Why would you worry about what stowage to put on your kit? The KV-2 didn't have round external tanks..actually I have only seen one pic of a KV-2 with the external tanks. definitely no track links. The hatches are wrong as well. Heck, the list it too long to put here for this kit. This is basically a later KV-1 with a turret that resembles a KV-2. Put whatever stowage you want on it. Why start looking at references now? I do however like your Russian green.

Brian - I really like your second model, especially the cast texture on the turret. What kit is that?

Brian, correct me if I am wrong but your second model is a JS-1 or 2 is it not? If that is the case even though it is an awesome model it doesn't really belong in this build as it is only for KV-1, KV-2 and a couple of the SPGs derived from the KVs. But again, let me stress that it is a really well finished AFV.

I believe it is a KV-85. KV hull with an 85mm armed turret. It was a stop-gap between the KV-1 and JS-1.

I've run into quite a few setbacks, but I am working on a 1/72 KV-8S that was given to me by a fellow member to try out. Just going for a speed build to get it done in time, I'm going to feel silly if I miss out on earning one of my own ribbon designs

Hi folks,
I have now completed my effort for the campaign, of which I must say have some outstanding builds going on.
The kit is the Revell KV1 model 1940 LKZ basically out of the box apart from the log which is from the garden.
Cheers
Keith

Great build, Keith. Excellent overall look of the model.
I have now finished my build. The weathering of the lower running gear is not finished as this will be used in a diorama where it will be bogged down. Maintenance crews are trying to rev the engine to get it out while at the same time rigging it for towing.
It is Zvezda's 1/35 KV-1 model 40 build straight from the box. Quite a good kit apart from the tracks, but they will most be covered in mud/marsh land.
I have experimented a little with the lighting in photos as my photography skills are not the best.
It was a pleasure to join the campaign and follow the many great builds here.
Comments welcome.

Well done Jesper. How about another one?

Thanks for the comment, Warren. Appreciate it.
Well, I am relocating with my family to the states, so there will not be any time for another Killer KV. It has been great to participate and there are some really great builds in this campaign.
Looking forward to see more builds before the end of the campaign.

Thanks for the comments, John. Yes, quite a trip from DK to US. The amount of paperwork is staggering
Burak, nice choice of model. I remember seeing the pictures of the KV-2 with a very high number of nonpenetrating hits.

Jesper, I have read some from Marshal Rokossovski's memoirs. He emphasised KV-1 and KV-2s coming back with 60-70 (I think) shots in summer 1941.

They would be an interesting read, but you may have to take some of the figures with a grain of salt, glorious motherland and all that propaganda. It would have been a bit worrying for the Germans to see there anti-tank rounds bouncing off the Soviet AFVs..

That's right Warren. It went back with tens of wounds, but survived. Most of KV's fell to the Germans, were out of fuels after being encircled. I will use my little giant in a diorama, probably displaying the Russian confusion on durability of KV-2, rather than the Germans.

I was under the impression that the KV2 came as a shock to the Germans and the only gun that really took the KV2 apart was the 88mm. The problem with that is it takes time to get the 88mm into action and could fall to the KV before it was ready to engage. The Panzer 3 and 4 were not a match for the KV from everything I have read.

From my experiences being close to any tank, let alone a hostile one, while it is even moving is an unpleasant experience. As Monty Python said, "Run away!!"..

Greetings all,
Despite interruptions I have been plodding along with the SU-152 build. I've started to "dirty up" the beast as I wasn't able to figure out what else to do with the rather plain track exteriors. The first stages involve mixing Tamiya Buff with Snow-Tex textured paint and then adding a coat of the same material coloured with Dark Earth. The coloured Snow-Tex is a white acrylic medium so one needs quite a bit of colour to tint it. Here's pictures of the starting coats on the lower suspension.
I'm still unsure about a tow cable and perhaps a tarp and still need some decals . Until those items are taken care of the upper body weathering will have to wait.
Cheers,
Jan

Jan, I don't think you will find that many russian AFVs in WW2 had much stowage as it was either lost, given away or just plain not there. You have to remember that everything was in short supply in the Soviet Union, except perhaps NKVD officers...

Hi All, great builds going on, and some great paint jobs.
I'm running a bit late on mine, I know we've got about a week to go but there's no way i'm gonna finish on time, am I alone in not being able to time manage my campaign build?????, I would be up for a small extension, say a week maybe 2??????, any chances...... kind campaign leader.......
