Got some work done on teh Gefechtsaufklärer Panther/Tiger. (1/72 scale)
It seems it might get finished before the deadline after all.
Gloss coat and decals on and first wash washed. Still glossy at this point from the Future.
Just realized that the cuff band of the commander is on the wrong sleeve for GD; will be working on that.
Also, a camouflaged gun barrel would be unlikely (there only were Dunkelgelb and Panzergrau primed barrels during the war), but then again, if that's the only unlikely bit
Cheers
Rob

Hi everyone,
I've been away for a loooong time and I found out just now that I still have time to start and finish something for this campaign to which I subscribed when I didn't even have a modelling bench to work on.
Before I hit you with some questions, YOU ARE ALL MAD AS HELL and expert modellers, too. I mean, a halftrack Beetle? A Tesla tank? Great stuff!
So, question time. Do I need to submit an idea first? I'm still undecided a little. I just started building again after a long absence from the hobby and I live out in the boondocks as far as modelling is concerned. No shops within a 100 miles at least - I'll have to make do with what's in the stash which is a mixed bag, to say the least.
Please let me know. And keep up the good work!

Alright, I just started. I thought the best fun is a big gun (someone ought to write a song with that title!) but I have a serious lack of stand-alone firepower in the stash. So there won't be a gun truck - it won't be much of a conversion anyway. I wanted an unexpected mixture of two worlds - NATO and the Warsaw Pact.
I pulled out my old Revell/Italeri M113, you know the one sold as an early Vietnam US Gavin which is really a fairly modern German battle box. It's almost useless. Then I pulled out the old Revell/Zvezda BMP-2, which is also rather useless.
inspired on Lebanese Army M113s with ZU-23 Soviet AA guns mounted on top, I'll mate the turret of the BMP-2 with the M113. Minor surgery, I hope...

I just found this campaign, and hopefully my entry is accepted even though I finished it a couple of weeks ago (No hard feelings if it does not ).
Anyway, the story behind this build is as follows: The countries of Danubia and Nordia has since very long ago been sworn enemies. For hundreds of years they have been to war over religion and natural resources. In the mid 2009 war broke out in the semi-independent province of Batari, which Nordia sees as their own territory. BAcked by Nordian logistic and military advicers the Batari Liberation Army and Internal security forces started attrocities against the Danubian minority in a very cruel way, leading up to an UN resolution of a NATO intervention in Batari. A Multi national task force is formed consisting of 3. Commando Brigade, Norwegian Brigade North and a German and American Armour Brigade. My model shows a Batari T-80 UD from 21 Brigade the evening before the invasion starts.
This is acctually not a scenario I have dreamed up, but a situation used in our command and staff trainer. Basically the map is from the area around Schweinfurt and the river Maine has been transformed to a shoreline so amphibious operations can be conducted in a joint scenario together with land- and air forces.
The model is a Zvezda T-80 built OOB and painted in a fictious camo scheme. Some decals and signs are homemade.
As earlier mentioned this is the day before invasion and Batari forces are pretty sure of them selves, so they started drinking instead of preparing the defences... Figures are some spares from my scrap box and their weapons are from Dragons AK set. Sandbags are some old Italeri. I built this as a "good luck charm" since I allways play the enemy during the brigade CAX. It did not work... I lost bad to a much better trained and equipped NATO force.

Lovely detail - that tacky propaganda poster. I like it!
I changed plans again, being that the BTR-2 kit is too inaccurate for a what-if (!!!) and correcting is beyond my scope. I'll paint / detail a German Wolf jeep (Mercedes G) into something ficticious. You'll see.

Nice diorama, Erik. I like the story.
Something funny about those smoke dischargers on the turret. They point too much upwards into the air.
Thanks for sharing

For a long time New Zealand and Australia armies used the same or very similar equipment. We both used Centurion tanks in the 50s and 60s, we both used M113A1s fitted with T50 turrets form the early 70s on. But then something went wrong, Australia purchased the Leopard 1AS and good old New Zealand decided to purchase a vehicle that could fill the of a modern MBT without the cost, - the FV101 Scorpion CVR(T). OK a slightly tounge in cheek and cynical look at the purchasing polcy of the NZ Army.
But What If New Zealand had purchased the LAV-25 when our cousins over the ditch got the ASLAV. Remembering that although NZ likes to follow the Australian lead, we still like to be a bit different. So with all that said, here is my interpertation of the NZLAV-25 circa 2000, belonging to Queen Alexandra's Mounted Rifles, painted in the NZ MERDC Desert Yellow scheme and fitted with a 30mm RADEN cannon.
Note the propeller guards are yet to be fitted, as a trial is still being carried out to find the most suitable design to fit the budget
cheers
David

Lovely LAV! All we need now is someone barging in, telling you how certain details are incorrect for the period/nation/vehicle

guys
this is a heavy american 6 inch assault tank and tank destroyer
roughly based on a t14 only a lot bigger
the hulls all plasticard the turret was made the same way as my big m4a3
with a coffee jar lid
only i needed a lot more p45
the barrel is a 128 jagdtiger which im using as a fictional 6 inch at and bunker buster.
the american t28 uses 2 sets of hvss tracks each side so i desided to use 2 sets of m4 just to see what they would look like
they are wider than king tiger tracks
i used sloping armour all round as its a logical way to add protection
hope you lie it

Those are very very impressive, Andrew. I can't wait to see them with some paint!
What? You're stark raving bonkers!
Well OK...maybe, just maybe, for this What-if I actually researched and maybe I am actually trying to recreate a certain vehicle part that I could easily decide to do without, being that we're what-iffing anyway.
Maybe we're all stark raving bonkers?

Fantastic builds guys! Mine won’t be even half that good but I want to build it just for fun .
I’ve just started scratching a special weapon I will use on my entry: can you guess what Schwere Pneumatische Pflockkanone „ESPE“ is and what will it be used for?
Andrzej
