I'm going to have to see if Hornet do sad faces for all my German POW's :-) !
Gday Karl
Yep, I'm pretty sure I have seen some 'grizzled' faced Germans that would be perfect from Hornet...
Your Shermans are looking a treat!
I am on the periphery of this campaign, and just waiting to make the plunge... hmmm...not just yet... I am building a small Normandy town dio at the moment, and although hinted at being a US scene, it could easily fall the way of the Commonwealth...
cheers

C'mon Brad... join us... come with us... you know you want to!
'Sides, you're town (which looks superb by the way) would suit the Brit/Com sector just as well as the US sector. I've been having a stroll round the 'net since we started this campaign and have discovered plenty of Brit/Com figures that I didn't realise existed, some of which would fit very nicely into your town!
Do you really want to do 'another' US dio? Of course not, then come on and take the plunge with us!
I can see it now... a Bren carrier parked up, mechanics fixing a loose track, Mdm coming out of the remains of her cafe with her secret stash of wine hidden from the germans for four years, officers turning a blind eye.... ah yes....

Matt, I know my dio is non-protagonist specific
therein lies the dilemma...
I've re-read your last post, and can almost hear the Darth Vader-like demand in your voice... da da da dadadaa dadadaaa... All film villains are English, by the way :-)
P.S. Thanks for the comments on the dio progress... As it stands, I may get the dio finished, sans participants who will be decided upon and included later...
Cheers
Brad
Hey, how about I include Rene Artois as the cafe owner and say, the communists who steal his sausage?

Okay mate, point taken. :-) :-)
BTW I'm about to start on my ground work and was wondering if I could PM you to ask you certain questions regarding foliage and such?
I think you'll find that they us English villains for a reason.... we speak clearly and correctly, therefore getting what we want with no misunderstanding.
Cheers

Brad, thanks mate. I'll post some pics over the next couple of day of the 2nd Sherman and the Bren carriers. As Matt said come over to the dark side :-) instead of all these characters who build German stuff like it's going out of fashion! Come and build the good guys! By the way the street scene is looking excellent! I think a tank crew necking some newly liberated Champagne would look very appropriate :-)

Well I've made a good start on the Cromwell this weekend and as it's going to be pretty much OOB it shouldn't take too long at all.
For the dio I'm thinking of having the Cromwell pulled up by the side of the road with a French villager offering a liquid lunch to the victorious Tommies. To balance the scene out so that everything is not centered on the tank I thought I would have a couple of troops on foot trudging down the road as well.
Cheers

Here are some progress pics of my Churchill for the Normandy campaign.
It is by no means complete as yet ,I still need to add some detail to the comanders hatch and of course the side escape hatch ( still working on a figure climbing out ) plus a few touch ups here and there.
Now I can start on the dio groundwork

Looking good chaps.I have to say it's great to see British armour! Some more pics. This is the second Sherman and one of the Bren carriers. The other Bren Carrier needs a couple of tweaks and I'm still digging about for some headphones for the radio but I'm sure I've got some somewhere. I've been building some very sad and grubby Germans the last couple of days. I think the amount of wounded and POW's there are I may have to slow down :-) as I've run out of Mr Muscle so can't do anymore paint stripping.

Thanks Martin! Loved the M3 by the way! Must pick one up! Still debating the road layout for mine as it changes daily :-) . I don't mind doing figures. To be honest I prefer doing figures to vehicles as I can build them quicker. I tend to go into mass production mode and have about 6 on the go at the same time. Only because I struggle to remember how to do pea pattern or oak leaf cam :-)

I do figures in batch-production :-) The Universal Carrier crew, the infantry on patrol, the tank crews etc.
I just don't like doing it because I'm really not good at it. Never satisfied with the results and I feel like they ruin the results I've made on the vehicle itself....(the vehicle looks much nicer than the figures in my opinion)
But I can't put all empty vehicles on the diorama so I just have to make the best of it..

Here's the sniper team. I'm not sure whether I'm happy with them yet so all comments gratefully received. I've given one an SMLE Mk3 as I know some units preferred it for sniping. while the other has the Mk4 out of the Dragon Allied weapons set. I knew it would come in useful one day! They'll be in a field by the road inspecting their handiwork. It was originally going to be a mortar pit but I think now it's going to be a dead German sniper. All comments gratefully received.

Hehehehe...got a bargain on e-bay ( I think?).31 mixed Dragon and Tamiya British figures for £16. Works out at about 60p each after p&p. They're painted but not for long :-) I have a new tin of Mr Muscle so they're getting the treatment when they arrive :-) :-) :-) and then they're going to the abbatoir (as my ex-missus referred to my modelling desk where she thought I randomly amputated limbs etc) to be rebuilt. I've now completed one platoon moving forward so this should be my second platoon! Has anyone used the MasterBox Russian POW set? I was looking at it today and the Jerries would fit in nicely with this project due to them being generic. (I suppose I could use the Russian for something else).

Have managed to get more done over the last couple of days as my decals came through from Archers. There decals are tip top. I bought some of the generic British numbers which are superb. This is one thing that's never ceased to amaze me though. You get faster post from the US than you do inland UK...I digress. I've now completed my full platoon. Three full sections and platoon HQ complete with 2" mortar and ammo carriers. (not fun I've carried a 2" mortar and never got to fire the b*****d). All I need now is to build my radio op which isn't a problem thanks to Al's tip. The Dingo is pretty much ready now just needs cam nets etc attaching. The MP's are done to cause chaos at the crossroads as all monkeys do :-) . Debating whether to get hold of a Firefly as I found a metal barrel in the cupboard which I forgot that I'd got. Now I just need to get more sad, wounded, surrendering, dazed looking Germans and I can start on the groundwork :-) .

I hear ya Martin, I feel the same way. I can paint the uniforms pretty decently,I can do a half decent job on the hair, but when it comes to the faces, they all look like Lemurs with those huge frickin eyes, or like the undertaker in the Monty Python skits. I'm getting better with practice, but I have to go thru a lot of paint thinner!

Actually, in researching for my project in this campaign, I found a site that my be beneficial to some of you guys.
I'm Panzers in Normandy
I dont know where he got his pictures, but he's got a lot of really unique shots that might be of use. MOstly German armor, but there are some British ones as well.
