I will join with either Revell's Jeep & trailer, to be converted into a Canadian ambulance or Tamiya's M151 & trailer to be depicted during a Reforger exercise during the mid '80's.

I'm saving a re-popped Monogram M48A2 just for this! Will add lots of classic hand-made goodies, but will avoid anything too accurate that might detract from the ambiance...

Glad you stuck with it Ron. I am looking forward to this campaign. I ordered a reissue of the Monogram 1/32 "Screamin' Mimi" kit and have it sitting here waiting to go.
Thanks,
Randy

Marder was 1993 with new parts from the 1977 kit.
M730a1 was 1989

Thanks Ryan!
I've got a couple other older kits that I'm going to look up and see where they fall.

@ Randy; I am sure there will be a few Monogram-kits popping up. I always found the Sherman Calliope a bizar oddity.
@ Richard; I most certainly remember that Marder! One of the earliest kits I built and the one where I tried an airbrush applied camouflagepattern. It didn't end all that well.

Yeah, I was hoping I still had the old Tamiya Gepard; but can't seem to find it. I've also got the Dragon M270 w/ M26 rocket pods kit that came out in '92.

I shall be in with the Airfix M3 Grant. I'm planning to basically use period references (aside from the ones I've shown, I've also got a couple of old Squadron books - B.T. White's British Tank Names and Markings and British Tanks in Action) and also period aftermarket. I'll be on the lookout for some Airfix Multipose 8th Army Infantry to provide stowage.
This looks like a surprisingly good kit - much better than its contemporaries, the Tamiya and Monogram M3 Grants.
Cheers,
Scott

I cannot decide between the 1980 Italeri 203 M32 boxing or the 1974 Tamiya MM143 Ford GPA kit.
I would want the M32 with the crane deployed and maybe a T1E1 mine rolller kit added. If I understand correctly OOB there was a M32 with a large hatch, weather it was pre/post war doesn't matter to me. The mine roller was probably never used on this version and making the roller might be outside my skill set/timeframe. I don't know of any kit bodies that I could switch out with and still fix the theme/spirit of pre 1994.
The GPA seems easier and more likely to finish with only small detail changes. Havn't found a scheme or conversion I like.

If you could locate one, the old Nichimo M4A1 is a small-hatch version that you could swap out with the Italeri hull. I'm really not sure of the quality. It's possible there are some old resin M4 or M4A1 hulls - or even the old MP Models M4/early M4A3 injection-moulded hull? I think that dated from the late 1980s.

Scott

No, just turn away and use modern after market pieces for an accurate M32.
The Dragon M4A1 early dates from 1996 so just misses the window for the campaign.
The Nichimo kit is just lacking is so many ways and the collector's prices you'd have to shell out, might as well live in 2019 and get an Asuka M32.
If you can find an MP M4/M4A3 conversion... it's crude but under paint looks just fine.
I used an AEF M4A1 resin hull for my M4A1 small hatch built on an Italeri hull. Verlinden also did one back then? Both were really for the Tamiya bottom as it requires a lot of grinding to get them to fit Italeri's sponsons. How dare they actually put a bottom on the overhang over the track.

I'm in for this campaign and I know I have a bunch of kits that are in the date range. The problem is some of those kits aren't aging well, I have a Tamiya King Tiger and the tracks just disintegrated due to age (nothing in the box but dust. I'll find something though.
**Update: I did find a pile of old kits and I've whittled it down to a Testors/Italeri Opel Blitz S #824, from the grand old days of 1979! Disco inferno!

Hi,
I like to enlist to that campaign. This kit is one that I found deep in the stash (it´s original from 1975, mine is a 1988 reboxing). The only problem are the decals. They have yellowed badly, and I think they´ll disintegrate if soaked in water. According to the rules: Must I paint the markings, or can I use decals from any other source?
And, regarding the painting, can a “modern” style paint job be done, i.e. washes, filters, pigments, etc.? I think you´ve got the idea.

Hi Raul,
I am sure there are plenty of contemporary replacements for those decals out there.
As for filters, washes etc.... use you imagination. Just no ready made or commercially available solutions.

Thank you, Ron.
By the way, I found that in the PE pile. It´s from 1996 and I really like to use the folding screens and the mesh behind the turret. As I´m planning a scratch build interior (just card, wire, two-part epoxy, etc. with no modern aftermarket) I think the PE parts will give the model some finesse.
Please let me know if it´s ok with the rules.
Thanks

So what is the "official" time of kits? No models produced after 1994 or 1995?

If I’m not mistaken the cutoff is 1996.

Correct. I used the 25 years mark, so 1996 it is.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm in with tamiya's SAS Jeep. I also will use jerry cans set from italeri (with Italaerei mark on sprues. Italaerei - is there anyone who can pronounce this?).
I saw this Jeep, completed and painted in the shop window in Copenhagen in mid-80s. I was so bewitched by this model that I decided to switch from 1:72/76 scale to 1:35. Then I went to the model shop where I bought italeri’s Jeep, exactly the same that Ron is going to build, just because it was cheaper than the tamiya’s one. I was astonished by the level of details. There was a super-detailed suspension, complete engine and transparent lenses. I expected that all models in 1:35 are the same quality or even higher. My next model was sd.kfz.223 from tamiya. What a disappointment! No engine, no lenses…

This ancient beast is my entry - well possible entry at this point:
Figures are from 1970:
As is the kit!
I was going to replace the tracks but that upgrade was too recent! So kit tracks it is. Does anyone know the original date of those Italeri jerrycans? There is one on the side of the turret in the kit that looks just awful!

I may also do something with these 2 QUADS, plus some Tamiya figures (Most recently dated at 1985!) plus some bits of Tamiya and Airfix 8th Army figures. Tamiya QUAD is from 1974. The Italeri is a 2014 boxing but the original kit is from 1976 according to Scalemates.

This is going to be a feast!!
All those old goodies....
@Nick; those jerrycans are well within the range, I think.
