Here's a (long-delayed) update of some of Aber's releases. As we've come to expect from the company, a great variation in boths scales and subjects - these recent releases are in 1/35th, 1/25th, 1/48th and 1/72nd scales.
Before I begin listing the new releases, a few words about some of their recent releases. I met with the company in Nuremberg and apart from these releases, the big news comes in the shape of their replacement Gun barrels...
Previously, Aber were producing their barrels using turned aluminium. Now, with the recent releases, they are using a new casting process with the new barrels which is every bit as good as the previous system. Also notable, is that barrels which have muzzle-brakes (such as the 88 L/56) are being produced with the muzzle brake on a thread - simply screw them on. The barrels I was shown are frankly impressive - the brake fits on tightly with a level of engineering which is frankly impressive. Well worth looking out for!
Moving onto the recent releases, i'll begin with 1/35th scale:
35219 - Soviet heavy tank JS-2 – vol. 1 – basic set (Tamiya)
35220 - Soviet heavy tank JS-2 – vol. 2 – fenders (Tamiya)
35L63 - Set of 2 Barrels for German Tank MG 34 machine guns (Any)
1/25th Scale:
25006 - Grilles for Sd. Kfz.181.Tiger I
1/48th Scale:
48021 - PzKpfw.IV, Ausf.J – Vol.5 – side mesh screens (Tamiya)
48037 - Pz. Kpfw.III, Ausf.N (Sd.Kfz.141/2) (Tamiya)
48L01 - US 76.2 mm M7 tank barrel for M-10 (Tamiya)
48L11 - Soviet 76,2 mm F-32 tank barrel for KV-1 (Hobby-Boss)
Finally, in 1/72nd Scale:
72L30 - British 40 mm 2 pdr. Tank barrel for Matilda Mk.II (Italeri)
All of these releases will soon be the subject of Reviews. There are still one or two items available, so, if you think you could apply the necessary expertise to the subject, get in touch with me..
