How's everyone else doing?

Hi all

Not doing to bad with my effort, base all done, vehicles done, just on with British para's and a couple more Germans then I think I'll be ok for the deadline! I'm not going to be too popular over Christmas though, I'm using the time off work to finish off my figures, plus I ordered After the Battle Market Garden vol 1 & 2 as a pressie to myself! Bring on the turkey and close the door on your way out!

I want to try and get some pics up this weekend, so that you guys can tell me where I've gone wrong. LOL

Cheers all

Matt

Hi all

I've added my WIP to the Campaign gallery. I'm still working on the British Para figures which are yet to placed on the dio (its not just German!).

All feedback is appreciated but please remember this is still WIP and not completely finished yet!

Many thanks

Matt

I don't know if I'm stretching the limits for the campain with this but here is my entry:

It's an Centaur in 1/72 scale. The kit is a Cromwell from Revell with a conversion set from MR-models. The ammo sled is scratched.
The wheels on the conversion set were oval so I could only use three of them so I had to drill the holes in the side walls of the tyres on the kit wheels

Gents we've got a week left so lets see some piccies... :-) . If anyone is really struggling to get done by the 31st I'm sure that an extension can be negotiated as we didn't get the full 6 months. The work I've seen so far has been excellent so theres going to medal ribbons flying all over the place

I know some people are struggling to get done by the deadline. As we were cut short by a month I'm extending the deadline by a month so it finishes end of Feb. End of Feb will be the cut off though. I personally would rather see quality work than rush jobs hence the extension and to be fair we did run short due to the old campaign system. If anyone has any real probs let me know....Karl

Karl,

I'm still working on mine. I had 2 or 3 months away from the workbench before Christmas owing to ill-health in the family. Thankfully things are much more settled now, but knowing what I'm planning and the speed I build at I estimate I'm a good 3 months behind schedule. Here are some WIP pics.

If you're able to give a longer extension, I'd be grateful. If not, I understand and will post pics of the finished model when it's done for the interest of other members rather than the ribbon

First medals have been awarded today but the gallery was down so I couldn't check to see who else was done.7 have been awarded so far. Hopefully by the end of Feb there should be more of you...LOL. Just had a look at the ribbon and it looks rather splendid . If you've finished, then upload your pics and let me know. Thanks chaps!

Hi all

This is my completed entry for the Commonwealth in
Normandy campaign. It features members of the 12th Bt
(Yorkshire) The Parachute Regiment 6th British
Airborne Division on or around the 12th of June 1944
as they took (and held) the town of Breville in
Normandy.

All the groundwork is scratch built (the building and
walls are from foamex board, excellent stuff) the base
is MDF, the gates, window frames, floors, beams, roofs
etc are from plastic card, rubble is any old stuff I
could find! Most other stuff (including the pig) were
made from Milliput, the vehicles are very old Tamiya
and Italeri, figures are mainly VP with some Dragon
and Tamiya.

I'm waiting for the elusive (in this country at least)
good weather to take the dio outside and get some
better quality shots but these will have to do for
now.

Hope you like, all and any criticisms are welcome.

Thanks for looking

Matt

Waow !!!
Really nice dio !
The composition is darn good.
I like a lot the brit para on the roof, securing his mate, and the german trying to escape. Whish I could do something like that.
Congrats !

Excellent dio Matt. I especially like the Bren Gunner on the roof, realistic pose, and adds a touch of authenticity to the scene

Geez Matt that is absolutely fantastic .

I've looked over the pictures quite a few times now and each time I do I pick up some new little detail that really adds to the overall scene.
From the Teddy Bear to the spent shells in the Schwimmwagen to the bloody handprint the wounded German soldier is leaving, it's just awesome.

Cheers

Nice dio. the teddy bear, pig, and Bren Gunner adds a realistic touch. Two questions....... is the other wounded soldier, next to the halftrack, a german, and where is the hiden german in comparison to the others?

Thanks all for the kind comments! I really enjoyed working on this one as I've read a number of personal accounts of the British airborne action in Normandy (not just the bridges and Merville) and wanted to show how the campaign went on for some time after, 6th Airborne were kept in the field until early September I believe - maybe I'll do another dio on this subject soon - I've been side tracked by the Arnhem op at present though!

Matthew: All the wounded are German and the chap attempting to escape can be seen in the 5th photo down in the bottom right hand corner (you can just see the top of his head!).

Thanks again

Matt
