Hi Sinsling, your image ref had a missing back-slash at the second IMG tag:

Paint is on. Tamiya XF-65 Field Grey and XF-69 Nato Black both thinned with Mr Leveling Thinner. Base coat was sprayed from my Badger Patriot 105 and the camo sprayed though my Badger Renegade Velocity.

Some update pics! Big old motorization holes on this baby which I am patching best I can. It is somewhat hidden by the tracks on the finished vehicle but I can't abide such gaps so thay are to be banished!

I decided I did not like the commanders cupola shape so a started on reshaping it:

Almost done! Just need to smooth out the latest putty a bit and can move on to detailing the tub.

My completed build: 1/35 Tamiya’s boxing of Italeri’s commando car.

This is how it will set on the shelf and is not campaign compliant, some of the stowage is Tamiya kit plastic which is past the cut off date and the headlights are sticko dots.

Thanks Cam.

Nice job, Ryan!
I have added a base coat on my Sherman. Still a lot of rigging on the missiles to do. Then stowage etc. weathering will be very heavy as the ones I have seen in pictures during the winter of 1944/45 were extremely muddy.
More to follow

With the tub cleaned up it was a straightforward task to assemble and detail the hull.
Wheels and tracks went together quickly courtesy of polycaps and vinyl tracks. This was pure fun! Kits like these sure delivered on the fun factor ya gotta admit!
I left off the headlights as I want to do something about the clear lens. I also left off the barrel rest so I don't go knocking it off later.
The only aspect of the build that has been annoying so far is that the plastic is a total magnet for any stray fur floating around which is becoming a huge problem with 5 cats running around! I fantasize about modelling in a 'clean room' but the reality is that I lack the heart to yell them out of the room. They look so hurt!
Anyways now onto turret detailing with some Milliput tarp molding in my future. In case you were wondering Milliput was founded in 1968 - I just looked it up. (Ain't the web a marvel?)

Yeah, this campaign is seeing some old-school craftsmanship.
The styrene in my AFV Club M730A1 Chaparral is pretty hard stuff!

Thanks Jasper.
I have always liked the look of your Sherman kit but never got it because of the things you have dealt with.

Finished up work on the engine for my Panzerwerfer 42. I added a distributer cap made from round stock and spark plug wires electrical wire. The starter adjustment bracket is from plastic strip, reinforcing ribs on the valve cover are thin wire, radiator hose is from stretched sprue fan belt from metal foil and reinforcing strips on the transmission are soldier wire.

Well done gents!
I hope to get something done this weekend too.

A few more weathering layers. some dried mud made with Wood putty and acrylic paint and a little sand mixed in. Several light layers of highly thinned Tamiya buff as a dust layer. Then, a few targeted pin washes in brown and black. The end is in sight.

Hey all!
Finally getting a start on mine.
And here is a link to where you can find most of the pamphlets Shep did for Monogram. I posted it earlier but I don't think anyone noticed.

Cheers Rob.

The choice is between the Tamiya (1974) pair with the Commanders resin conversion (1991) and Tamiya DAK infantry (1974), or the Monogram pair (1974) and scratchbuilding the SdKfz 263 conversion along with Airfix multi-pose Afrika Korps (1976) modified to become a crew.

I might just go with both: one pair for the Shepherd Paine campaign, the other for the 20/20 campaign.
Either way, lots of scratchbuilding, modification and reassembling of figures. Fun stuff!
