The main subassemblies are now finished for my PzJg. I.
The gun and gun cradle are a little fiddly and the instructions not very clear, but it all went together allright in the end.
I added some tread plate in the bottom of the fighting compartment to add a bit of realism and to cover up some nasty sink marks.
The instructions indicate to mount a MP flat on the gun cradle, but that would be very starnge place to have it in reality. Also the kit MP40 is underscale and without any holding brackets so it went in the trash. Instead I added a Trumpeter MP40 with holding bracket and some handgranades from the spares box to the inside of the superstructure wall.
Also I made some home made tow cables for some extra Trumpeter tow cable eyes. I do not know if I will use those yet.
The tools will also be Trumpeter tools with PE brackets from the spares box. More on that later.
More to follow....

Great Job on this Panzerjager I. One of my favourite vehicles. And you are doing a great job so far. Which kit are you using (you might have posted it but I think I missed it) Is it the Italeri offering of the Maquette offering? Couple of pointers. The way you have the MP40 mounted on the inside of the gunshield is not correct. It should be flat against the wall instead of sticking out like that. The crew already does not have much space inside the shield and this makes it even less convenient. I believe so from the top of my head (but I need to check) that on the part that the gun stands on ( first picture between the gun and the upperhull) also need to be an MP40 and a Fireextinguisher. But further you did a pretty good job. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Hello,
Some great looking projects...
@SGTJKJ: the Italeri/Zvezda kit is coming together nicely, like the additional equipment you've added. The AFV Club Lefh18 I built also had an additional "Clean" tools sprue.
@pdelsoglio: That is a nice dio. The snow looks well done. I love the kettenkrad. Very nice work!
@Emiretus: That's Attention to Detail! Very nicely done.
@Faust: Looks like "Panzerjaeger" is nearing completion. It's looking great!
Thanks everyone for posting!
Best Regards,

Thanks for the comments, Robert. It is the Italeri/Zvezda kit.
You are right about the MP40. I will change it so it fits the right way.
Regarding the gun cradle/mount. My instructions also indicate a gas mask canister and a MP40, but it is not going to fit as the instructions indicate. I am just mounting the gas mask canister and has moved the MP40 to the side armour - soon to be mounted flat against the armour
Thanks for the comments. I appreciate it.

Hi everyone,
I've never posted on armorama before as I usually do aircraft but this campaign has caught my interest. I got this kit as a present a few years back and I'm now looking for an excuse to build it. Does it qualify for this campaign?
Revell Panther A
Thanks,
Mike

Hi there!
@Greg: I just used some baking soda glued to the base with a generous layer of bright varnish. Then I added several layers of baking soda and varnish until I was satisfied. When dried, I sprayed a final thick layer of bright varnish to prevent it to yellow.
@Mobious: Thanks for your remarks. I appreciate it.
Cheers.

Hi Mike!
Is the number of Polish emigrants really so big in Ireland that you're even writing in Polish?
BTW: I'm planning to build Panther Ausf A (Dragon) for Big Cats campaign.

I'm in Cork at the moment and there's a huge Polish community here. The staff at my local shop are all Poles, so some polish words are becoming familiar to locals, to go 'skleping', for example

"Skleping" :D:D we call it "Ponglish": it's not Polish, it;s not English... - it's Ponglish
In which part of Poland do you live? Maybe you could drop by sometimes for a lager or two...?

This is becoming something of a mammoth project... . So far I've finished 23 Germans and have had to order more as I've run out. I've done my sketch for the dio which I'll scan at some stage and put up.I'd forgotten how crap I was at drawing but I know what it means. It's going to be the same size as my Normandy dio hence the amount of troops needed. As it's urban I want to represent the chaos of fighting room to room in the buildings. I'm looking at 3 buildings at a crossroads with trenches interlinking them so it's going to take some doing
I've been promising myself for years to build a Stalingrad dio and now the time has come. I may have a dig about in my stash and see what I can Mr Muscle and reuse.
Has anyone else found that Vallejo are strange colours? Don't get me wrong, I like them as paints but their German uniform colours are a bit weird. Bit too green compared to original uniforms so I've had to resort to mixing. .
I think given the size of this I may go for a modular approach ie finish the building, install the troops and onto the next and then place it all together. Bit like lego

Hello,
erichvon, I've been using Vallejo paints for a little while. Never noticed the off colors, but then my reference material is either the net or printed material, all subject to interpretation. Lacking an original sample in front of me, I tend to mix every paint anyway. The biggest gripe I have with the Vallejo is they don't adhere very well. They have a bad habit of rubbing off if I handle the figures too much, before dullcoating. It may be common with all acrylics, I don't know. Anywho, your Stalingrad project sounds very interesting. The most brutal battle of the 20th Century.

You guessed it, there's a new post in my Build thread. Check it out.
This time I've been working on the fenders, hull and tool boxes.
As many people are building soviet vehicles here, I'll post my humble request here as well.
The thing is that the towing hooks in the kit are simply horrid.
The real thing look more like this.
If anyone has some suitable spare parts, I'd be grateful if you could help me out.

Im done with my campaign contribution guys I worked two straight weeks on it and now here she is. Its the old Revell "T-34 Tank" kit dated 1958. This was one horrible kit with so much detail flaws and fit problems, it requires a lot of patience to build it
The box doesnt indicate what scale it is but it seems to be in 1/48 range. I had to add a few scratchbuilt stuff on it to make it a little more decent and presentable, like the two exhaust tubes made from bent sprue and drilled with holes at the tip, that steel plate on the front upper turret is made out of sheet plastic and cut sprues for bolts. I also had to cover some awful wide seams on the turret sides/rear and those fuel drum tanks on the sides with simulated welding seams to hide it.
Biggest mistake I did was to use the supplied decals which are so thick no amount of future clear covering and dullcoat finishing can hide the excess film
Overall Im still happy with the final results, and this campaign was a sure fun one to have participated in

muttley,
You've done a great job on an older kit. Sounds like it was difficult but you managed to pull it off nicely. Sorry to hear about the trouble with the decals.

As I allready said, Blitzkrieg is done, on to the eastern front!
I finally completed the radiosection in this vehicle. I added another set of headphones, a throatmicrophone, the antennae and all the wiring for these.
The throatmic was made by using a piece of a Dragon etching with some small plastic discs glued on. The headphone, unfortunately, is an older Tamiyapiece. The antennae came from an antenneset from Dragon, great detail on those!
I removed the vinyldriver, cut him loose, so to speak. It was horrible and I just couldn't get it right.
Here's what the vehicle looks like, now:

Hello,
Yeahwiggie, that is some amazing scratchin' you got goin on! Really looks cool.
This is something I was going to enter in the "Blitzkieg" campaign, but decided against it, because the rules didn't include "Barbarossa" I may work it into the traffic jam I'm currently working on.
I still need to add the draw bars, the beams, and finish up the tackle, then build another LeFH18. I've been wanting to build a tank for nearly two months, but have managed to get side tracked on projects like these. I think I have a wingie thing to build yet too.

I'm just starting building my 1st tank, having started back modelling with aeros.
I've got the trumpeter 1/72 tiger1 later production.
image from henk of holland
Just wondering if anyone here has this kit and if any of the kit decal relate to the eastern front?
If not I'll get some Hungarian decals off a local supplier. They ought to have served on the eastern front.
I've just been dry fitting so far and found that kit although the PE I got cheap is for the hasegawa or dragon
doesnt fit.
Both sets of PE look quite different from each other. Surprised there is such a discrepancy.
If anyone has already built this kit I'd appreciate any advice on the potential pitfalls before I start.
Thanks
JP

Thanks for the nice comments on my model guys, really appreciate it after all that work done on such a challenging kit.
Personaly I like working on older models, probably for its sentimental value, and also the fact that I have always wanted these kits when I was a kid
I myself is pretty much surprised with the outcome of the camo, this is the first time I have done a Russian tank with that type of pattern, I didnt even bother with using the right color for the green and brown paints and Im just glad it did turn out good
