Here is the final result. This FW 190D-9 fought me every step of the way, but especially with the painting.

This is the plane Walter Hohenberg was shot down in during Operation Bodenplate in New Year 1945. There is a lot of controversy about the colours and the markings.
Some say RLM 81 for one camouflage colour, other says RLM 82. Some say it had a white spiral on the spinner, others state a pure black spinner. The story goes on like that. Anyway, I went with RLM 81, no spinner spiral, and no brush painted camouflage.

The markings in the decal set I used are probably a little oversized - especially for the swastika and the chevron double bar.

Finally it is finished and I am happy with the end result, although this is by no means an accurate build it looks good to me.

Comments welcome

Looks good Jesper. What kit was it you used for your build? "Q"

Thanks for the comment, Matt. I appreciate it.

This kit is the very old Fujimi 1/48 FW 190. I think 30+ years. One of the old kits that were made to include a small electric motor to turn the propeller. The overall fit is average except for the cockpit that does not really fit well.

I build it OOB except for a pair of Eduard FW 190 wheels and a Tamiya propeller from the spares box.

Thanks for the comments Matt and Jesper. I hope I will finish it this time

Wow Jesper: You did a great job with that older kit. I remember building it many years ago. I think you got the look just right

Thanks for the comment, Taylor. Appreciate it. I am also pretty satisfied with the result despite some airbrush problems along the way.

Howdy gang. Just checking to see how everybody is doing with your builds. I have a feeling that posts are going to be sporadic in the coming months as warm weather begins to move in and the urge to spend time outdoors takes over, but that is ok I still have more than a few projects in que to keep me busy. But, it's hard to pick one to start working on again Hope this finds all of you doing well and getting more accomplished on your half finished kits. Thanks, "Q"

I got another one completed from my "Needs to be finished" pile. I have had this thing sitting on my shelves for several years with a thorough coat of flat black paint on it that a good friend had sprayed which made for a hell of a hard time getting anything to stick. Pretty much had to tear it all apart, strip the paint from mating surfaces and re-assemble. I started with an incomplete kit too which also added to the "fun". I decided to give this one to a friend/co-worker who was part of the capture of Sadaam Hussein. Represents his truck at that time frame. (Well sorta, read on) No bumper numbers were added as they weren't visible in the pics he gave me. I know what they should read, but they were obscured in the pics and I stayed as close to the pics as I could. I used a Verlinden conversion set for the 4 door soft top and it was a fight from the word go. It was designed for the Italeri kit and this is the Academy kit so it didn't line up very well in places, but with some liberal four letter words, and some snips I made it fit as best I could. All the extra gear came from the spares box, as did all the AK style weapons. In the pics, the truck is full of them as they were part of the spearhead into Iraq they were gathering lots of weapons as they went. I displayed the SVD on the hood as that was Daves favorite acquisition. The vehicle sort of depicts itself from two differing time periods; the initial push into Iraq and the capture of SH. I'm sure Dave will get a kick out of it just the same. If I had to re-do it again, I would attack the ends of the cargo net differently as they should have hooks on the ends for securing their loads, but I couldn't figure out how to make them in scale and still look right. As they are now, the ends are secured under the top with a small drop of CA and they are pretty hard to see unless you flip it over and look for them. I'm going to order a plate for it this week end and attach it to the base as well.
Thought I would share it with you all before it makes it way to its new home. Anyway, without further ado, here she is. Thanks, "Q"

Nice job Mat. I like the sand-painted bottoms of the duffel bags. Have one of those up in the attic from a lot of years ago.

David, Thanks for the kudos. I have a "few" of those lying around here myself. Wish I could have found lettering small enough to put his info on them too, but oh well. Thanks again. "Q"

Wow, can't say my progress has been as good as many of you here. I just received a set of replacement tracks for my Cromwell (the original vinyl ones were so mangled they were pretty much beyond repair. Hope to have some pictures up soon. Great thread so far, lots of interesting builds!!

Mark, Glad to hear you got your replacement tracks in hand and will be getting back to business as it were. I've been trying to put the wraps on some more builds myself in time to enter an upcoming contest. Tick-tock, tick-toc. Post some pics when you get spare moment of two. Thanks for the update.

That is a sweet build Matt.

Nice job and looks like a killer.

I used to have one of those rifles a real killer at range.

Sold it years ago.

Well here is my thing I need to get done.

A wingy thing.
