Fantastic builds going on in this campaign! I only wish my build could have progressed as quickly as some of those showcased here. It's been a bad allergy season and that can really mess up my vision. Plus I had to wait for a new airbrush cup to be delivered (old one got clogged because someone forgot to clean t properly)

Anyway, I have actually made some progress over the last couple of days. While I can't get the camera to show it properly, I've airbrushed various shades of NATO green and started some preliminary weathering (not going to make it super dirty). Do to time constraints I decided against extra external gear.

Weapons station and ruler for scale effect.

First paint coatings.

First attempt at dry fitting the wheels.

Various slow progress shots with press fit wheels.

I'm plodding along and am hoping to finish mine over the Thanksgiving holiday. I decided to go down the slippery slope of using oils (doing the dot filter) and well now I'm pushing the time envelope to get it done. I have managed to get the stowage painted and partially weathered. My goal tonight is to do a little more of the oil and post some more pictures.

Robert, I am not 100% sure since I don't have instructions handy, but are you sure you did not attach both DVEs. It seems like w/ this photo you may have attached the first/old DVE in front of the driver. If so, you should not have the 2nd generation DVE that is centrally located on the front hull next to the driver hatch. If you have both DVEs attached you may want to stay w/ the one in front of the driver hatch since the old strut guards are on your model. The old strut guards were used in the initial batch of Strykers along w/ the first generation DVE. When the Stryker went full production they changed the DVE and went w/ the perforated strut guards.

Looks nice, though. Looking forward to seeing this and the others finished.

Strykers look great guys!

Here's mine. I'm holding off on the weathering. I haven't quite got the skillz to make it look the way I want.

Cheers and happy modeling

Boy, do I feel the pressure now to get my Stryker done. I am hoping that I can make the deadline. I started some weathering this afternoon. Here's the preliminary work.

I ran into a royal and major glitch with the decals. The instructions for their placement are all messed up and obviously incorrect. As an example, Decal 7 is called for on the instructions to be placed in a dozen different locations but there are only two Decal 7's on the decal sheet. Three quarters of the other decals aren't even referenced on the decal placement instructions. I checked Prime Portal's Stryker pictures and can also confirm that there are other glaring mistakes in decal placement. Hopefully I can come up with proper placement after some more research.

My SWMBO holding the further weathered vehicle this evening.

Good Luck to us all,
Jan

Giovanni, nice Stryker. Great use of accessories. I especially like how you worked in the cable and made it loose. What is the white and black rope/wire on each side of the vehicle? Are they for steps?

i think he those are the MILES cables he made. notice the black sheet metal covers in close proximity.

Giovanni, why did you run the tow cable through the headlight brush guards? it would rip it off when in use. nice kit though.

Man!!!! I really didn't think that I'd get my photos up on the campaign gallery in time. My D*&# DSL connection kept on dropping my connection. The pictures had to be uploaded via 56K regular modem! What a PAIN! I fear they lost some resolution in the process. So here's a few alternate shots as my DSL is back up at this time.

A great campaign with a lot of impressive builds. Congrats to all and see you all in another campaign.

Cheers,
Jan

Hello All,
Here is my entry for this campaign, it's Real Models Canadian LAVIII conversion. I had planned to have all the stowage items on board and tied down, but disaster struck and I spent the whole day having to repaint... I really do need to learn how to take proper photos..

As an administrative note for the campaign, could everyone please post one more image of their final entry. I don't want to miss anyone when I award the ribbon.

Looks like I won't get mine done in time, be lucky if I hit an end of December deadline! I'll keep updating the build though, for shucks and giggles. Nice job to everyone who finished!

Very nice looking LAV, Andy. Your pictures don't look bad at all. I took around 70 of my Stryker with various backgrounds, lighting and camera settings (I'm a firm believer in experimentation) . They all have something and it was hard to decide which to post.

As this is only my second Campaign, where would you like this additional picture posted? In this campaign forum or in the campaign gallery?

Jan,
At one point each campaign had a dedicated folder, but I haven't found ours and I spent loads of time looking. I posted mine to my photobucket account and linked it to here. You can use the workbench folder by using the photos link and then attach the photo here.
