Hey G it looks like just you & I didn’t get the memo…did the other builders get entrapped in the beta forums this week? Great work on the carrier & tarp (passing a flame fast – real fast – over the tarp would remove any furriness), weathering’s ideal - maybe a couple of random oil/stains & a fender-ding too? Always wondered how this vehicle was introduced for field trials…”Yes Generals we’ve designed a (s)lightly armoured vehicle in which in an ambush situation only the crews heads will get blown off. And we recommend it’s only deployed in flat desert terrain, so that the enemy’s fire passes over horizontally and can’t set off any munitions being transported.” “Jolly good we’ll take two thousand”.
Crazy idea #94: Depending on how long the “water” takes to cure, you could apply a layer, put the dio on top of a washing machine & set it to extended spin-cycle - instant rippled effect
Hi Tim,
Shows how observant I am, I hadn't realised about the beta forum until you mentioned it,
.
The furriness of the tarp should hopefully disappear when I introduce it to some paint,
.
Still got to weather this, so will add some stains and suchlike, but as to the real vehicle, while it might have been a slightly oddball idea it did, so I believe, result in it being the most produced military vehicle in history...so can't have been all bad,
.
Love the crazy idea #94, but first i'll have to get she who must be ignored to stop sitting on it every time it's in use,
.
Cheers,
,

Nothing constructive to add, just still following along and liking everything you done so far. Keep it up.
Hi Ryan,

The layers of detail you are adding to the carrier are lookin good man. I like the way your paper tarp "folds" and it looks the bill in that regard. Maybe find a way to remove the fuzz as Martin says? It does give the impression of being a large blanket right now.
I am still taking notes and continue to be impressed by your "waterworks",
J
Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the positive feedback. As to the fuzz, hopefully that'll flatten out under a coat of paint.
I hate the camera, it picks up stuff that I can't see with the Mk1 eyeball...well mine for sure,

Hi all,
A little bit of progress today, I've given the tar its first coat of paint, and it does seem to have cured the fuzz,
.
I've also added something that'll do for the rifle slings, plus the protective covers over the magazines.
I've decided that I'll work from the stern to the stem adding stowage and suchlike (see images below).
Still some odds and sods to add to the back, but it's progress,
.
Cheers,

Yes,I agree with Timbo, the shots are both great. Improvements all around on the carrier. I see the all important pioneer tools are present. Considering it was SOP for every Commonwealth grunt squad to carry at least 5 or 6 of them this is a mandatory detail.
All that said, I still can't keep my eyes off that spectacular water.

Hi Tim,
There's only one answer to that...Hotpoint,
.
Thanks for the continued positive support, it's much appreciated.

Hi Jerry,
Thank you for the kind words,
.
As for the amount of pioneer tools carried, I found one photograph that had three spades tied together on the rear deck of a Carrier, that was in addition to the stowed one...did consider doing similar but thought it might look odd to others,
.

Hi all,
Very slow progress at the moment,
...in part it's due to other commitments and also awaiting some bits and bobs that I have ordered.
Being relatively fresh back to the hobby after nearly 40yrs, and only having about half a dozen unbuilt kits, and a slightly less number of built kits in my stash, my spares box isn't vary extensive, so makes extensive suitable stowage difficult,
...don't want to repeat the sort of stupid things I did as a teenager,
, e.g. glueing a sand channel to the side of an M113,
.
So a bit more stowage on the rear deck and the start of some to the rear compartment, along with some basic mud application (see images below).
Cheers,
,

The carrier looks fine as is, I think. Just the wet effects and antennae!

Slow and steady is the ticket. Lots of neat stuff so far. I love the bunch of roots going into the water and the tonal variations of the natural greenery, plus the bucket-o-firewood. Nice touch.
Looks like the 3 of us have this forum all to ourselves,

Make that four of us & what they said G, it’s getting even better every time – I can hear that water. Noted the passengers illustrating my earlier comment about crew protection, also your choice of um appliance – so, not a Euromaid?

Hey man! Welcome to the conversation. Are you new to this forum ?
In answer to the carrier question, it was intended really as a battlefield taxi and cargo carrier for getting the heavier gear around with the squaddies. Stuff like mortars and heavy MG's etc. Never intended to be an assault vehicle.

Hi Erwin,
Thank you,
. As for the 'wet effects', they can't be finished until the Carrier is done.
As for aerials, they'll be one of the last items as I am so hamfisted that they'll probably get broken off more often than not. Also, I need to read up on the aerial lengths as I suspect they'll be different to the one for tanks,
...anyone know the answer(s),
.

Hi Jerry,
Thank you for the positive feedback,
, it's always good to get it, whether it's from 1 person, or 3 or 4,
, and hopefully, your oft referenced 'lurkers' also enjoy the work of those that post in here,
. On the brightside, when they're quiet they're not criticising, so I take that as a positive sign,

Hi Tim,
Thanks for the continued support, much appreciated,

As for anything 'Euro', ssshhhhh!..a thorny topic in some parts, unless it's a big win on the lottery,
