That's OK, Ezra! You've still got time! There are lots of awesome artillery kits out there.

I've still got to start on mine too. I've got it narrowed down to the Trumpy 2S1, the Meng Panzerhaubitze 2000, the Revell Panzerhaubitze 2000 or the Revell M109A6 Paladin!

Cool! looks like you have a lot to chose from, unfortunately I have a VVVVVVEEEEERRRRYYY small stash and the Flack 36 was my closest fit to the requirements, so Im going to have to skip this campaign, but I hope to see you on another one!

Size comparison:

The 42 cm Big Bertha is definitely larger than M109A6 that I built last year, but not that much.

Progress picture of my build so far.
Some cleaning required on the swing arms and wheel for sure. Noticed some flash and molding lines al over the place, not too bad but time consuming.

Opened the box, so here we go.

Started this morning with removing mould lines and sanding, after that first parts were glued in place.

Fit is ok after some cleaning. Not so many parts in this kit, which a like. Only the track links make it somewhat extensive in part count.

Needs some work to thin the plastic a little bit, looks a bit chunky IMHO.

Back to the bench, in a different setting as before. I invested in some stowing shelve on the wall, Starts to look like a hobby shop more & more.
More pictures will follow when there is further progress.

Looking good so far. What brand are the resin road wheels?

Hi Peter and thanks. Resin comes from Armor in Scale I believe, have to check my bin for that . But not so sure if I'm gonna use them. Will have to do some testing on how to model rubber coming off. All wheels are completely without rubber, options...

Nice work Colin.
Posted earlier, but also shown below, don't there is a white wash on it.

Road wheels I'm debating to use the resin parts. Don't know yet.

Asked on Missing-Lynx, as I'm no expert on color. There might be a chance I will do the Dunkel Gelb.

More progress pictures later tonight.
The kit is a real pleasure to build, assembly goes like the fire brigade.
Replaced the plastic parts that make up barrel with aluminum aftermarket barrel.
Noticed that there 2 pieces of etch after all. Did not see them before, they are for air intakes on the back, it looks the part.
Just need to check if the fenders are to my 'standards of thin', might need some extra work to enhance the total picture after all..

But referring to Colins answer, suggestion on the color, looking at the picture, any ideas? Think the best match is the parked Sd.Kfz 10 in the back.
Thanks in advance for tips, ideas that help.

Very Nicely done Colin. You have done a great job with the white wash. Not too far from finish now.

Robert to me this is white washed. Look at the drive Sprocket and Idler. The centre of the sprocket is clearly much brighter than the rest of the parts. If the rest of the sprocket was muddy or dusty it would unlikely be so uniform in colour. Similarly the idler is fairly uniform when you compare it to the muddy road wheels.

Then look at the Balkencruz. It has clearly been obscured but the white part of the cross is faintly discernable where it would be more distinct on a Dunkelgelb vehicle. White wash is thin and applied lightly is transparent to a degree.

Even the track links on the side seem to have been given a light coat of white wash.

My verdict Dunkelgelb over painted with whitewash.

Hi Peter. Thanks for the verdict. Makes sense. See what I find out over on Missing-Lynx, There debating is also fixed whether the Geschütz is a survivor of Stalingrad, or not.

Hello. I asked for information, as mentioned, on the Missing-Lynx forums.
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/missinglynx/colour-inquiry-for-15cm-sturm-infanterie-geschuetz-t324325.html
Decided on digging some photo material from Google and finally found what I'm after: https://www.pinterest.com/robertjan2009/sturmgeschütz-pz-iii-33/

Back to the bench and get some road wheel cleaned.

Fixed und Fertig.
Cleaned and glued.

Next will be some research on how to build the fenders.
Check some photos I pinned. Should be fun.

Busy with my gardening(new hobby btw) I need wood for a construction for extension of my experimental herbs farm. Also family business coming up for the weekend, we travel to the south Thailand on Sunday, so maybe it will be next week for a new round up on this build. But it builds like the Fire Brigade anyway, no problem.

OK, I know it doesn't look much different than my last post but I added a bit of grime to hi use areas, soot to the exhausts and some more snow. Calling it done now.

Nice work Colin.
I'm pretty happy with the way the kit builds up. Having no issues so far. Reasonable good detail. As mentioned the tracks will be the delay in speed of building. Not my favorite biz.
Yours looks really good. Well done!

Well, not yet. But close to open the plastic bags.
This is where I am now with the build.
Fenders with some equipment.

Layout of the parts. Already primed some in Mr. Color Red primer. Feneders need some work on underside, lot of filling to do.

Gun in Dark Yellow, Tamiya spray can. Inside of the upper structure painted in Mr. Color Black finishing primer 1500

Axe comes from the spares box. Clamps have better detail than the Cyber Hobby kit provides. Had to cut the steel to make it fit to the right size.

Right Hand Side, I like the looks of the Geschütz.

And finally a shot from the back.

My campaigns are showing up all over the bench, so need to spent some time on other projects. Phantom F-4J and the 88 for the Bronco Campaign are on the list for this week.

Have a nice and productive modeling week
