Hello All,
Nito74,
The pics of the BT-7 are a little dark from here, a very neat subject. The SU-85 looks great. German and Russian equipment were always changing sides. I've several pics of the same vehicle in use by both armies. Wish I could post it for you. Need to get a scanner.
Faust,
Glad to see your talent is recognized elsewhere as it is here on this forum. Nice job and congrats on the honors.
Best Regards,
Campaigns

Thanks for the compliments. I was really delighted with the bronze medal but I liked the feedback from Judges and people who saw the figure display live last Sunday at the KMK scaleworld the most. It strengthened my confidence to go on with the next little vignette I´m working on.
I added the pictures to the Campaign gallery so I closed this whole project off as it needs to go.

Nito, looks good though some brighter photos will really show off your work. Nice job!
Robert, excellent job on the bronze in what must have been very tough competition. Very nice work!

John, nice looking entries. Do you have any plans to include the BT-7 in a diorama? The Su-85 looks stunning especially with that oversize German cross. Very realistic I have seen the pictures of the real thing with the huge cross.
Try taking the pictures in daylight. That helps. I have the same problem as you.
Robert, well deserved medal. The viginette looks really good although the tank armour looks a little "clean" with no rough edges etc.
Here is a small update on my Pz. Jg. I. I have added the decals now. I am going for a LSSAH vehicle in Russia in 1941.
It is in the muddy fall and the crew has found out their armour is not really standing up against Soviet AT guns. Therefore they are adding sandbags, BT track links and Pz. IV track links to the front to add the chances of surviving a frontal hit.
The track links turned out way the silvery so I will have to tone them down considerably or repaint them altogether.
More to follow.....

Wow, all this building is looking great. For my part I've thrown all the zimm and PE at this I dare. I had to hack the zimm as it is for a different kit so there are seams but these should be hidden by the spare track links. More by luck than design. Doing this again I'll make sure the track links hide any seams. Before and after shots

They were taken during daytime...windows wide open...sunday afternoon... damn have to move to another sunny country... again
I'll try to light them up next time...
But well I wasn't planning any diorama.
I got some pictures of german su-85 with a big cross, so I used some 1/32 decals from a Me109 or Fw190 (don't remember which..), and it turned out good.
I hope the next shots will have it finished and also a "lights on" BT-7.
Thanks

JP, the zimmerit job looks very good. Especially considering the scale and that it was meant for another kit. Looking forward to see this one with some colour on it.
John, it might be the angle and/or the lights, but the suspension and tracks of the BT-7 looks a little strange. The wheels seems to be at different levels. That is why I thought you were palnning a diorama.

You are right Jesper, they are at a different level.
the front wheels are a little higher than the others but the weight of the tank makes it balance forwards..it's strange, might have screw the kit along the build too...
I might stick it in a diorama, never did one, so it might be a challenge !!
I'll post some other "lighten up" pics soon.
I hated that kit anyway

Well last update for this figure. I now start to realise I finally managed to finish something in a campaign before the deadline was there. Which really makes me happy. This is the last set of pictures. The figure is finished. It is on a base, it got a name. Up to the next figure.
And it managed to get a prize too at the KMK scaleworld this year it managed to pick away a bronze medal. Which I did not counted on too much after seeing the competition in my category. But still a happy Camper.
Having followed this vignette building in your blog, I have to say Congrats on your Prize! The little vignette came out really nice!!!
Keep the good work!!

@ Robert:
Gefeliciteerd, man!!! Excellent job!
@Jesper: Your "hunterkiller" looks good, but I would repaint the tracks in a black/dark grey rusty finish, maybe with a little drybrushing of metal and dust.
I am really curious on how you are going to finish the mud. Looms quite difficult, right?
@Jaypee: stunning looking Tiger you got there!
And then.....
there was my build....
Things that got done so far:
1) Trying to get the top and bottom of the hull to match.... it wasn't that easy, but with a little help from tape, clamps, spacers and tons of putty I kind of pulled it off!
2) Adding the new driver and some more goodies to the interior. The Bundle on the left is a home made Y-strap with gear.
3) Adding new extra side armourplates. Tho old ones turned out to be to small and one got killed in the proces...
4) Getting the basic vehicle allmost complete with some add-ons from Dragon, sucg as headlights, directionindicators (scrabbleword, 3x wordvalue) and later on tracks. The Zvezda ones are murdereous to your nerves!!!

Some great Work in this campaign I'm truly impressed.
Jesper great work on the Panzerjager 1. It is not an easy kit but you definately get the best out of it. I like the additional stuff like the Sandbags and the BT tracks.
John Nice work on both the BT and the SU the pics of the BT are a bit dark but from what I can see it looks pretty good.
James. I looked through your built log of the Marder and it starts to look very good mate. Looking forward to the progress. You are on the right track there.
Jaypee Great work on the big cat too.. The PE zim looks very good. Can't wait how this will progress.
@ Ron. I already told you on MSN that I'm very impressed with your Scratchbuilt detailing of Maj Eckingers ride. Keep up the great work. You put a lot of detail in it that will make this vehicle a very special one.
@ everybody. Thanks for the compliments and the congratulations on "reflections" and the medal it won. It will go to 2 more events so who knows the row of metal will become longer in a few weeks time. Only time will tell.
For myself the fact that I won a medal was not even the biggest achievement,.. Actually finishing something before the deadline of a campaign was more important to me. Thanks for the great feedback I received during the built.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I appreciate it.
Ron, I am definently going to do something to the tracks. They are way to shiny. Propably a complete track repaint is the only solution.
Ron, your build looks stunning. Good job on making those sides fit together. More difficult than it looks as the inside of the armour is also visible. I know this from experience
Did the command 251s have extra armour or are you building a specific vehicle? Maybe you could share a photo of the original vehicle?
Looking forward to see more

Hi Jesper,
I am building a specific vehicle.
It was used by Maj.dr. Eckinger as on of the commanding officers of the 1.Pz.Div. Heeres gruppe Nord, Letland july 1941.
As far as I can tell only 251's from that division had the maptables and only his vehicle had the extra armour.
here's some extra information I gathered:
http://halbketten.forumotion.com/sdkfz251-mtlschutzenpanzerwagen-f8/sdkfz-251-1-ausf-b-with-maptable-t75.htm
For all the halftrack-builders and -lovers, I gathered a lot of information on these vehicles here:

Hi everybody!
@ William - welcome! Don't keep us waiting too long to see your progress .
@ All:
It's extremely difficult for me to write anything here (model making is also not so easy) these days... Since last friday I've attended 1 military style integration training with people from my office (rope park, paintball, archery, heavy drinking, etc... ), 1 wedding, 1 funeral, and now I'm at home with terrible cold... .
Here's my progress so far:
Still a lot to do but fortunately I have 3 months more to finish this monster

Nightmare! My modelling lamp has given up the ghost and been consigned to the bin as even with my glasses I can't see to do figs so I've had to start on buildings. Now the question is...what colour did the Soviets paint lamposts and also what sort of roads did they have in cities? Cobbles, dirt, slabs, brick?I know it seems a minor point as it will be covered in rubble but I like to get it as near right as poss.
I've done the basics for half a building now (it is going to be quite a big dio) but once I've got some girders in place I'll post some pics. I've been reading up on Russian buildings...LOL. Made sense to build it in modules so I can have a ground floor and a first floor completed with figs then stick it all together. Hmmm...I'll see how it works

Fired some paint at my tiger, first time I've used an airbrush. Takes a bit of getting used to but was really quick and leaves a nice even coat. I used humbrol 93 plus some white for the sand colour. Looks good enough. But the smell! I'll not be spraying enamels in future, I'll save them for the brush. The camo will be Tamiya flat brown stripes. No snaps but I'll post them once the paint has dried.
Whoot the towing cable arrived, looks great.
