

I understand the view that you would be unlikely to see a prisoner in such close proximity to a staff meeting, but I'm sure a little artistic licence will allow it. He will provide a good contrast to the plucky Brits!

Another combatant you've breathed life into! Cunning focus so it looks like he’s moving, & he’s got that perfect mean/defiant look. The hair’s the magic touch, instantly reminds me of those post D-day newsreels of just-captured disheveled youngsters - bravo JR

Thanks for commenting and breaking radio silence! Nice to read.
I have already put this guy into another vignette I am working up right now. Just thought he may fit in here but nah...not the place.
Thanks again man!

Thanks for your always incitement comments man!
I was going for that look exactly so I suppose I succeeded!
The blurry focus was not by intent so thanks for the huge leap of faith regarding that! No cinematic genius going on here for sure.

As previously noted, this dude didn't make the cut into the current project but I went ahead and finished him anyway. This pic has slightly better focus.
