I've been working in small increments,no time to devote to the whitewash by hairspray yet, because it must be done in a decent size piece of time.So I have assembling and painting my workable tracks from Tristar, and working on all the pioneer tools.Should be able to whitewash this week though,as work it is slowing at work.

Eddy: These are older builds ... they are finished .... I am only re-hashing the blog so its online again, mistakes and all. I posted it here instaed of opening a new thread, as Im sure all those interested in pazr IVs are following this thread anyway.
Sal: As its already built, why not go all out and try something you wouldnt risk with a new modern expensive kit. This would be a perfect base kit for experimenting with.
David. Good start. I dont think you killed the campaign ... you get used to quiet times throughout a build. Happens in every thread. Wait until you get into all the final details ... youŽll get comments.

Beautiful work, Frank. That's a real nice facelift on the ol' Tamiya kit.

I just finished building the same kit. It was one of my favorites when I built it back in the 80s. I built it straight from the box, as I did back then. It's been fun so far, very nostalgic!

Now she's ready for paint:

Fun campaign so far!

Frank,
Great job on those 2 kits I really like all the cargo you added to the Tamiya kit. And thanks for the suggestion maybe I'll try this hair spray method on it that I keep hearing everybody talking about.

hi guys, couple more pictures, only able to get a little bit done at a time due to new baby, hard to model when little one needs attention, but hey i can model anytime right.

please be kind, this is my first campaign, and for some reason glue keeps appearing where i don't want it, any blemishes i should be able to hide with paint

thanks mark

I know what you mean about the glue. It's my first campaign too so we can both learn a ton from the other Masters!

Nice looking build so far!

I actually started mine five weeks ago but have only just got around to adding a BLOG for it today.

It's an old Academy Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.H backdated to a late model Ausf.G with field applied zimmerit added.

The final setting will be on the road home after the rout at Korsun, loaded up with all they can carry and waiting their turn at a bridge crossing.

That's a really cool conversion, Dean! Should look great when it's finished.

I got most of the hull on mine finished up today. A bit tricky the way it all goes together but it's buttoned up now. Lots of wee bits to stick on it now.

I have made good progress and have got the base camo on it looks a bit light but should darken up with the weathering

as you may notice from above picture when I had started the build I noticed the upper hull was warped am hoping I can rectify this once I attach the upper hull to lower.

Hi Folks,

I have been progressing with my Mirage IVD, mostly OOB with a few bits extra. Here are some progress shots:

There are still some details to be added and a bit of tidying up, but it is nearly ready to paint. I will begin on the Stug IV now I've broken the back of this one.

All the best,

Paul

I have been noticing that many of you (in this and other sites) put the road wheels before painting the rubber part, even before painting the base color; is this for picture purposes or is it part of you building sequence? I mean, painting those wheels is hard enough , let alone doing it in place.

Regards

Hi Byron,

I find that it is better to fit the road wheels so the tracks are easier to place and adjust. Painting the rubber is not too difficult, it just requires a bit of patience and care (I must admit it is the least pleasurable part of the build), although some modellers don't bother and just weather the wheels after painting them with an earth basecoat. It's what suits you best really and what works for one doesn't for another. I hope that helps.

All the best,

Paul

I put the wheels on simply for shaping the tracks. The sprockets are held on with polycaps and the rest just pushed into place. They'll then be pulled off once the painting begins and be done seperately then reattached permanently for the weathering. I left them on as long as possible this time as I needed the vehicle at the final hieght to allow proper fitting of a couple of the figures who are on the ground but leaning on the tank.

As the wheels can be mind numbing and thus can cause you to lose concentration and start to rush I paint them two or three at a time in between doing other, more interesting, parts.

Hi Guys,
I finished my overhaul of the old Tamiya Stug IV kit. I stole some infantry guys from another old Tamiya Sd.Kfz251 built and changed them around for the Change Those Troops Campaign here is the results
Photobucket
I also cut the side plates into pieces as Frank suggested. I think it looks beter this way
Photobucket
Still have that old Tamiya Panzer IV D sitting on the workbench with no paint on it but I don't think I will get to that 1 before the campaign ends

A photo of the tank that I will be modeling.

Here is the kit and a few aftermarket items that I am currently putting together for this campaign.

I actually started this build around the middle of last month. But between work, honey do's and preparing to post my build it has taken me up to now to surface with my progress. I started a step by step build log here. Your welcome to drop by and have a look.

I usually drop in to check out what's happening here as this keeps me motivated. A lot of builds are now on the go and a few have already been finished. A lot of eye catching stuff . . . well back to the workbench for me.

Hmmmm... It would appear that I have overlooked this campaign.. Might be an idea to get started then!

I have a huge range of Panzer IVs in my stash, every thing from Ausf B to Ausf J (I think!), but I want to build something no one else has yet.. What do you all think of me building one of the Tasca kits? I don't think anyone else has as yet..

Would be a good choice, Warren. What version will it be?
