Thanks for the comments on my Pz. IV. I appreciate it.

Tat, you are right about the camo overspray on the hatches. I do not know how I missed that.

Excellent weathering, Rodolfo. Very very nice!

Nice job on the tiny tiger, Dani. Good finish. For the binoculars I would just paint the lenses gloss black and not silver for more realism.

Aloha All,

very nice and inspiring work.

Dani - very nice tiger, and small too.
Rodolfo - the winter camo effect is very nice. It has inspired me to try something similar.

Jesper - nice Panzer. What did you use for the mud/grass?

Some progress on my Marder III...

Thanks for looking.

[quote]Nice little Wespe, Jim. This must be the reboxing of the little Matchbox kit. Did it come with a desert base?

Thanks for kind comments, Jesper. Yes, this is the Revell reboxing of the old matchbox kit; and yes, even though the real vehicle never appeared in North Africa (the Afrika Corp pulled out just before these began production) it comes with a desert base with palm tree and two DAK figures.

Here's where I'm at with my entry, tenetively titled "Big Brother", a depiction of Tigers of the 503rd in Normandy. Part of the reason for doing this subject was the opportunity to do two different types of camoflage paint schemes on vehicles from the same unit. Preliminary painting is done and the diorama base is coming along, so now the fun begins....adding figures, etc., to reinforce the narrative, and adding detail work and painting to really make the vehicles work with the landscape....

Peter,
Your dio is looking good. I need to learn how to work my airbrush better so that I can make camo patterns like that

Peter-
your diorama is looking very good. sounds like you really did some research to accurrately depict two tanks that operated alongside one another. keep up the good work.

Some WIP photos on my Jagdpanzer 38T. Finally got to finish base camo paint. Had one casualty though -- one of the grab handles came off, so I'll have to fix that one. Tried to be true to the camo pattern called out in the paint guide, but I guess I just got carried away and overdid at some points. Comments most welcome.

Nice builds out there. The Tiger's nice -- have to try and do 1/72 sometime. Peter, I like the composition of your dio, especially the pose of the guy on the ground.

Well, am off to the next step -- put the spots / flecks on.

Cheers -- Tat

Hi guys,
Lots of nice looking builds coming along here
@Tat,Nice looking camo job there. I see you got rid of the seam on the back top. How are you gonna apply the spots/fleck:-?
Looking forward to seeing some of these builds finished.

Thanks Sal. I guess the the quick and easy way is to brush it by hand -- though am doubtful if I can pull it off nicely. I've made the base camo patterns using tape to mask, so I guess I'll have to continue with that. Googled a bit and got some ideas on how others have done it. Have to experiment on this one, hopefully I can do justice on this. Will post some pics soon. Cheers -- Tat

Easy way to apply splotches and blotches. Lay a piece of the foam type of drawer and cabinet liner over the model and spray or airbrush a random section. Move the piece of liner and spray again. Do this till you are satisfied with the effect. Remember, you need to use the stuff that is like a foam net. I did this on some aircraft and on some 1/72 armor. The effect is beautiful.

Great looking diorama, Peter. Looks outstanding with two so iconic pazers next to each other.

Fantastic job on the camouflage so far, Tat. It looks great. Looking forward to see more.

Thanks guys.

Matt: got to check some other liners, as the ones I saw have uniform holes in it and the material seems porous that paint may bleed thru. Still looking at options.

Jesper: somehow I get the feeling this scheme gets tougher as I move on. Or maybe am just being to anal about it. . Saw your Ostwind -- man you sure build fast, and the hand-painted camo sure looks awesome!

Cheers,

Tat

More work done on the Jagdpanther and the crew

Ultimately this will become a dio with a Maultier supply vehicle and the tank doing a re-armament/refueling

You might try punching some holes in a piece of card stock. Just make them random. This scould create unique looking blotches.

Hi guys,

A bit late joining this one but I think I can finish it in time. I started DML's King tiger with zimmerit a couple of days ago. The wheels and tracks are dry fitted at the mo.

Thanks Matt. Got myself knee-deep into cutting small patterns on tape so I just slowly and patiently moved on. It sure kept me busy since the last post.
I guess there are easier and faster ways to have it done. Have read some techniques, and will try those on other builds, maybe a Panther.

Well the bandages, er tapes came off today -- been a while from the last time I saw this one without masks on. Still a bit more painting, corrections, and weathering to follow, but I'd say the major paint work is over.

Comments most welcome. Cheers -- Tat

Thanks Jesper -- took some break after all those cutting and masking. Seems a bit overdone in some places, anyways it was a very good experience. Looking forward to finishing it in time, and get to work on other projects. Man, you guys build and finish fast!. Cheers -- Tat

Tat,
I really like the way your camo pattern turned out, great job
I would never have the patience to make all those small cuts in masking tape again wounder full job looking forward to seeing it completed.
My build time has been greatly diminished now that they put me back to work
