Only 2 more months (and 1 week) and we're in business!
The Dutch Twenot-forum apparently had similar thoughts and we kicked off a similar "campaign".
Text is Dutch, but the images speak for themselves.
A lot of inspiration!!

It is great to see the number of people who have joined this particular campaign, I am sure Shep is looking down on the campaign with a smile on his face. Shep opened my eyes to diorama modelling as I am sure he did for many others. Good luck to all of you

Howdy Ron, A question or two. I know that aftermarket washes & pigments are not allowed, us old farts probably still retain the old school techniques. Can we use acrylics or just enamels ?
Thanks and I'm on the search for my old Shep Paine copy of "How to make dioramas" softcover. Maybe do a copy cat build from it.

Go nuts!
Acrylics, enamels, oils, pastelchalk... doesn't matter.
Just not ready made & bought.

I am in, most likely with something Tamiya. Just not sure what yet. I have a couple kits in the stash which meet requirements. Will just depend how I am feeling when the campaign starts

One month left people!
I figured a reminder would not hurt. Might even pick up a few stragglers...

OK Ron, let me start.
Tamiya SAS Jeep released in 1974, Italeri Jerrycans released in the 1970s, and remains of Italeri Commando Car (released in 1980).
And I'm 100% sure that this will be the model I will finish in time for the very first time.

Here's my entry into this campaign. It's an original a modeling friend picked up for me at a show, however no Shep Paine Modeling Guide for improving the kit was included.
Lot of really neat selections for this campaign. Hope everyone has great health for the New Year and lots of fun for this campaign.
Cheers!

My entry;
It will become (hopefully) an ambulance jeep as used by the R.C.A.M.C. or Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps during WW2.
Which version I have not decided yet, but I am leaning strongly toward this one:

Howdy Y'all
This will be my entry for the campaign. I also have Verlinden US Tank Crew figures in metal. I want to use them but need to figure a way to mount them in the tank.
Ron-looking forward to your build. It looks like a true Shep Paine project.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

This will be my inspiration picture purported to show an M60A1 of the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany sometime in the 1970's.
(Image source was apparently Pinterest but I failed miserably in posting a link.)
Now the color scheme seems a bit odd to me as it appears to be a very sloppily applied MERDC desert camouflage! Am I close do you think? Anyone have any other ideas?

Hi Nick, that looks like the MASSTER scheme that preceded MERDC.

Ah OK that makes sense for the time. Thanks guys! Looking forward to it now as I love doing camo on tanks! I still think the paint job looks sloppy in that picture so I have a dilemma of copying the picture and having it look like my painting is sloppy or doing it neatly and not be faithful to the pic!

Jerry cans are definitely within the time frame. Don't know the actual date, but I know I had them way back when and Scalemates shows Kit 403 Road signs, the next kit number in sequence, as issued in 197X..

Always copy the real thing - it really ticks off judges when you can back it up with photos!

Cool choice of camouflage, Nick. I agree with the guys stay true to the original.
Looking forward to follow your build.

The image is to small to study properly, but I don't think it has been done sloppy, really. The colours and pattern seem pretty ok, when compared to others. I just can not figure out that white paint on the front though. Some exercise markings?

Hi,
First I'd like to wish you all a happy New Year!
Here is my start photo. It is summer here in Argentina so I will start my holidays soon, hence no modeling for a few weeks.
I´m planning a scratch interior for this and may be an Afrika Korps vehicle.
Cheers

I think that white bit on the M60A1 glacis isn't paint, but some cloth-based object. There is another white object between the third and fourth road wheels too. And those bolts on the lower glacis are interesting - not sure why they are there.
That object above the mantlet looks like an upturned field-made BBQ! And it was very considerate of the designers to make the front fenders just right for snoozing...

I still plan on building this kit for my entry.
I built it a couple hundred years ago when I was in high school and I am looking forward to building it again. Not sure if I will use the figures or not. Guess I will make that decision as I go.
Thanks,
Randy
