hey all,

I saw whats going on with other campaigns and decided that the OBG campaign deserves an official thread for announcments, sharing info and reference, progress pics and links for keeping track with all the various personal build threads of the campaign participants.

please do not post to the old initial thread which started the campaign.

hope this will help,
happy build everybody!

way to go Klaus, your Bundeswehr M88 is very cool.

I'm not a fast builder as you or Gunnie, my circa '73 IDF M48 is going on steady and slow.
I'm going to fit the metal M68 105mm gun to the existing Tamiya mantlet today.

why not commit to another entry, Klaus?

Thanks Elad.....I haven´t decided yet between the following:
- M60 Blazer
- M60 w/austrian marks
- M60A1 w/era, USMC
- M48A5 USNG

And don´t worry about your speed, you´ll finish yours in time

Best Regards

Klaus

So far it has been a great fit Along the edges of the fenders there is a 1mm strip I had to remove to make it into a U.S. version I am using the kit barrel Didn't even need any filler on it

Hi guys
I started on my Patton to night. Here is a pic of what I'm going to build

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This will be a Norwegian M-48 A5, hopefully in winter camo. Progress pics, you ask? Well, two drive sprocketts is not much of a progress. :-)

I'm using the Academy M-48 A5 kit and it looks like a very nice kit.

Cheers

Here's my entry for the Patton Campaign - an M60 early (I like to call then an M-60 A nuthin") - ready to paint.

This consist of parts from an Italeri M60 Blazer, an Academy M48A5 and an AEF M60 early turret.

Might Should end up looking something like this:

I have a set of AFV Club M60 track links on order - plus the hand rail on the right had side isn't positioned right so may need to relocate that first. Hope to start painting next weekend if not sooner.

So do we get extra points for actual shedding of blood during the "Old Blood and Guts" Campaign? Dang near sliced the tip of my thumb off with my Xacto knife while working on this thing...

Thanks to Jim Lewis (Gunnie) for inspiration, ideas and help!

later

Today, was the start of my Patton build, I'll be building a WW2 Pershing, using the Dragon T26E3 kit and Eduard PE, my knowledge on these tanks is minimal, so feel free to point out the obvious and the not-so,...

A few points, the running gear has poor connecting points, you must be very careful to align the suspension, to get all the wheels aligned, and sitting pretty. The plastic is very soft, so make sure you have a sharp set of cutters, otherwise you will break a lot of indi. track links.

Im going with a Pershing too Frank but Tamiya's instead of DML.

Going to add a few scratchbuilt extra's

Do you intend to add the canvas cover between the turret and the gun mantlet , im toying with a few ideas as how to replicate it with either putty , tissue or lead foil

Hi

Progress on my M48A5 (US version) so far...

1. Model assembled
2. Model primed
3. Base coat and camo applied
4. Clear coat applied
5. Decals applied (btw, the Academy decals are not what I'm used to, silvers ALOT! . I'll try and cover it up with a bit of dust.)
6. Clear coat applied over the decals

Now, I'm waiting for the paint to dry and I'll start with my washes tonight.

I'll have some progress pictures soon!

Regards

Chris - mighty fine progress on your M60 MBT conversion. It looks clean and tight.

One question - did you change the Driver's Hatch yet? The AMT/ESCI/ERTL/Italeri (gee that's a lot of typing) M60A1 upper Hull has the correct detail for the 'A1 through 'A3 variants - but the M60 had an IR Periscope mounted there instead of the later Passive Sight. I haven't come across a "Slick '60" with the Passive Sight on the Driver's Hatch.

As with Shermans - one learns never to say "never" but a couple of former M60 tankers have also expressed the same sentiments to me...

On my conversions, I modeled the Driver's Hatch with the IR Periscope - photo below...

Working on an M60A1 blazer from ODS. Pretty fun OOB build for me, though.

Here's a few more shots of the WW2 Pershing. The individual track links weren't too bad, just time consuming, in all seriousness, about 12hrs non stop worth of work! Unless someone spots any real screw-ups, I'll begin to add the fidley parts and the PE from Eduard's set.

Hi Ian, no, there won't be any tarps placed on the turret- gun mantlet gap,.. too much extra work!

I'd appreciate any photo reference of these T26E3 in Germany in 45, just to see how dusty and muddy they got, ( I figure being late winter and early spring in '45, it must of been muddy).

thanks in advance
Frank

Nice progress on your Pershing Frank

I had a day off work today so got stuck into mine (the Tamiya version) , already had all the running gear assembled (still wondering what the h*ll the working suspensions is for )

I spent a few hours adding some extra detail on the interior of the hatches then after that decided to show my Pershing all buttoned up DOH !!!!!!!!

Still pondering the canvas cover over the mantlet and how to do it

Will post some progress pics soon

:-) I just finished a DML Firelfy and it is nice not to have to worry about indi track links , although they do look good on your Pershing :-)
