MRB Thanks for the support. Unfortunately the pic is very small, any chance of another one?

Hmm... very interesting, on my screen it's in good size. Would it help if I post the direct link to the foto?

Nope, sorry, the link brings you to the same small pic...

Hi all!

I love this GB!

Since my last entry here -more or less two months ago- posts and subjects have been growing in both quality and quantity! Great work everybody!

It could be time consuming now to add a comment to every model -forgive me, please!- but I have seen many interesting things here. From the simplest -OOTB mainly- works to the most complex ones -like multimedia kits, vignetes or dios-. All of them inspiring works indeed, believe me!

My congratulations to all of you that have already completed the campaing and thank you to everybody for sharing your work!

Since my previous post here I gave a try to another 1/48th scale GB devoted to wheeled vehicles. I missed the deadline for few days but here you got the result! Not a much exciting model but, all in all, my first quarter scale model finished!

-and a new model after almost two years without finishing any!-

Again another quick project with just a little of homemade detailling.

But now... I´m in a hurry because I believed that GB deadline was march 31st but now I realized that it is going to be march 1st . So I hope to start painting the Humvee interior rigth now!

So stay tunned... more in progress shots of the Hummer coming soon!

Best regards!

Two quick Q´s:

Domingo That´s a rainy and muddy winter Hanomag! How you got that faded whitewash? Hairspray tech?

Jose Luis Regarding your red monster you said [...] Just some red hull (Tamiya Red Hull + Yellow + Red) [...]

Do you mean you used different mixes of those colours or that you applied thin yellow and red layers over the hull red base?

To both Jawdropping finishes!

Bud - you are the pe master as far as I'm concerned.

Chad - I like what you've done with the Pershing. The Archer and bits you did add a lot to the look of it.

Steffen - That road turned out really nicely - what did you do to it to finish the weathering on it?

Alvaro - that is a really well painted LITTLE model - congrats! Hope you can get the humvee done too and not sit on the shelf like mine haha.

Domingo - your halftrack is coming along nicely. Interesting approach to adding the rustybrown mud to the upper panel lines

Thanks Greg!!

It is just pigments: MIG, mainly "Europe dust" and "Gulf War sand", but some others too. It is also the photography. The pic after painting was taken with a 5500K photo lamp overhead (no diffusor) and the other the next mornig with diffuse natural light. (My models mostly look better when you have them in front of you than on photos)

BTW the only constant is change. I used Mig-pigment fixer but with handling I still left finger marks in it thus I have sealed it with Gunze flat after I glued on the Puma (some pix before Flat coat in the Puma thread and on ML). Tomorrow I'll maybe take some more pix.

all the best

Hi lads,

I see a lot of wonderful models around this campaign, I am very short of time lately, but I have managed to finish the built of my humvee, it´s half primed right now!

Everything it´s dry fitted for easy painting.

Hope I can manage to finish it on time!

Best,
Jose

Alvaro:

Your Tug is just a piece of art. Incredible. Excellent weathering work ... May be one of the nicest 1/48 vehicles I´ve ever seen.

Regarding the Jagdtiger paint. These are the steps applied before taking the picture:

- Pre-shadowing the hull with 90% black+10% red hull
- Base: A Red hull + red + yellow mix (to my taste), applied in a non uniform way all over the vehicle.
- Some modulation using acylic paint to edges, hatches, rivets....

In the following steps, already done but no pictures available, I started changing the base color adding yellow to the base mix color in order to get a more rich surface and again with acrylic paints, a more agressive modulation effect. I´ve also tried a kind of zenithal effect on the lateral plates and finally, to make the differences of color more subtle, I applied a highly diluted a 50% mix of orange and red clear all over the tank (a filter). I´ll take some pictures this evening and I´ll try to post them.

Domingo

YOU´RE A KILLER. Impressive finish! ... incredible winter camo, heavily weathered but incredibily realistic. With you, your last work is ALWAYS your best work.... congratulations!

Jose Manuel

Nice work with that Humvee ... can´t wait to see it painted!

Here, some pics of my last 1/48 kit:

Hope you like it.

Regards

Jose Luis Thank you for the quick reply!

Jose Manuel Go, go... that hummer it is almost there! Start painting it asap, please! BTW, I love its migthy look with the beautiful Hauler agressive pattern wheels!

Greg Oh, well... you have work enough with the Lego city that you are sharing here to take care of your armored Humvee now... but I hope to see it finished in a future.

To all Yesterday I started painting the Huvee interior. That´s going to be a express work because it will become almost invissible at all. I hope to share pics here by next w.e.

Keep the fun going!
Alvaro

Jose Luis Mindblowing! At this stage of the painting process those red hues looks so vivid that looks like a (big) piece of hardware from the movie Tron! Wonderful execution!

Bud Are you joking? You made my reply soooo easy with your own words... You obviously put a lot of work into your multimedia Tiger and it shows. My highest respect to all of you that can handle all of those tiny pe parts succesfully!

Chad I have no idea about how much wheatering you have in mind for it but I would go for a dark brown wash but a black wash on engine grilles. Very nice subject, BTW. USMC armour rules!

Regards!

You´re right, it´s my Trontiger!!!! (oficialmente bautizado .... )

Great Pershing! ... in my opinion, you should use two washes. One of pure black for deeper places (ie engine grills) and anotehr mix (80% brown 20% black) for the rest

Alvaro, great little tractor! It's begging for something to tow!

Domingo, the halftrack looks great, nice job on the whitewash.

Jose Manuel, nice clean build on the humvee.

Jose Luis, stunning work on the Puma. Where is the figure from? French civilian police I assume? Didn't know there were any civilian figures in 1/48. The Jagdtiger looks very colorful at the moment. I assume it will be toned down considerably in the next few steps? Looking forward to it!

Chad, looks a bit green right now (maybe the light?) so I would suggest a brown wash to tone it down a bit.

Tomek, welcome to the campaign! I like the look of that little vehicle, looking forward to it!

I have finished the grass on my project, added some more tracks to the ground and will start the detail painting and weathering on the T34 tonight. Pictures soon.

Keep 'em rolling everyone! 6 weeks to go!

Cheers!

domingo, really nice looking halftrack! I like the contrast between the finish and the rocket launchers! Be sure to post at least one pic in the official gallery, it's mandatory for the award I'm afraid.

I have made some progress on my project. The grass is a bit too green, I will have to think about a method to tone it down a bit. Next markings and weathering.

Keep the flow going!

Cheers!
Stefan
