Matthew goodluck with school, the VA sent me back on a chapter 31 for reeducation Spring 2008 for accounting. Back to school this fall.

Thanks Robert. I applied for Voc-Rehab myself, but was denied...how is that possible? Seems my job at the time was, according to the approving authority in Denver, paying well enough and I didn't need the training. I guess this person had some sort of insight into my financial situation...crystal ball maybe? What really puzzled me was that there were guys doing the exact same work I was who got into the program. Didn't feel like dicking around with it so I decided to use my GI bill instead. Either way, my schooling is paid for.
Good luck with the accounting. numbers and I don't get along. I can count to 21, but its ugly. "Q"

I have a mismatch from the original bottle of Tamiya Olive Drab I used to airbrush the kit and the current bottle. The new OD looks quite green compared to the rest of the kit. The Khaki Drab is closer in color to what I airbrushed so I'll be using that for touching the paint up. I hope I won't have to re-paint the whole thing. All the fiddly bits have been added to the rear upper hull. When trying to attach the antenna base to the turret, I was surprised that the hole for the mount wasn't there! I drilled a hole then noticed the mold seam on the base. I cleaned that up but noticed the halves of the base are not aligned. Grrr. I'm going to leave it as is. The proper thing to do would be to chuck it and scratch build my own. The commander's .30cal looks ok after the putty work so I'll save the Academy MG for another time. The only things to glue now are the sand shields and the upper and lower hulls Those will be done after I add the tracks. Right now I'm still on for using the AFV Club T16 set but part of me wants to just use the Tamiya tracks to get this thing done (maybe use the AFV Club on the unbuilt Tamiya M3 Stuart in my stash).

Christer, Dio looks really good.

Matthew, Good luck in school. You will get back in the swing of things in no time. Just be cautious of the co-eds.

Lets see if this works.
Here are some in progress shots of my Tamy StuG IV. I know the reputation of the kit, but it has been a proving ground of techniques for me. So far I have added and aber barrel, I wrecked the old one trying to perfect it, and I'm glad its dead, this is so much more impressive. I have also added the Tamy PZ IV on board equipment set, to replace the aged kit pieces, and the academy PZIV indy link tracks to get rid of the rubber bands. I have done my first zimmerit job on this and its not bad. I am working on scratch building a basic interior, so much is visible from the hatches. The emphasis is more on suggesting detail instead of spot on replication. I have build a radio set out of balsa wood blocks, sheet styrene and some solder. I also decided to build a new MG shield, and it turned out pretty respectable. Next will be a bit of the gun breech and a shell rack for the floor.

I noticed there is no campaign ribbon design yet so I thought I'd try my hand at one. I decided to base it on the first "Get It Done" campaign ribbon but it looks like there is no such beast! Did anyone get a ribbon for that campaign?

Hi
I like the idea for the logo/ribbon.
I've just about finished the KingTiger just needs dusting.
M16 AA has been painted I'm now making a diorama for that.
I've just done the Zimmerit on the Jagdpanther & primed it.
So I'm still very busy.

Tony - Thanks for finding that.

I had tried looking up the profiles of people who had photos of completed models in the "Get The Job Done" campaign gallery and wasn't having much luck finding anyone who had one. However it also looks like some people have two of the ribbon in their profile. Weird.

Anyway, I would think the original ribbon with a "II" on it would be good. I thought maybe two bulldozers but that's not a good idea if this is an annual campaign!

Gary,

How about instead adding a "II" to it. You add a bar for each subsequent year. So this year would have one and next year would have two and so on. Eventually we may need to add leaves but that is far in the future. I put a quick example below.

Update: Looks like there is already a ribbon design.

Gary,

I was not trying to steal your project. Hope I did not affend you. I too missed that the campaign already had a ribbon.

No problem. I'm not an artist anyway.
I thought I checked the campaign page and didn't see a ribbon design there. That's why I didn't think there was a design.

Dear friends,

This is my submission- AFV club 1/35 Sturm Tiger (late).

This kit was bought some years ago and it got stalled for a good 3.5 years in the work cabinet.

I must say, to me this is not an easy kit to build and it is esp tough to complete it when my new baby girl is just born.

Now panzer factory is quite very stagnant with another halfbuild Jagdtiger and sherman. Time for factory shutdown

Cheers

Kiong,

Congrats on the birth of your daughter. Children are wonderful things but they take a lot of time. I like to kit you built. Like the camo on the wheels.

Greetings one and all;
Some years ago I purchased the VM Valentine tank and Bishop SPG, when the first came out in the back in the mid 90s , with the idea of making them as a couple of NZ vehicles. The Valentine I was going to make a standard MkII and the Bishop was going to be turned into a MkIII using the turret from the AA kit, which I had problems with. I finished them last Saturday

Valentine MkII as used by the NZ Armoured Corps in the late 1940s;

Valentine MkIII, Troop Corporal's vehicle,1 troop, 3rd NZ Div Tank Sqn.

cheers
David

Cheers, greetings and salutations one and all. Thanks for continuing to keep the thread alive in the absence of my own posts. Since returning to school full time, I have been remiss in posting anything, or getting much accomplished for that matter. Although I did manage to get a couple of over due reviews submitted, so I guess that counts for something. A campaign ribbon has been designed for the campaign already, but I do appreciate the thought. As we move close to the end of the year and the campaign, keep building and posting. Currently it looks like I will be awarding a substantial amount of ribbons at years end. That speaks volumes about your partcipation folks. Much appreciated. Soooo, get back to building and posting. Thanks again, "Q"

Well another one done - thought I would go airborne this time and finish the AM TBF 1C which has been sitting on the shelf for a over 3 years now longlingly looking at me and asking to be finished.

The photos are all natural light taken half an hour ago - and sorry no other shots as the batteries in the camera decided to cark it. I recall that I did the panel lines with a HB pencil and I have tried (not very successfully) to use a silver pencil to do a bit of weathering. I had quite a few issues with the AM decals - at least 5 tore to some degree which caused the air to turn shades of blue.

So now it is a toss between a 1/16 Tamiya figure I have to finish the painting on, a 1/32 Trumpeter P40B I am doing as a 3 Squadron RAAF bird, or the Tamiya 1/350 Prince of Wales. Decisions..........decisions.

I finally finished up an old Tamiya KV-1 that I had have sitting around for awhile. I tried out some of the Tamiya weathering products on this one and I like how they were easy to use.

A bit of an update:

Camo and decals done, the next step is weathering - a wash and mig pigments I think...

I also still need to add quite a few of the details including:

Commanders 50 cal.
Loaders MAG58
Commanders Peri
Gunner sight doors
Spare tracks
Stowage
Dozer blade etc
Commander (Mouse House ASLAV Commander ?)
Camo net on the Barrel ?

Some progress pics.

Cheers

Paul
