Randall: Thanks, I was quite sure that they were just olive drab, but I had seen a picture of American Shermans painted white. Your link proved that they weren't changed for winter combat.

Thanks again!

Karl: Wow, you sure got a lot of aftermarket parts! I can't wait to see your Sea Fury completed!

How are everybody's builds going? Remember, if you're posting your build elsewhere's, please provide a link so we can see how you're doing.

I only have a few days worth left on my CF-18, then I'll start on my project!

Zaltar you might want to check out this sight http://milifax2003.tripod.com/home03.html but to the best of my knowledge nobody on the Allied side painted any of the armoured vehicles white.

The Brits for sure used whitewashes on their Churchills during the winter of '44 and into '45.

Field applied camouflage such as winter camouflage will not show up on any official paint schemes....because it was field applied by the crews with whatever they could find.....white paint, white wash, white bed sheets, etc...

So it would still be historically accurate to apply a quick whitewash over the Olive Drab base coat? The colors would look better if the green were toned down with white, that way it wouldn't clash quite as much with the snow.

Thanks for letting me know!

Darryl: You could always use a photo sharing site such as Photobucket to post your pictures. I personally find it very easy to use, and you can upload almost unlimited pictures for free.

I can't wait to see your progress!

Hi Folks, Getting my stuff together for this campaign..

Going to go with a WW2 CMP workshop/ machinary truck. It will be part of a larger diorama using a staghound that's almost done, but will only attempt to complete this truck for the campaign ( I'm kinda slow!!)

The goal will be to wind up with something like this...

Starting with this...

It actually is'nt too bad of a kit for being as old as it is. Will need to convert it to the longer wheeled base 30cwt . From my references it looks like the larger truck shared the same cab so I think that part of the kit is useable. I also have the Resincast set of machinary for their Bedford Workshop lorry and it looks like some of that will work. Please feel free to give me any good links for ref.you might have, The Mapleleagup forum has lots of good restored stuff and I have the Service Pub's "Factory Photos" which are going to be great for the build but do not have much for "in threater "showing markings and such. It would be nice if they were II Canadian Corps but I'll take anything close!!

Don, nice start on that armored car!

Karl, looking forward to your progress on the plane

Looks like at least two Staghounds might be built!

How is everybody else doing?

Randy: I'm glad to see that you're getting ready for the campaign! Your Staghound looks fantastic, so I can't wait to see how the truck will turn out!

Zaltar - My Sea Fury will be the first time I've used a Big Ed, it's true there are lots of goodies in the package. More PE than I've used on any previous model, it requires some complex bending as well so I've ordered a bending tool (new toy to play with). This campaign was the excuse to finally get me to try to build this thing using the accessories I picked up for it.

Randy - I'm looking forward to getting some progress on it as well, one of the PE packs is just for the cockpit so I'm waiting for my bending tool to arrive.

Karl: I'm glad that this campaign has provided you the opportunity to break open the kit. Being a new modeller myself, I can't wait to see how the etch turns out because I've never tried it before. My Firefly includes a small etched fret, so it will definitely be a learning curve!

Luc: It's definitely not too late to join! I can't wait to see your Grizzly APC finished!

@ Randy: It is a resin conversion set based on the Revell Germany, LAV-25 kit. I'm also using some Maple Leaf Model Michelin XML wheels and some accessories.....and many scratch built parts

@ Zaltar : The conversion kit is from Best Valur Model. They also offer the base kit to you, in this case the RG LAV-25. Unfortunately, their conversion set has many mistakes that need to be fix...some good ref pictures are needed here..

More to come !

That's unfortunate that it has so many mistakes. What time period/conflict are you placing it in?

Can't wait to see more!

Good day Troops,

For this campaign I will put together a Canadian Coyote circa 2008 from Afghanistan.

Just recieved the ASLAV-25 base kit from Trumpeter in the mail on Friday, and will put it together with Real Models Coyote conversion and stowage set.

I might also start a build log in the AFV forum as well

cheers

Hello Rick,

The fit of the two kits is just amazing. I have the same kit and conversion. I had the hull together in about 2 hours. No gaps to speak of! But I have to admit the PE does take a long time to get on the hull! LOL. I'm moving back to Canada and when I get settled again I'm hoping to have this one finished for this campaign as well as my 1/16 th Leopard that I'm converting to a Canadian machine.

Cheers Chris

Rick: Good luck on your Coyote build! With your other builds in mind, this one is certainly going to be spectacular!

Chris: A 1/16th scale Leopard is certainly not going to be a common build in the campaign Good luck!

Hi Guys !

I'm about to start the C2 Mexas with the Maple leaf conversion as well as the real model bits for this campaign

I also have the Real Model Canadian Tank crew that I will be putting in the beast.

I've searched the web trying to find some quality pics of the uniform of a Canadian C2 Mexas tank crew as deployed to Afghanistan, but I've had no luck.

Can anyone help me please ?

Cheers

Luc: Sounds great, I can't wait to see it in the dio.

Paul: Have you tried looking on the official Canadian Forces photography site? The link is http://www.combatcamera.forces.gc.ca/site/home-eng.asp

I know that they have pictures of Leopards in Afghanistan, and I'm pretty sure that there are also pictures of their crew.

I hope this helps!

Paul,

I had sent you the Combat Camera link a few days ago via email.....just use a variety of search words.....tank, Leopard, Strathcona, LdSH.

There are for sure images of Canadian tank crews there. There is nothing significantly different in their uniforms.....same CADPAT, helmets, and vests.

Thanks Jason !

I haven't got the e-mail

Can you resend please ?

I'd like a pretty good closeup of the CADPAT etc.

Cheers

Paul
